IBRO invests in neuroscientists worldwide to advance brain research for everyone.

Our work focuses on making sure talented neuroscientists from diverse backgrounds have the right tools to succeed. We provide a wide range of support, including travel grants for international collaboration, return-home fellowships for those establishing labs, exchange fellowships that strengthen international partnerships, and start-up funding for researchers transitioning into independent positions.

Beyond financial support, our numerous training schools and workshops offer practical experience with the latest techniques, helping neuroscientists in every region stay up to date with developments in the field.

In 2025, we funded over 1,400 researchers at different stages of their careers from 96 countries, supporting global collaboration, training, and research. Demand continues to grow: we received nearly 6,000 applications that year, far more than we were able to support.

A key part of how we sustain this work is through our two journals, Neuroscience and IBRO Neuroscience Reports. These platforms allow us to disseminate high-quality research to the global community, while the revenue they generate is reinvested directly back into our grant and training programs.

With additional support, we could fund more of the researchers who apply each year. By choosing to donate, you help us extend our reach and support more neuroscientists at critical stages of their careers.

Advancing diverse and inclusive brain research is vital because many of the challenges we face are universal, yet influenced by cultural and other circumstances. As populations age worldwide, the need to better understand and treat neurological diseases like Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and stroke continues to grow.

Better brain health starts with research. Your donation helps neuroscientists worldwide make progress and gives them the resources they need to find answers.

Support early-career neuroscientists from around the world

Help us fund the #IBRO2027 Travel Grant Program and support early-career researchers from around the world attending the 12th IBRO World Congress of Neuroscience, taking place September 13–16, 2027, in Cape Town, South Africa. The congress brings together researchers from across the globe to share discoveries, exchange ideas, and build international collaborations. For many early-career neuroscientists, attending a global congress like this can be a turning point in their careers. It is an opportunity to present their work, receive feedback from experts, discover new approaches, and connect with future collaborators. The impact often continues long after the congress itself, helping researchers strengthen neuroscience in their home countries and build lasting global networks. However, many talented researchers are unable to attend international conferences because of travel and accommodation costs. Through the #IBRO2027 Travel Grant Program, IBRO aims to help ensure that scientific exchange is not limited by geography or financial barriers. IBRO believes scientific talent exists everywhere. By supporting early-career neuroscientists from diverse backgrounds and regions, we can help create a more inclusive, connected, and globally representative neuroscience community. 100% of funds received will go directly toward supporting travel grants. IBRO does not deduct administrative costs.

"Every Kid Deserves To Read" Description

Millions of people around the world face neurological and mental health challenges without access to proper care, awareness, or research support. This fundraiser supports the mission of International Brain Research Organization to advance brain research, neuroscience education, and global awareness on brain health. Your support will help promote scientific learning, empower young researchers, create community awareness programs, and encourage better understanding of neurological disorders affecting families and communities every day. Together, we can inspire innovation, improve lives, and build a future where every person has access to knowledge, hope, and better brain health.
