Founded in 1995, the AWC Scholarship Program provides rural, low income Thai girls with scholarships to complete high school.

The AWC Scholarship Program awards scholarships annually to female high school students in 28 schools across 21 provinces in central and northern Thailand. In the 2025-26 school year, our donors sponsored 300 students.

Each $200 USD scholarship allows a student to pay the extra, mandatory costs of high school that are not covered by the government (books, uniforms, supplies, meals and transportation). These costs can be prohibitive to low income families and often girls have to leave school because their families cannot pay them.

Eligibility criteria for young women in grades 10-12 (M4-M6) are good academic performance (> 2.5GPA), a low family income, good behavior and a commitment to education while building a sustainable community. ​

The Transformative Justice Center

A community-supported independent library & artist workshop of printed material, fiscally sponsored by Intersection for the Arts.

The Prelinger Library in San Francisco offers thousands of historical maps, zines, documents, books and other materials, all of which are available for artists to reference or reuse. Its collections serve activists, writers, musicians, composers, poets, novelists, journalists, and historians. The Library was established in 2004 and has served over ten thousand reserach visits. Its collections have supported the production of artists talks series, films, novels as well as open-ended explorations by people working across all media types. As a 100% community-supported project, the Library s free to pursue equity and justice, abolition and libration, and to serve the community as a trans- and queer-safe space and infoshop for survival and resistance. The Library puts hospitality first and offers sparkling water or tea to every visitor.

The collections also hold government-produced documents from eras when artists and writers were widely employed in their production, offering art and literature in unexpected places as well as roadmaps toward civil societies. With stacks materials ranging from eighteenth century documents to works produced this week, the room serves as a slip in spacetime within which a couple hundred years of human experience and experiments can be browsed. Library hosts represent a range of subject-matter expertises including public transportation, radio science, zine making, natural history, library science, book arts, moving image history and production, and nonfiction writing.

Founded in 2011 by filmmaker and activist Jennifer Siebel Newsom, The Representation Project uses storytelling to shift culture and spark change. Her groundbreaking film *Miss Representation* ignited a national conversation about sexism and the underrepresentation of women and girls in media. Her second documentary, *The Mask You Live In*, brought urgently needed attention to the crisis of unhealthy masculinity, revealing how rigid expectations placed on boys and men fuel emotional suppression, violence, substance abuse, and isolation, while also harming women and communities. The film calls men and boys into healthy masculinity and active allyship, showing that gender equity benefits everyone.

Jennifer’s later films, *The Great American Lie* (2019) and *Fair Play* (2022), further examine inequality in the American Dream and the division of care and domestic labor, reinforcing the interconnected nature of gender justice, economic fairness, and well-being.

Together, these films challenging harmful gender narratives have been viewed nearly 30 million times, and our educational curricula have reached over 2 million students. Our work affirms what Siebel Newsom has long known: storytelling opens hearts and minds like nothing else, shifting attitudes and behaviors. This is culture transformation at its most powerful — creating a world where people of all genders can show up fully and thrive.

Why It’s Urgent

Gender stereotypes are a public health crisis. Two-thirds of young women experience disordered eating, and one in three girls has seriously considered suicide. At the same time, boys and young men who internalize rigid ideas about masculinity are significantly more likely to experience depression, suicidal ideation, substance abuse, and to perpetrate violence or harassment.

These outcomes are not inevitable; they are learned. By challenging harmful messages and promoting **healthy masculinities, emotional literacy, and allyship**, we can change the trajectory for young people and communities.

We believe no woman should endure a life of misery and isolation, simply for trying to bring a child into the world. 

Obstetric fistula is a devastating childbirth injury. It leaves a woman incontinent, humiliated, and—all too often—shunned by her community. Obstetric fistula ranks as one of humanity’s most disabling injuries—but it can be cured by a surgery that costs $624. Few investments in human health can yield such a dramatic impact on a woman, her family, and her community. 

At least one million women today suffer for want of a surgery that can transform their lives. Living primarily in rural areas of Africa and Asia, women suffering with untreated fistula or severe perineal tears (a similar childbirth injury that causes fecal incontinence) endure the burden of debilitating injuries on top of crushing poverty and gender inequality.

There are three main barriers that prevent them from accessing the care they need: Stigma and lack of awareness, poverty, and inadequate healthcare systems.

Fistula Foundation has a proven model: We help where the need is greatest. We partner with carefully selected doctors and hospitals that are trusted by the communities they serve. ESRI provides comprehensive, free preschool for thousands of children in Ethiopia and an  income generation program for Mothers.


*ESRI is a high quality, comprehensive, preschool program for disadvantaged Ethiopian children which gives them the tools to succeed at school.*  The *ESRI Mothers Empowerment Program provides vocational training for selected mothers and helps them establish businesses. The cost to support each mother is $350.*                                                                                                                   In addition to a full classroom cognitive learning program, ESRI's comprehensive program includes continuing teacher education, evaluation of children's progress, parenting education, social services, and access to physical and behavioral health services for the children and families..
Since the first classrooms opened in 2007 ESRI has opened 136 pre-schools in 9 Regions throughout Ethiopia including rural areas   Over 75,000 students have benefited from an ESRI preschool education. ESRI partners with the Regional Boards of Education to implement the program. The ESRI program includes a 3-year curriculum, intensive teacher training and rigorous quality control. Behavioral management and health screening with referrals as needed and a parenting education program are also part of the ESRI comprehensive program. ESRI has trained over 2,500 preschool teachers and primary caregivers of children.
Ethiopian children enter first grade at age 7, unprepared to learn. Many fall behind quickly, lose interest, and by the end of the first grade 25% have dropped out of school. Over 50% drop out by the end of fourth grade. The data indicates that the children who drop out are the children who fall behind.
The Mother’s Empowerment Program is an integral and vital part of ESRI’s Comprehensive program. Selected Mothers in each of the 8 Regions attend training in their chosen fields. When the mothers complete their training, they receive materials so they can set up businesses. Past business includes commercial poultry, tailoring, injera baking and restaurants.
ESRI  arranges mentoring for the mothers as they establish their chosen business.
Mothers who have participated in this ESRI program report the impact on their lives includes decreased stress and increased self-esteem for themselves and better nutrition, improved housing, and a path out of poverty and a sense of hope for the future for the entire family.
ESRI’s expansion into the Regions of Ethiopia requires more preschool teachers. in the regions. To address this issue and to ensure the quality of preschool teachers for the future, ESRI has partnered with Addis Ababa University and Arizona State University to train the Faculty in Teahers' Colleges in 9 Regions in Ethiopia in a new 3-year College curriculum for pre-school teachers.   This program is currently offered in 9 Teachers Colleges in 9 Regions of Ethiopia.  This program improves  the quality of preschool education throughout the Country.

Our impact increases exponentially through the Association of young women educated with CAMFED’s support. CAMFED supports girls in government primary and secondary schools across Zimbabwe, Zambia, Ghana, Tanzania and Malawi to access school, succeed, and become leaders of change in their communities.

in Charlottesville and the surrounding counties.

LGBTQIA+ people need spaces of our own where we can take refuge, build resilient communities, and organize for our collective liberation. RAQC provides a safe and loving home for the queer community in Charlottesville and the surrounding counties. Programming at RAQC addresses multiple areas of need: support groups, peer counseling, and on-site mental health professionals contribute to the emotional wellbeing of our community. Classes and workshops on topics as diverse as screen printing, foraging, and self defense address our physical and creative needs. Social events like mixers, parties, and performances ensure that our region’s vibrant queer culture continues to flourish. In addition to our own programming, RAQC also serves as a safe and accessible space where all local queer organizations and individuals can host their own events.

Vote Mama Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, is building the political power of moms by identifying and researching solutions to the structural barriers moms face running for and serving in elected office.

Vote Mama Foundation research shows that moms with minor children make up less than 8% of state legislators and less than 7% of congressional representatives. Moms face extraordinary structural and cultural barriers to elected office, like the inability to afford childcare while campaigning without a salary or while commuting long distances to the capitol.

Abortion Freedom Fund supports accessible, affordable, evidence-based abortion pills by mail for all. Our mission is to help pregnant people take control of their healthcare and futures by dismantling medicalized control of abortion and encouraging a world where abortion pills are over the counter.

We simplify access to care for patients by funding virtual abortion providers and clinics, individuals accessing telehealth abortions, and reimbursing local funds for telehealth abortion care, allowing them to focus their resources on people seeking procedural abortions in their communities.

In addition to direct funding, we partner with organizations doing research and other activism to increase access to abortions.

Our core aims are:

History of DPNA



The Development for People and Nature Association (DPNA) was founded in 2003 by a passionate group of activists who saw the pressing need for a structured approach to sustainable development in Lebanon. Initially starting with a small, dedicated team, DPNA set out to tackle the challenges faced by marginalized communities, particularly those in rural and underdeveloped areas. From these modest beginnings, DPNA has grown into a prominent non-governmental organization (NGO) with a significant impact on both social and environmental issues locally and regionally.



DPNA's founders were motivated by a vision of creating lasting positive change through collaborative efforts and sustainable practices. Over the years, the organization has expanded its scope and influence, becoming known for its innovative approaches and impactful projects aimed at improving the quality of life for Lebanon's most vulnerable populations. Youth TimeBanking is a community service practice for supporting youth to increase awareness of community organizations and expand their social connections.  YTB is experiential learning in the interests of building community.  YTB introduces youth to principles of co-production and servant leadership.  When youth are involved with community, they strengthen their connections to their community and learn about Civic Engagement.  As youth continue with YTB they experience co-production -- a model in which each person contributes to the design and delivery of projects or services.

YTB's Vision is that all youth transition to adulthood with the experience of contributing service to their community. YTB is a system of service exchange that leverages the talents, capabilities, and energies of youth so that they are viewed as partners and co-producers to achieve shared goals and work towards shared visions in our communities.

Youth Earning Time Credits for Community Service Activities - Youth TimeBanking is a nonprofit that provides youth with opportunities through its network of community organizations. YTB is Timebanking customized for youth, a program of giving and receiving where youth earn YTB time credits for their service contributions. Youth take care of Little Free Libraries and community gardens, design logos, participate in virtual events, work on community crochet, and more. YTB time credits earn youth resources-services-opportunities, such as cell phone minutes, refurbished technology, sports gear, school supplies, arts-crafts supplies, books, coaching sessions, digital inclusion, lessons, etc. YTB is a youth-adult partnership in which youth develop strengths, make community connections, and experience something bigger than themselves. Enfants de Mathare financially supports the **Roots Institute Centre (RIC),** a primary school in Mathare, one of the largest slums in Nairobi, Kenya. RIC provides free quality education, nutritious meals and a safe environment for vulnerable children of Mathare.

**To be born into Mathare offers little hope of escape. Many of these children will never experience life without violence, hunger or sickness. Joyful, intelligent, and resilient, the children of Mathare deserve the chance for a better future but they need your help to break free from the cycle of poverty.**

Our aim is to raise enough funds to cover RIC’s annual operational costs, which includes teacher salaries and food for the student meals. Every school year we also try to sponsor scholarships for a secondary education for some of our best performing students.

Our long term goal is to build a permanent building that will replace the current corrugated steel structure RIC is housed in. We hope that this new building will serve as a central point for education and training for the entire community.

Every child deserves access to education. It is a basic human right. Yet in Sub-Saharan Africa, over one fifth of primary school aged children are not in school. That’s just not right. 

So They Can is an international NGO on a mission to change this. They work with vulnerable communities and their governments in Kenya and Tanzania to educate and empower children, so they can break the poverty cycle, realise their own potential and meet their own needs. 

Over a 7-10 year development cycle, So They Can works closely with a community to understand their needs and implement projects that will best support them. Throughout the cycle, they develop relationships and ensure transfer of knowledge and management skills to these communities to ensure sustainability of the programs. This enables them to eventually shift to a governance role so we can expand our focus and core resources to help other vulnerable communities.

Since being founded in 2008, the DFAT accredited NGO has partnered with 42 schools and helped deliver quality education to over 24,000 students.

The Jeneba Project transforms the lives of girls in Sierra Leone via a high quality foundational and civics education.

The Sengbe Pieh senior secondary excellence academy is dedicated to granting dozens of promising young women access to a quality high school education and to paving a way for them to forge a bright future. Through the academy, students not only gain strong academic foundations but also learn to establish their voice, gain awareness of their rights, take pride in and ownership of their minds and bodies, and gain the confidence to march forward and dictate their own successes. 

We aim to transform the face of education for girls in Sierra Leone with a mission to foster intellectual growth, develop leadership and catalyze social impact across communities.

We focus on four pillars of success:

1. Education quality: Our small class cohorts of 24 girls are taught by six subject matter teachers, which enables the personalized attention needed to achieve strong academic foundations. 

2. Civic and Female Empowerment: On “Special Fridays”, we teach topics key to civic education with a special focus on female empowerment.

3. Critical Thinking: By moving from corporal punishment to PBIS (Positive behavioral interventions and support) techniques, we create an environment where girls feel comfortable posing questions rather than avoiding wrong answers.

4. International exposure: We host international guest lecturers onsite. In the past, these partners have expanded computer literacy skills; taught girls about their reproductive systems; and conducted art therapy to foster self-esteem and resolve conflicts.

Black Sisters in STEM (Black SiS) helps Black Gen Z women breaking into STEM careers share, learn, and get hired.

Vision: Reinventing the path for Black women in early career stages pursuing STEM-based careers.

Black women constitute only 2 percent of STEM jobs. A statistic that has been stagnant since 2018. Black Women represent the largest unserved market and largest disruptive force in business. Black women struggle at every stage of the STEM pipeline. It’s not due to lack of desire, or capacity, it’s to lack of support.

Black Sisters in STEM (Black SiS) is on a mission to unleash the global brilliance of Gen Z Black Women by reinventing their journey towards STEM based careers. We are building and upskilling the largest talent marketplace of Black Gen Z women to systematically address the racial wealth gap and create generational socio-economic growth. In short, we help Black Gen Z women breaking into STEM careers share, learn, and get hired.

We have built an empire of ~8k Black women from 33 countries and 200+ schools. Growing membership at 75% YoY. Most importantly, earning our fellows $4M+ in compensation packages. From Lagos, Nigeria to Atlanta, GA we are building a career community the world has never seen.


Black Sisters in STEM (Black SiS)

Nyanam is a restorative justice organization preparing widows to lead positive community transformation.

We are a restorative justice organization, preparing widows to be leaders of positive social transformation in their communities through integrated programs in leadership, health, livelihoods and justice. Our work alleviates widowhood poverty, mitigates the impact of HIV/AIDS, and gives widows the tools to tackle oppressive cultural, economic, and social practices that undermine widows’ dignity and limit their agency.

Past and current activities 
Our unit of operation is the leadership circles, which are self-led widow-to-widow support groups that meet on a weekly basis. We also have youth mentorship groups that organize and meet weekly during school holidays. In the leadership circles, widows offer each other spiritual, emotional, and economic support, replacing isolation and loneliness with communities of friendship. These circles consolidate their collective voice to guide the design and implementation of Nyanam’s work. As an organization, we have five main program areas that guide how we engage with Nyanam widows and their children. We use capacity strengthening as the core approach in implementing our programs. Our holistic interventions in leadership, livelihoods, health, justice, and youth education are delivered through our unique curriculum called Voice of Change, a Nyanam’s unique and widow centric training curriculum tailored to respond to the needs and concerns of widows, and uses storytelling, deep listening, and social action as approaches for community transformation. 

Leadership: Widowhood thrusts women into household leadership in patriarchal culture where male headship is valued and expected. We affirm the leadership of widows and harness their potential for community transformation. From the leadership circles, we have trained 640 widows in our various capacities who have in turned trained 780 widows in the same knowledge and skills in their groups. Further, leadership circles conduct Bible studies for spiritual development, personal sharing for emotional support, and table banking for economic development. 

Livelihoods: Our livelihood program has two main components; economic empowerment and sustainable agriculture. We train Nyanam widows in sustainable agriculture, financial literacy, table banking and micro- business skills. We offer them seed funding for their group table banking and businesses, we provide them with vegetable seeds for planting, and new gardening resources (multistorey gardens). 

Health: Nyanam widows' health and well-being is our primary focus. In this program we train our widows in trauma healing, preventative health and counselling. Through our professional and trained counselors, we provide widows with individual and group counseling sessions which support and addresses each widows’ nuanced situation and unique set of challenges, as well as mental health workshops with specific themes at the request of the widows. Further, we have a team of trained community health volunteers that provide monthly health talk sessions in the different leadership circles as well as home visits and health referrals where needed. 

Justice: Access to, ownership and control of land is both a human right and an economic justice for widows. In this program, we raise awareness on widowhood issues and take action to address injustices related to land, housing and widows’ rights. We ensure this through community leaders education and training, conducting conflict resolution sessions among Nyanam widows and their relatives, provide direct legal support to widows who are pursuing their land and property inheritance and succession, provide housing support  by building Nyanam widows dignified houses in partnership with other stakeholders and undertake policy advocacy with different government agencies and policy makers on widows human rights. 

Youth Education: Widows’ children are particularly a population in need of support, as poverty limits the future of both the widows and their families. Guided by our 3-year youth education strategy, we provide capacity training to Nyanam widows children in comprehensive health education, technology and robotics and environmental justice. The training is multiplied in the youth mentorship groups by a group of trained Nyanam youth mentors supported by trained widow matrons. In addition, we provide need based secondary school education sponsorship to widows children to improves student access to secondary education, but also builds students’ communication skills and goal setting through the application and mentorship process. 

In the future we are planning to serve up to 10,000 widows in our region and establish a widow-led cooperative business for financial security and additional income for Nyanam widows improving their financial status and muscles. Further, we seek to expand the work to other communities through training of different partners and stakeholders in our intervention the Voice of Change as a key driver for positive community transformation in the communities of widows.

GirlTREK began with a simple but life-saving promise between two friends: to walk their way to better health and inspire others to do the same; and it is now a grassroots movement powered by everyday women. We are the women we serve. Now, GirlTrek is mobilizing this constituency for its boldest mission yet: a Care Crusade to extend Black women’s life expectancy by 10 years in a decade. These bold campaigns—scaling to 5 million members, establishing community wellness hubs “Care Villages”, training a Blue Brigade of health responders, and advancing policies to dismantle systemic barriers—will build lasting systems of care and inspire future generations.

 The Fund for Congolese Women (FFC)   supports women's grassroots organizations through financial and technical assistance.  FFC is unique - the only women-led grant-giving NGO in the entire DRC. We provide grants to local women-led organizations that are often in the most remote, difficult to reach areas.   Why? We are unshakable believers in local solutions to local issues.  We know that the brave women and girls working at the grassroots level have the solutions. We know that when women become agents of change, they benefit, their families benefit, their communities benefit. Since its inception in 2007, FFC has funded more than 386 projects throughout the Democratic Republic of Congo.
