What started as a simple act of generosity has grown into a nationwide mission to uplift families in need.  For over 10 years, we have surprised unsuspecting families by paying off holiday and back-to-school layaway balances. Since our inception, Pay Away has helped over 20,000 families nationally and military bases worldwide.

Our core initiatives focus on Back-to-School and Holiday balance payoffs, as well as shopping sprees, gift cards, and other impactful activations that bring relief and joy to deserving families.

We also partner with individual donors and corporate partners to maximize our impact through employee engagement, matching contributions, volunteer days, and customized giving opportunities. Together, we can make an even greater difference in the lives of families who need it most.

House of 42 is a 501c3 nonprofit dedicated to healing and growth in service of a better world. 

The House of 42 provides space holding to a global community of thousands by way of ceremonies, community events, year round integration and online support. 42 has positively impacted thousands of lives of people from ages 9 to 101.  100% of those who have completed their process with 42 are better for it in meaningful ways.

Keeping this work accessible is a core value of the organization. While there is no requirement to donate in order to be part of our community, we invite your support to cover the costs of ceremonies and events and help others who cannot afford participation. On October 20, 2025 we lost an extraordinary champion of youth leadership. Lori Burke dedicated countless years to running Summit County Rotary's Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) program, transforming the lives of thousands of young people through her passionate commitment to developing the next generation of leaders.

Lori understood that leadership isn't about titles—it's about inspiring others, solving problems creatively, and making a difference in your community. Through her work with RYLA, she gave middle and high school students the opportunity to discover their potential at intensive leadership conferences held at the YMCA of the Rockies in Estes Park.

**The Impact of RYLA**

RYLA provides transformative experiences where young people arrive uncertain but leave with newfound confidence and enthusiasm for community service. Students develop essential communication skills, learn from inspirational speakers and peer mentors, and form lasting friendships—all while addressing real community issues.

Our program serves 7th graders through high school juniors, with sponsoring Rotary clubs covering all costs so that every student can attend regardless of financial circumstances.

HOW IT ALL STARTED

After many years in the financial industry, our founders - Marc and Daniel - abandoned their careers in order to help the underprivileged in our society. Without knowing what to expect, Child’s Dream was brought to life in October 2003 with the help of their close friends and family members. Both realised very soon that they had found new meaning in life and that they were able to put all of their newly gained motivation and endless energy into effective help for children in need.

As of February 2024 there have been 265,295 total direct beneficiaries been reached by ongoing projects. The total number of direct beneficiaries reached by past and ongoing projects is 1,308,329. As of February 2024 there have been 1,002 ongoing projects been supported.

Disadvantaged children and youth in Myanmar, Lao PDR, Cambodia, and Thailand encounter challenges in accessing and completing quality education, with disparities and inequalities persisting among different groups and regions. Alongside these educational challenges, health concerns such as limited healthcare access, insufficient health education, prevalent unsafe Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) diseases, and maternal and child health issues vary across the countries. As a result, individuals are not able to foster the development of their countries and communities, perpetuating poverty and inequalities.

The **Design Science Studio** (DSS) is a cultural and educational incubator that supports creators in shaping futures rooted in regeneration, justice and belonging. We are a living ecosystem of artists, designers, systems thinkers, story-weavers and movement builders committed to creating a world that works for all of life.

DSS holds space for interdisciplinary collaboration, creative capacity-building and community-rooted innovation. Our work is deeply informed by the legacy of Buckminster Fuller and carried forward through decentralized and decolonial ways of being, imagining and doing.

At the heart of our ecosystem is the **(r)Evolutionary incubator** —a 7-month journey of creative emergence and collective evolution that centers artists and designers as cultural stewards and worldbuilders. It weaves together art, design science, storytelling, systems thinking and regenerative design, offering an invitation to grow alongside others who are working to create futures rooted in care, justice and imagination.

What We Do

Throughout the year, the Foundation undertakes a wide range of mission-driven activities in support of Fire Hero Families, fire departments, and the fire service overall.

Each May, the Foundation sponsors the official **National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend**, the national tribute to all firefighters who died in the line of duty during the previous year and in prior years. Thousands of families, fire service members, and others attend the weekend activities held at the **National Fire Academy** in Emmitsburg, Maryland.

The Weekend features special programs for families and co-workers along with poignant public ceremonies. The Foundation provides travel, lodging, and meals for immediate family members of fallen firefighters being honored. This allows families to participate in a variety of activities and sessions conducted by trained grief counselors and in the private and public tributes.

This sprawling, pastoral space in the middle of the National Emergency Training Center includes a brick Walk of Honor® that connects the official National Fallen Firefighters Monument to the other Memorial Park features: To Lift a Nation, the 9/11 monument; the NFFF Bell of Remembrance; and the NFFF Memorial Chapel.

Under a Department of Justice grant, the Foundation offers **Fire Service Training** to help fire departments prepare to handle a line-of-duty death. Through our **Taking Care of Our Own®** program, departments receive extensive pre-incident planning support; **Local Assistance State Teams** step in when a loss occurs, to provide whatever support is needed immediately and for as long as a department needs it. National Fallen Firefighters Foundation

The Summit County Rotary Charitable Fund is based in Frisco, Colorado. Their volunteers support local and global projects.

**Transforming Lives Through Service Above Self**

For decades, the Summit County Rotary Charitable Fund has been a cornerstone of community support in Colorado's high country, embodying Rotary's motto of "Service Above Self" through tangible action and meaningful impact. As the 501(c)(3) nonprofit arm of the Summit County Rotary Club, we operate as a volunteer-led organization that bridges local community needs with global humanitarian efforts.

From providing winter coats to 700+ local children and serving over 200,000 free community dinners since 2009, to awarding over $50,000 annually in educational scholarships and hosting international exchange students from around the world, our work touches every corner of Summit County while extending our reach to communities across the globe. Through comprehensive literacy programs, youth leadership development, emergency disaster relief, and our contribution to the near-eradication of polio worldwide, we demonstrate that small mountain communities can create extraordinary change when united by a shared commitment to service.

**Educational Excellence & Youth Development**

**Scholarship Program**

Education serves as the great engine of personal development, and we believe every local student should be equipped to give back to their community. In 2025, we awarded $55,000 in scholarships to 22 local students pursuing higher education at colleges of their choosing, plus 12 additional scholarships to students at Colorado Mountain College's Breckenridge and Dillon campuses.

Working in partnership with The Summit Foundation and Colorado Mountain College Charitable Fund, we support students who demonstrate service and leadership qualities. Our scholarships particularly focus on first-generation college students, those pursuing technical fields, and students involved in Rotary activities. We're proud to offer the Meg Boyer Memorial Scholarship in partnership with The Summit Daily News, honoring a former publisher and Rotarian while supporting female students pursuing journalism or business degrees.

**Youth Exchange Program**

Our comprehensive Youth Exchange program creates global citizens and lasting international friendships. Each year, we sponsor one or two international high school students who attend school in Summit County while living with three carefully selected host families throughout the academic year. We've welcomed remarkable young ambassadors from Spain, Brazil, Austria, Japan, Turkey, Switzerland, Romania, and many other countries.

Summit County students also have transformative opportunities to spend a year abroad through our outbound exchange program, with past participants experiencing life-changing adventures in the Czech Republic, Denmark, Argentina, New Zealand, Taiwan, and other fascinating destinations worldwide.

**Youth Leadership Development**

Through our Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) program, we sponsor high school sophomores and juniors for intensive leadership training at the beautiful YMCA of the Rockies in Estes Park. Our Young RYLA program serves 288 seventh-grade participants across two summer sessions, helping young people develop essential skills in an atmosphere of trust and respect while addressing real community issues.

**Literacy & Learning Initiatives**

**Comprehensive Literacy Programs**

Our commitment to literacy spans all ages and learning stages throughout Summit County. Through our "Reading Buddy" program, volunteers are paired with students at all six elementary schools to support developing reading skills with encouragement and personalized attention.

The Rotary Summer Reads program provides third-grade students with personally selected books reflecting Rotary values for summer reading. Since 2012, we've provided literacy grants to Summit School District classrooms, libraries, and home providers, plus funding for The Peak School and Summit County Preschools to build learning centers, purchase books, and create bilingual libraries.

Our Family Literacy Fairs, held twice yearly in partnership with Early Childhood Options, Family Intercultural Resource Center, Colorado Mountain College, and Head Start, provide free books to young children and families. We also donate children's books to schools and libraries throughout the county in honor of our weekly speakers—over 540 books donated since 2008.

**Creative Expression & Global Literacy**

Each spring, we sponsor short story and poetry contests for high school students in partnership with The Summit Daily News, awarding $5,800 in prizes to winners who share their creative works at our meetings. Our innovative Intergenerational Story Telling Project pairs adults at Timberline Adult Care Center with students from The Peak School, creating meaningful connections across generations.

Internationally, we support the Belize Education Fund and Guatemala Literacy Project, providing textbooks, reading materials, and computers to impoverished schools through partnerships with North American and Guatemalan Rotary clubs.

**Community Care & Support Programs**

**Adopt-An-Angel Program**

Every child deserves to stay warm during Colorado's harsh winters. Through our Adopt-An-Angel program, we provide essential winter coats to children in Summit County who would otherwise go without. This heartwarming initiative serves approximately 400 families with 700 children each year during our Holiday campaign. While Summit Rotary purchases the coats, our community partners with us through the Angel Ornament program at participating local retailers, where generous individuals donate toys. Families gather at the Silverthorne Pavilion to collect these gifts and wrap them for Christmas, creating magical holiday moments for children throughout our mountain community.

**Local Grants Program**

We support dozens of local organizations through our quarterly grants process, funding projects that demonstrate clear community benefit, long-term impact, and service to Summit County residents. Recent grantees include Summit Community Care Clinic, Keystone Science School, Summit County Senior Center, Tree Top Child Advocacy, Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center, and many other vital community organizations working to strengthen our mountain communities.

**Community Dinner**

Since 2009, we've proudly nourished our community, serving over 200,000 FREE community dinners to residents and visitors alike. Every Tuesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Elks Lodge in Silverthorne, we open our doors to all community members—no questions asked, no requirements needed. This vital service ensures that no one in our community goes hungry while fostering connections and strengthening the bonds that make Summit County special. Your donation directly supports this ongoing commitment to community care and hospitality.

**Global Humanitarian Impact**

**Polio Eradication**

We are proud partners in one of the most successful public health campaigns in history. For more than 35 years, Rotary has led the charge to eliminate polio worldwide, and we are closer than ever to achieving this monumental goal. As a founding partner of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative, Rotary International has helped reduce polio cases by an astounding 99.9 percent since the first vaccination project in the Philippines in 1979.

Rotary members globally have contributed more than $2.1 billion and countless volunteer hours to protect nearly 3 billion children across 122 countries from this paralyzing disease. Our advocacy efforts have influenced governments to contribute over $10 billion to this critical mission. Today, polio remains endemic only in Afghanistan and Pakistan, but continued vigilance is essential. Without ongoing eradication efforts, polio could paralyze as many as 200,000 children annually within just a decade.

**ShelterBox Emergency Relief**

When natural disasters strike, families often find themselves without adequate shelter for weeks or months. Through our partnership with ShelterBox, your donation helps us deploy emergency shelter solutions to disaster-affected areas worldwide. Each ShelterBox contains essential survival tools, blankets, cooking equipment, dishes, water purification systems, and other critical supplies designed to keep a family of 10 protected from the elements while they work to rebuild their lives and communities.

1. History and Founding Vision

Savithri Devi Memorial Charitable Trust (SDMC Trust) was established in 2010 in Mangaluru, Karnataka, to honour the memory and values of Smt. Savithri Devi, a woman remembered for her compassion, integrity, and lifelong service to the less fortunate.

The Trust was conceived by her family and well-wishers as a structured continuation of her philanthropic spirit—an institutional platform that could translate individual generosity into sustained social change.

From its modest beginnings—offering direct medical aid to a few economically distressed patients—the Trust has steadily evolved into a registered public charitable organization with a widening portfolio of activities in healthcare, education, livelihood generation, disability support, and elder care.

What began as local humanitarian work in and around Mangaluru has now grown into a multi-faceted welfare programme that reaches rural and urban beneficiaries across the region.

2. Guiding Philosophy and Mission

At the heart of SDMC Trust lies a simple conviction: every human being deserves dignity, opportunity, and care.

The Trust’s mission is to empower the poor and needy to become self-reliant and lead lives of purpose and stability. This mission is pursued through holistic interventions that combine immediate relief with long-term empowerment.

Equity and Inclusion: prioritising those excluded from mainstream development—underprivileged patients, differently-abled persons, elderly citizens, orphans, and students from low-income families.

Over the last decade, SDMC Trust has organised and supported numerous programmes across its focus areas.

a. Health and Medical Assistance

Conducted free medical camps in collaboration with local hospitals and volunteer doctors, offering check-ups, diagnostics, and essential medicines.

Provided direct financial aid for surgeries, dialysis, and chronic disease management to hundreds of low-income patients.

Distributed wheelchairs, hearing aids, and mobility equipment to differently-abled individuals.

Supported vaccination and awareness drives during public-health emergencies, including the COVID-19 pandemic.

Established linkages between patients and tertiary hospitals for specialised care when local facilities were inadequate.

b. Education and Youth Development

Awarded scholarships and educational sponsorships for deserving students from economically weaker sections, covering tuition, uniforms, and materials.

Organised career-guidance and motivation sessions in government schools to encourage students to pursue higher studies.

Supported digital-learning initiatives during the pandemic, supplying refurbished devices and data support to rural students.

Partnered with local institutions to identify meritorious students who later volunteered back within the Trust’s community programmes.

c. Disability Support and Rehabilitation

Implemented outreach programmes to identify children and adults with locomotor or sensory disabilities.

Provided assistive technology, physiotherapy referrals, and training on daily-living aids.

Operates and supports old-age homes offering food, shelter, healthcare, and companionship to senior citizens abandoned or without family support.

Organises cultural and festival events to keep residents socially engaged and emotionally fulfilled.

Runs periodic health check-ups and counselling sessions for the elderly, emphasising mental health and community integration.

e. Support to Orphanages and Child Welfare Homes

Provides financial assistance and essential supplies—groceries, clothing, school materials—to partner orphanages in coastal Karnataka.

Sponsors children’s education and extracurricular activities to ensure all-round development.

f. Community Kitchens and Relief Work

During crises such as floods, pandemic lockdowns, and local emergencies, the Trust has operated community kitchens distributing cooked meals and rations to affected families.

Collaborated with local panchayats and NGOs for logistics, ensuring last-mile delivery in rural pockets.

Through these cumulative efforts, the Trust has reached several thousand beneficiaries—patients treated, students supported, elders sheltered, and families assisted—creating an enduring social footprint in and around Dakshina Kannada district.

5. Governance and Partnerships

The Trust is governed by a Board of Trustees comprising professionals from medical, educational, and social sectors who serve in an honorary capacity.

Regular audits and annual activity reports ensure transparency.

Partnerships with local hospitals, pharmacies, schools, and volunteer networks enable the Trust to leverage expertise and reach.

In addition, SDMC Trust collaborates with like-minded institutions and CSR partners to co-fund projects of mutual interest.

6. Impact and Learning

Over the years, SDMC Trust’s experience has underscored that empowerment is most effective when social interventions are integrated—health reinforces education, livelihood sustains welfare, and dignity binds them all together.

Key learnings include the importance of consistent follow-up with beneficiaries, data-based evaluation, and community ownership of programmes.

The Trust now emphasises capacity building of local volunteers and staff to ensure each initiative can sustain itself beyond direct funding cycles.

7. Future Plans and Strategic Vision

Looking ahead, SDMC Trust aims to deepen and scale its impact through structured, sustainable expansion:

Establishment of a Preventive Health Centre: a community clinic offering regular screening for lifestyle and chronic diseases at nominal cost, supported by volunteer doctors.

Creation of a Digital Scholarship Platform: enabling transparent application, tracking, and alumni engagement for sponsored students.

Skill Development and Livelihood Hubs: short-term vocational courses in tailoring, digital literacy, and micro-enterprise management for rural women and youth.

Expansion of Elder-Care Facilities: developing a model senior-citizen home combining medical care, recreation, and intergenerational engagement programmes with schools and colleges.

Differently-Abled Resource Centre: integrating therapy, training, and employment placement under one roof, in collaboration with physiotherapists and industry partners.

Acorn Outdoor Learning

ACE partners with Christian schools in Brazil to provide full scholarships, expanding access to quality Christian education.

**A Christian Education (ACE)** is a nonprofit organization in Brazil that partners with Christian schools to expand access to Christian education through full scholarships. ACE, based in São Paulo, has been active since May 2022 and, as of 2025, works with 32 partner schools, supporting 138 scholarship students in grades 3 to 12.

The organization’s scholarships are fully funded by a perpetual endowment, ensuring that recipients are supported until they graduate from their partner school.

ACE’s mission centers on nurturing students' academic and personal growth and plays a critical role in helping students from challenging socio-economic backgrounds, easing financial burdens, and fostering social development.

The organization prides itself on its financial transparency, with more than 98% (audited in 2025 ref 2024) of donations going directly to scholarships, a figure well above the standards set by Charity Navigator, which typically recognizes organizations that allocate 70% or more of their expenses to programs.

The purpose of The Angola Partnership is to support people in Africa through education. Since 2018, we have worked with The Language Institute in Huambo, Angola, to help people improve their lives by developing their educational, professional, and economic opportunities through English acquisition.

After emerging in 2002 from a long civil war, Angola has been increasingly integrating into the global economy. People in Angola who develop English proficiency are more likely to advance in education and succeed in the challenging professional employment environment.

Operating in a city of 400,000 people (about half of whom are under the age of 18), the Language Institute offers the only local instruction by a first-language English speaker.

High quality English language instruction can dramatically increase the economic opportunities and status of vulnerable people in Angola. With so much of global business and knowledge based in English, the language is essential, even, or perhaps especially, in economically developing non-English speaking countries like Angola. English is taught in school in Angola, but most students don't advance to a level at which the language is educationally and professionally useful. Strong skills are needed for real benefit.

As a non-sectarian social mission of the Evangelical Congregational Church in Angola (IECA), the Language Institute is dedicated to providing quality English instruction to all who make the commitment to the program, regardless of faith or ability to pay.

Income from a modest fee covers part of the Language Institute expenses, but outside support is needed to make the program accessible and sustainable.

Gifts to The Angola Partnership will sustain the work of the Language Institute and allow us to increase enrollment for students who could not otherwise afford the program. The students will benefit from rigorous coursework in the study of English, opening up a world of economic opportunities.

One Girl Can empowers high-potential girls in Kenya to overcome poverty and inequality through education, mentorship, and training

One Girl Can is a registered charitable organization in both Canada and Kenya dedicated to breaking the cycle of poverty and achieving gender equality through education, mentorship, and training. Founded in 2008 and formally registered as a charity in 2014, One Girl Can has spent over 15 years empowering girls in Kenya to rise above barriers and realize their potential through a holistic model that supports them from high school through university and into meaningful employment.

Our mission is simple but powerful: to equip high-potential, underserved girls with the tools, confidence, and opportunities to achieve financial independence and transform their lives, their families, and their communities. Our vision is for every One Girl Can graduate to earn a meaningful living.

At the heart of our work is our Cycle of Empowerment — a continuum of support that begins when a girl enters secondary school and continues as she becomes an educated, employed, and empowered woman who, in turn, gives back to her community. Through this cycle, our students become role models and mentors for the next generation, creating a ripple effect of opportunity and leadership.

Our model is built on three interconnected pillars:

- We Educate: We identify the most vulnerable, high-potential girls and provide scholarships to access secondary and university education. Education is the first step in transforming a girl’s life and unlocking her potential.

Since 2019, One Girl Can has expanded its programmatic work in Kenya to include leadership and life-skills training, mentorship programming, and career development initiatives that bridge the gap between education and employment. In 2025, we launched the Opening Doors Mentorship Program in partnership with the Opening Doors Foundation to help university graduates navigate their transition into the workforce.

Most recently, One Girl Can hosted the inaugural “I LEARN FROM HER” Conference & Gala in Nairobi, gathering over 200 graduates, mentors, and industry professionals for three days of learning, connection, and inspiration. The event marked the beginning of a new chapter in our commitment to build pathways from education to employment for our students and alumni.

**Why Girls?**

**Economic Growth**: Studies have shown that for every additional year a girl stays in school, her income potential increases by 10% to 20%. When girls stay in school longer, they are more likely to enter the workforce, earn higher wages, and contribute to the economic development of their communities and nations.

**Improved Health**: Educated girls and their families enjoy better health outcomes. They are more likely to marry later, have fewer children, and make informed decisions about their reproductive health.

**Poverty Reduction**: Girls' education plays a crucial role in breaking the cycle of poverty. Educated women are better equipped to lift themselves and their families out of poverty through improved employment opportunities and income generation.

**Social Development**: Educated girls contribute to the social development of their communities by fostering positive social change and promoting social cohesion. They are more likely to engage in community development initiatives, volunteerism, and advocacy for social justice issues.

**Why sub-Saharan Africa**

Primary and some secondary schooling is provided free in most sub-Saharan countries. Yet, there are still costs involved. 

Uniforms, books, stationery and other supplies all have to be paid for by parents or families. And when there is not enough to go round, boys are at the front of the line.

Without a uniform, there is no school. Without books, there is no school.

Without sanitary pads, there is no school.

TBA Foundation

Manzil Mystics empowers underserved youth through music, creating safe, joyful learning spaces and building skills for the future.

Manzil Mystics was founded by a group of young musicians who grew up in low-income families in Delhi and found their voice through Manzil; a learning community and nonprofit started by an IIM Ahmedabad graduate, Ravi Gulati. The nurturing and creative environment of Manzil gave them not just music, but confidence, purpose, and a happy, safe space to grow. Five of these youth (the co-founders of Manzil Mystics) went on to earn 100% scholarships to study in the USA. On returning, they realized that over 4.4 million children in Delhi-and millions more across India—lack the same opportunities to learn and express themselves through music.

They also discovered a deeper gap: while India has a centuries-old musical heritage, there was no structured, inclusive initiative to make music education accessible and meaningful for every child. To change this, they founded Manzil Mystics; a nonprofit dedicated to using the power of music to educate, empower, and create livelihoods.

Our vision is simple yet powerful: every child deserves at least one hour of happy and safe space each week through music to learn, express, and heal.

Our mission is to enable access to quality music education for 1 million children by 2027 through our Learning Through Music (LTM) model, which combines education, livelihood, and community-building. We aim to nurture a generation of creative, empathetic, and confident children—while helping young musicians from low-income backgrounds earn dignified livelihoods as music facilitators.

Core Programs:

1. Learning Through Music:

A Curriculum implemented in government and low-income schools, this curriculum integrates music with academics and life skills, helping children develop focus, empathy, and confidence while learning subjects like language, math, and social-emotional awareness through songs.

2. Learning Through Music Fellowship:

An 18-month livelihood and leadership program for young musicians from underserved communities. Fellows are trained, mentored, and placed in schools to teach music while earning a stipend transforming both their own lives and those of thousands of children.

3. The Music Bus:

India’s first mobile music school, the Bus brings music to communities with little or no access. It creates joyful, safe learning spaces in schools and neighborhoods, reaching thousands of children and families each year.

Why It Matters: In a country of over 52 million children under 18 children struggle with anxiety, stress, and lack of creative outlets, Manzil Mystics uses music as a pathway to mental wellness, self-expression, and social change. Music helps children learn better, feel safer, and believe in themselves. It bridges divides of gender, class, and faith—making it a universal language of hope and belonging.

Our Future:

By 2027, we aim to reach 1 million children and train 1,000 community musicians across India, creating a movement that redefines learning—not just as academics, but as joyful exploration through music.

Manzil Mystics

The Dragonfly Collective provides funding to birth mothers following adoptive placement.

The Dragonfly Collective was established to address the lack of support for birth mothers who have made the courageous decision to place their child for adoption. Post-placement, many of these women face significant challenges, including financial hardship, emotional distress, and a need for further education and career development. Our foundation aims to bridge this gap by providing comprehensive emergency assistance, ensuring that birth mothers can transition smoothly and regain stability in their lives.

The group will leverage every tool, connection, and opportunity to provide birth mothers with the support they need to thrive. Our organization supports these extraordinary women with essential resources, including living expenses, transportation, counseling, and education (including GED preparation, community college, and trade school), enabling them to secure a more hopeful future.

Edified Generation Rwanda (EGR) is a non-profit organization working in Rwanda to secure the future of the next generation through providing access to a holistic education. The story of our existence is one of gratitude, the Founders are the former beneficiaries of the First Lady of Rwanda's Foundation known as the [Imbuto Foundation](https://www.imbutofoundation.org/) that supported our education. After graduating, driven by the heart of giving back to the community, we Founded Edified Generation Rwanda. We are also registered in the United States of America, Washington DC, as a tax-exempt organization under IRC Section 501(c)(3). Transforming young lives in South Africa’s Eastern Cape by giving disadvantaged students hope, opportunity and quality education.

HISTORY

Get Ahead Schools was established in 1992 under the Get Ahead Project Trust (NPO 033-051, PBO 130002093) with a bold vision:  to give black, Xhosa-speaking preschool children in Komani (formerly Queenstown), Eastern Cape, the chance to “get ahead” in life by accessing quality English-medium education. What began as a single preschool class of 26 children has grown, through community demand and trust, into a network of three low-fee, independent schools – two primary schools and one high school – collectively serving over 1,100 students from Grade 0 to Grade 12.

Our schools are located in Komani and Whittlesea, deeply rural towns in the Eastern Cape. The region is one of South Africa’s poorest, marked by high unemployment, poverty and limited access to quality education. Despite this, Get Ahead has consistently delivered strong results, becoming a beacon of opportunity and hope in the community.

MISSION AND GOALS

Our mission is to prepare students for a rapidly changing world by:

- Creating an environment that fosters innovation, creativity, resilience, and adaptability.
- Empowering students to become independent, responsible citizens and future leaders.
- Cultivating entrepreneurial mindsets, encouraging critical thinking and problem-solving.
- Recruiting, investing in, and retaining a diverse team of dedicated educators and professionals.

Our overarching goal is simple yet transformative: to break cycles of poverty and inequality by equipping young people with the education, values and skills to thrive in higher education, employment and society.

CORE FOCUS AREAS:

1. ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE

We offer a fully integrated academic programme that is externally benchmarked, orientated towards the Independent Examinations Board (IEB) in all grades, and offers both academic excellence and dedicated academic support. We follow South Africa’s CAPS curriculum across our primary schools, while our high school, Get Ahead College, offers the IEB qualification – the only IEB school within a 200km radius. This internationally recognized credential ensures our students gain access to top universities and future career pathways. With a consistent matric pass rate above the provincial and national average (91% in 2024), our results prove the impact of our approach.

2. DIGITAL ACCESS

We embrace technology as an enabler:  we use technology to bring the world to Komani, and take Komani to the world. Recognizing the digital divide in our communities, we invested in laying private internet fibre to our campuses in 2023/24. Today, all three campuses have stable Wi-Fi, ensuring students and teachers can integrate digital learning daily. Many of our students do not have computers or connectivity at home, so this access is critical for leveling the playing field.

3. STUDENT WELLBEING

Every child feels worthy and validated, and staff flourish in an environment that is empowering and positively challenging. Families feel a connectedness to the supportive environment of the school. We employ a full-time, qualified social worker who provides counselling, intervention programmes and referral support. This role is vital in communities where abuse, poverty and family instability are common. Our wellbeing programme addresses not just academic but also emotional and social development, ensuring holistic support.

4. SCHOLARSHIPS AND ACCESS

For over 15 years, the Get Ahead College Scholarship Programme has offered academically gifted but financially disadvantaged students access to quality education. Covering 75% of tuition (with families contributing 25%), the programme combines financial assistance with mentorship, counselling, and, when needed, discretionary support such as uniforms, food or medical care. In 2025, 37 students benefitted from full or partial scholarships.

PAST AND RECENT ACHIEVEMENTS (2021 to 2025):

Scholarship Programme:  37 full and partial scholarships funded by local and international donors and LiftEd Canada.

Student Wellbeing Programme:  Expanded counselling and intervention services for at-risk students.

Digital Fibre Installation:  A 7.5km fibre line project, ensuring digital access across campuses.

Solar Power Installation:  Installing solar systems across all campuses, ensuring uninterrupted teaching and reducing operational costs.

These projects reflect our commitment to innovation, resilience and sustainability in the face of South Africa’s systemic challenges.

CURRENT ACTIVITIES

Delivering CAPS and IEB curricula across three campuses.

Offering comprehensive extra-curricular activities, including sports, debating, arts and cultural programmes.

Running professional development workshops for teachers.

Maintaining strong partnerships with local and international organizations, including LiftEd Canada, Branksome Hall, Twizza and the Queenstown Education Foundation.

Expanding scholarship support for high-potential students in need.

Hosting community outreach initiatives such as blood drives and support for local old-age homes.

FUTURE PLANS

Looking ahead, Get Ahead Schools aims to:

Expand the Scholarship Programme to support more students, ensuring access for those who would otherwise be excluded due to poverty.

Develop a middle-school programme enabling students with IT, coding and robotic skills.

Strengthen wellbeing services by expanding our counselling programme and building capacity to address mental health challenges among youth.

Deepen sustainability efforts by further reducing operational costs through green energy initiatives and diversifying funding streams.

Grow partnerships locally and internationally to bring additional expertise, resources, and opportunities to our students.

Saath founded in 1989 serves the informal sector through education, livelihood, health, & financial literacy and inclusion.  

Saath is a Public Charitable Trust, founded in 1989, with an aim to support those underserved. Saath in Hindi/Gujarati means ‘together, co-operation, or a collective support. The organization is dedicated to empowering the marginalized communities, by providing livelihood opportunities, access to health care, education, financial literacy and inclusion through varied interventions developed organically in a participatory manner. The goal is to build ownership from within the community to ensure sustainability and impactful transformations, especially for women and children.

**Vision:** Saath envisions inclusive and empowered communities and individuals.

**Mission:** To make human settlements equitable living environments where all residents and vulnerable people have access to health, education, essential infrastructure services and livelihood options, irrespective of their economic and social status.

**Approach:** Saath engages organizations, corporates and individuals from India and globally as partners and supporters. Saath initiated the Integrated Community Development Program, an undertaking that seeks to rejuvenate slums into vibrant neighbourhoods. Saath works with slum residents, children, women, youth, informal sector workers, and vulnerable people in urban and rural areas. It addresses multiple needs of the socio-economically vulnerable with one-stop solutions, through which slum residents have access to basic services for holistic growth.

**Saath’s Thematic areas:**

**Livelihood** - The livelihood programs at Saath focus on making individuals financially independent either by equipping them with vocational training (traditional and non-traditional) or supporting them through entrepreneurial support. Women have been at the core of this initiative. Till date Saath has actively supported **72,809** youth and women for vocational training. Out of which 5200 are successful entrepreneurs. 3,200 women have been trained in non-traditional livelihoods.

**Education** - Saath has supported almost **23,066** children through various educational initiatives.\*\*\*\* The three main strategies tailored to the specific needs of communities are:

**Balghar:** Launched in 2004 as pre-school spaces designed to provide a nurturing educational environment for the holistic development of children. Activities within these spaces concentrate on addressing a child's cognitive, socio-economic, physiological, psychological, and nutritional needs. Serving as demonstration spaces, Balghar complements government-run anganwadis (Pre-schools), catering to the same age group of children. The ultimate goal of the Balghar is to seek admission for the child into a mainstream school, to further her education.  

**Child-Friendly Spaces:** Is a vital initiative aimed at offering a secure environment for child laborers and the offspring of construction workers, addressing their comprehensive developmental requirements. Frequently left unsupervised due to the absence of parental care, these children are at risk of being compelled into child labor. 

**STEM Education:** Is dedicated to enhancing the quality of education in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics through specially developed Centres, equipped with hands-on learning material, an essential need for children from marginalized communities, particularly girls, who often lack opportunities to pursue these subjects. The STEM experience also presents to them varied career opportunities which they can now seek out and explore. 

**Health –** Health has been an integral part of Saath’s working since its inception, strongly believing that health has an implication on every aspect of a person’s life. Till date Saath has supported **8,22,040** through various interventions, health awareness programs and referral linkages especially focusing on reproductive and child health, vaccination, immunization, Tuberculosis and malnourishment among the vulnerable communities.

**Livelihood:** The livelihood program focusses on making indiviuals financially independent either by equipping them with vocational training (traditional & non-traditional) or supporting them through entreprenurial support. Women have been at the core of this initiative. Till date Saath has actively supported 76,788 youth and women through vocational training. 8,832 have been supported through Microentrepreneurship (ME) interventions. 

**Integrated Area Development (IAD) -** The goal of IAD is bringing together & empowering communities to address issues affecting the quality of their life. The program includes extensive mapping, identification of problem areas and prioritizing them on the basis of severity and urgency. All done in a participatory manner to build ownership from with the community. Committees are then formed and empowered to take these issues to the local government for redressal. 25000 households have been supported through the IAD and more than 500 problems have been resolved. 

**Financial inclusion –** The program aims to build a habit of saving among the community members, no matter how small the amount be. The intervention started in Rajasthan in 2016 spread to Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat as well. Saath has till date supported over **30,000** beneficiaries through various financial inclusion interventions.

Urban Product is a nonprofit boosting social impact by incubating and scaling sustainable, redistributive solutions

Urban Product (UP) is convinced that there is a multitude of brilliant and committed people and organizations that have put in place highly useful sustainable solutions to global challenges. At the same time, UP realizes that these products and services do not reach a large proportion of the population, limiting their social impact. UP's mission is to be a social incubator for the “redistribution of sustainable solutions”. In concrete terms, UP has launched the UP Energise project, piloted by Energise Cameroon, which aims to increase access in Cameroon to green, reliable energy sources as a lever for socio-economic development. To achieve this, UP is building bridges between initiatives led by the diaspora and citizens wishing to contribute to a form of energy justice yet to be invented.

UP is aimed directly at:- members of diasporas established in Belgium/Europe/US who, in various forms, maintain links of solidarity with their country of origin, either individually or via associations (formal or informal);- other citizens interested in better understanding the dynamics of solidarity carried by diasporas, also interested in climate justice issues. In the near future, UP would also like to reach out to private-sector players who, as part of their corporate social responsibility, could also make a contribution.UP's “Fair Energy” concept is likely to be extended to countries other than Cameroon in the future, but the idea will always be to focus on projects where access to green, reliable energy can either - strengthen/improve the distribution of basic services (education, health, water, etc.) - or contribute to sustainable local economic development. Bangladesh will be piloted in 2025, Democratic Republic of Congo is in an explorative phase.

Finally, what are our main activities? 

- Social mining activities: fieldwork to reach out to the diasporas (e.g. tontine groups, association parties, gathering places, investor circles, etc.) to explore, better understand and enhance the dynamics that exist and support them. 
- Prospecting to identify local technical and financial partners (in Cameroon & Bangladesh for the moment) offering reliable, sustainable solutions that guarantee a high level of professionalism in needs analysis, installation and after-sales service of the proposed solutions.
- Consulting support to find or develop the most appropriate financial mechanisms to fund projects.
- Organization of “Diaspora Economics” cafe-debates, with the aim of creating greater mutual understanding between citizens. 
- Publication of analyses/studies; hosting of student-interns interested in the social economy and social impact.
