Lori Burke dedicated countless years to running Summit County Rotary's Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) program, transforming the lives of thousands of young people through her passionate commitment to developing the next generation of leaders.

Lori understood that leadership isn't about titles—it's about inspiring others, solving problems creatively, and making a difference in your community. Through her work with RYLA, she gave middle and high school students the opportunity to discover their potential at intensive leadership conferences held at the YMCA of the Rockies in Estes Park.

HOW IT ALL STARTED

After many years in the financial industry, our founders - Marc and Daniel - abandoned their careers in order to help the underprivileged in our society. Without knowing what to expect, Child’s Dream was brought to life in October 2003 with the help of their close friends and family members. Both realised very soon that they had found new meaning in life and that they were able to put all of their newly gained motivation and endless energy into effective help for children in need.

As of February 2024 there have been 265,295 total direct beneficiaries been reached by ongoing projects. The total number of direct beneficiaries reached by past and ongoing projects is 1,308,329. As of February 2024 there have been 1,002 ongoing projects been supported.

Disadvantaged children and youth in Myanmar, Lao PDR, Cambodia, and Thailand encounter challenges in accessing and completing quality education, with disparities and inequalities persisting among different groups and regions. Alongside these educational challenges, health concerns such as limited healthcare access, insufficient health education, prevalent unsafe Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) diseases, and maternal and child health issues vary across the countries. As a result, individuals are not able to foster the development of their countries and communities, perpetuating poverty and inequalities.

A community for entrepreneurs in recovery from addiction to grow their businesses while staying sober and helping others.

For over a decade, I battled alcoholism and addiction. I couldn’t stop—even when I wanted to. I drank against my own will. It cost me relationships, clarity, peace… and nearly my freedom.

In 2013, after a DUI and an arrest, I was given an ultimatum: **jail or rehab**. At the time, it felt like the worst moment of my life. Looking back, it was the turning point that saved it.

After 30 days in rehab and a newfound outlook on life. I made the best and hardest decision of my life to stay sober.

By 2014, with one year sober, I launched my first real company. From the outside, I looked like I had it all together, but inside, I was juggling a storm. Running a business, managing employees, delivering for clients—and all the while, trying to surrender to God’s will while still holding tight to control. There were so many days drinking felt like the only answer.

And the environment didn’t help.

Networking events? Happy hours.
Conferences? Open bars.
Entrepreneur culture? Work hard, play harder.
But for people like us alcoholics and addicts that “play” nearly destroyed us.

I’ve always loved the concept of helping others, which is the basis of 12-step recovery. We help others, and in turn, our lives get better. I applied those principles in helping other entrepreneurs and had seen the impact that it was having in their lives, their family’s lives, and their employee’s lives.

Fast forward to 2023: I exited my company successfully. I had resources, time, and space to reflect. I asked myself, “What would I do every day if money didn’t matter?” and the answer was clear:

**I’d dedicate my life to helping other entrepreneurs in recovery grow their businesses and stay sober.**

I already had sponsees who were founders. My sponsor ran a business. We’d have powerful, honest conversations about sobriety and entrepreneurship but always behind closed doors. It never felt appropriate to bring these discussions into a 12 step meeting… and they didn’t belong at a business mastermind either.

There had to be a better way.
A place where recovery and business could coexist.
Where we could talk about cash flow *and* cravings.
Marketing funnels *and* mental health.
Growth *and* grace.

So I built the thing I couldn’t find. The thing that I wish existed in the previous decade of building my own company and the very lonely lows and bittersweet highs that came along with being in recovery at the same time.

The first meeting started as a group text of fellow entrepreneur friends and a random post on Facebook for anyone with over $250k in revenue and one year of sobriety to join. I didn’t expect much, maybe a few of my friends to pop in and say hi and it would eventually fizzle out. But it didn’t…

Strangers joined the group, and then immediately after were begging for more (typical addict tendency haha).

I realized I had something that wasn’t just a little one-off thing, but the potential for something huge.

At the time of forming the group, I had made a list of things “If X happens, keep going, if Y happens, quit.” One of the long shot items in the keep going list was if a random stranger reached out and said this is a great idea, that would be enough outside validation to keep going.

After the second meeting, I had a random DM from an old account manager from a software we hadn’t used in years reach out to me saying that it was an incredible concept and that they grew up in a house of addiction and entrepreneurship. She said what we were doing was incredible and something she wished her father had when she was growing up… That hit hard.

The same day, I received another dm from a newsletter asking for an interview to learn more about Sober Founders and what we were doing. The idea got a fast proof of concept and has been growing ever since.

What started as a side project became a full-blown nonprofit a 501(c)(3)—thanks to the support of early members, generous donors, and the undeniable impact we were having on each other’s lives.

2) Jagriti Enterprise Centre – Purvanchal (JEC-P) http://jecp.in/:

JECP is building an enterprise incubation and innovation ecosystem in eastern Uttar Pradesh. Our aim is to motivate local youth to build enterprises. Designed with a 3-I (Incubation, Innovation and

Inspiration) framework, the Centre will incubate enterprises, promote sustainable innovation in six focus areas – Health, Women, Digital, Rural Urbanization, Agro Processing, Handicraft and Apparel

– and inspire local people through culture, architecture and local role models. Over the past 3 years, it has incubated 100 enterprises, creating 2000 jobs and impacting 30,000+ beneficiaries. It

also implemented a digital literacy training program, called Internet Saathi supported by Tata Trusts and Google, for 1.7 million rural women across 10000+ villages in 7 districts

Tanzania Early Childhood Education and Care (TECEC) is a national, community-rooted organization dedicated to ensuring every child reaches their full potential during the critical first five years of life. Founded to respond to gaps in early childhood services in low-income Tanzanian communities, TECEC works hand-in-hand with families, local leaders, and government partners to prevent and address developmental delays in children aged 0–5.

Our model focuses on practical, sustainable solutions shaped by the real needs of the communities we serve. Current activities include:

Establishing community-based ECD centers within public or community structures.

Creating early stimulation corners in health centers to support pregnant women and newborns during their first 1,000 days.

Delivering weekly parenting sessions on early stimulation, responsive caregiving, nutrition, mental health, and livelihood support.

Equipping adolescent and single parents with income-generating skills, such as nutrition-focused agribusiness and tailoring.

Training youth and community health workers to provide quality ECD services in centers and early stimulation corners.

Operating a community-based maize fortification mill to combat hidden hunger and strengthen family resilience.

Over the past three years, TECEC has reached more than 20,000 children across Mwanza, Mara, and Rukwa, while supporting thousands of parents and caregivers. Looking ahead, we aim to scale our integrated ECD model to underserved regions and deepen our focus on parental wellbeing, nutrition, and inclusive learning environments, ensuring that even the most vulnerable children can grow, learn, and thrive.

Through real-world learning, robust community, and personal growth, Workshop Learning empowers young adults to pursue a life of security, connection, and purpose. 

We design learning experiences in which students hone their sense of self, shape a vision for what comes next, and build the skills they need to make that vision a reality. While we believe this is critical to flourishing for all students, our work centers on youth and emerging adults from the most marginalized communities. These students' dreams and talents are too often overlooked and they often feel alienated and left behind by education systems. 

Serving young people ages 14-24, Workshop Learning works in three spaces.  First, we assist the School District in operating and supporting a high school (the Workshop School).  Second, we’re piloting a new alternative postsecondary program (Workshop U). Third, we work with other educators, schools, and systems that want to adapt or learn from our approach.

We believe having access to quality education and providing access to technical and vocational skills are foundational to human development. Consequently, PIDRS aim to eliminate gender disparities in education and ensure equal access for children from KG-12.

PIDRS is focused on delivering direct maternal and child health, community health and wellness programs to prepare for immediate and future health crises and emergencies. 

**Humanitarian Assistance**

Disruptions like conflict, natural disasters, famines and disease hinder progress worldwide, especially in Africa. PIDRS acts by mobilizing resources and delivering development and relief services to communities facing these critical challenges.


Pisgah International Development & Relief Services

The Jeremiah Project Inc is a nonprofit organization. It is based in Williamsburg, VA. It received its nonprofit status in 1987.

The Jeremiah Project (JP) provides short-term mission camps for Middle School & High School student participants. JP offers several weeks throughout the summer in West Virginia.  Students and adults work to make homes warmer, safer, drier, and more accessible for people in need.  Throughout the week, students are given a wide range of home repair opportunities from painting to building wheelchair ramps.

Outside of summer mission camps, the Jeremiah Project provides a spring weekend retreat (JOURNEY), a fall conference (LAUNCH), and a one-year leadership experience for 9th and 10th grade students (LEAD Four:Twelve).

CDA Collaborative Learning Projects (CDA) is a US-based international non-profit organization that exists to engage the complex questions that unlock positive, systemic change wherever communities experience fragility and conflict. For 25 years CDA has worked across the aid, humanitarian assistance, and peacebuilding fields, as well as with corporations in two main ways: 1) lead large-scale collaborative learning projects that improve the wider sector’s effectiveness and accountability to people in contexts of conflict, and 2) advising change processes based on that learning, for individual organizations, donors, and corporate entities, their networks, and multi-stakeholder initiatives.

CDA’s work is driven by the same two fundamental beliefs it was founded on: (1) Local capacities for peace: The perspectives and abilities of people affected by conflict must be at the center of addressing local and systemic challenges; and (2) Context matters: effective social change efforts depend on a deep understanding of and adaptation to the range of complex dynamics of communities.

What began as a small local effort has grown into a solid, community-driven organization dedicated to fighting poverty and building opportunities for the most vulnerable.

Each day, COMPALCIHT provides **nutritious meals to 480 children** in its community dining centers, meals that often make the difference between hunger and healthy growth. Through regular visits, the team ensures food quality and adapts menus to meet children’s needs, offering balanced dishes that include oatmeal, pinolillo, pasta, and protein sources like liver and meat.

Beyond nutrition, COMPALCIHT invests in the **leadership and training of 96 mothers**, teaching food preparation, hygiene, and nutrition practices that strengthen household food security and community well-being. Many of these women have become active leaders, helping replicate positive change across Tipitapa.

Azadi is a survivor-led, counter-trafficking NGO that focuses on the provision of long-term support for survivors of trafficking.

Azadi is a survivor-led, counter-trafficking NGO that focuses on the provision of long-term support for survivors of trafficking who, too often, find a lack of community support and understanding when reintegrating into society after their experience with trafficking.

​Azadi was founded and has its roots in Nairobi, Kenya and is in the process of setting up a program in the United States through Azadi Inc. that focuses on creating community for survivors of trafficking and specifically supporting the growth of survivor-led communities in the US.

Our initial focus is to incubate survivor-led initiatives and organisations by providing core support to develop strong organisational frameworks and operations.

Cinolu is an innovation hub, an incubator providing support to young innovators and early stage businesses (startups and SMEs).

The centre d'innovation de Lubumbashi, Cinolu, supports young innovators and entrepreneurs,early-stage companies, start-ups, and innovative SMEs with access to business knowledge, increased business acumen and networking opportunities. It is an emerging innovation center in the city of Lubumbashi in the DRC, providing young innovators and Technology- led entrepreneurs  with a set of one-stop innovation programs & incubation services that fit the local content.

Cinolu provide capacity building, incubation and acceleration services in through innovation, technology and entrepreneurship.

The aim is to equip the beneficiaires to become competitive enough to growth and scale their ventures locally and internationally. It also aims to support the transformation of the local community as a vibrant and competitive innovation ecosystem of international calibre through a lean innovation pipeline focussed on enabling competitiveness of  Young people , their products , services  and  processes thus their startups.

Our targets are segmented along entrepreneurship and digital inclusion programs for women and girls  ,  entrepreneurship support for Students  through uvumbuzi programs and Ushindi programs for first time entrepreneurs.  The vision of the CINOLU is to become one of the most vibrant youth-led regional hub and Startups connector supporting the emergence of smarter and competitive cities in the DRC  and  within the central Africa region.

Veterans Collaborative

TEG aims to improve the lives of young people near nature reserves through education, conservation and income generation programs.

Tengeneza means building. We aim to build spaces that empower and capacitate young people in socio-economic development in our communities.

TEG was founded in 2007 and registered in 2014 by Pius Matunge and Godfrey Mohere met at secondary school while volunteering in school outreach programs to the communities. Through this experience, they learned the hardship young people have to face due to limited livelihood skills that will uplift their potential in growing their knowledge and skills in income generating and self-employment. 

TEG is a member of the FAO Mountain Partnership and currently runs programs that support young people, including young mothers in communities near nature reserves. Our initiatives focus on economic empowerment, leadership development, environmental conservation and infrastructure projects such as building school facilities to enhance education and healthcare for students.

TEG collaborate with nature reserves and artists to document Tanzania’s forests, endangered species, and community-led conservation efforts. Our work also extends to preserving and promoting indigenous art, culture, and history in partnership with MAZI Art and Culture (MAZI).

TEG has a dedicated team of seven full-time staff members committed to driving impact in these areas.

Specific Goals:

- To empower 10,000 young people (50/50 gender balance and 20% young mothers per year.), including young people with special needs and young mothers with the knowledge and skills in self-employment programs by 2030.
- To ensure high-quality education in schools by 2030, we aim to provide access to quality classrooms, sanitation, and hygiene through the WASH program for young people.
- To Conserve and protect biological diversity through communities adjacent to Eastern Arc Mountain by sensitising environmental education from 2025-2030.

Magic Bus empowers children and young people in India to break poverty by taking them from childhood to livelihood.

**About Us**

Founded in 1999, Magic Bus India Foundation has emerged as one of India's top five NGOs in the field of education and skilling. With a nationwide presence, Magic Bus is equipping children’s and youth from underserved communities and societies with life and employability skills to thrive in a fast-paced world and be ready for the 21st century.

The India's National Education Policy 2020 emphasizes on children being equipped with higher order thinking skills and socio-emotional learning. According to World economic forum, critical thinking and problem-solving top the list of skills employers believe will grow in prominence in the next five years.

Our comprehensive approach, known as **Childhood to Livelihood**, guides individuals from a childhood fraught with challenges to a life enriched with meaningful livelihoods. We engage with the ecosystems of young people, including parents, peers, community members, and local institutions, to establish a robust support network for them. This is achieved through two key programmes: the **Adolescent Programme** and the **Livelihood Programme**.

- **Adolescent Programme –** The programme caters to children from **12 years** to **18 years** of age, equipping them with life skills to achieve school, life and work outcomes.
- **Livelihood Programme –** The programme caters to young people from **18 years** to **25 years** of age, enabling them with transferable life and employability skills and secure sustainable jobs and aspirational salaries.
- **Entrepreneurship Development Programme -** To empower women aged **25 years** above in peri-urban and rural areas, we offer **entrepreneurship development programme** to skill underserved women as entrepreneurs. We impart leadership and business skills to enable financial independence.

**Female Labour Force Participation (FLFPR)**

To contribute to national economic growth by boosting women's participation in the labour force, we place special emphasis on female involvement in all our programmes. This effort has resulted in achieving a participation rate of **52% on girl child** and **60% among women**.

LIFE! Christian Broadcasting Network is an independent, non-profit, educational, non-commercial, public television station. LIFE! Christian Broadcasting Network is the only inter-denominational, trilingual (English, Spanish, and Arabic), 24-hour Christian television station in the Southwest. The Station’s purpose is to evangelize the lost, build-up believers and effect change in our world by:

We broadcasts daily on four digital channels and is carried on all local and regional cable systems with an average viewership of 15,000-30,000 at any given time in a 100 mile radius spanning 2 countries and 3 states. All funding is provided by program underwriting and donations from businesses, organizations and individuals.
