Founded in 2001, San Francisco Zine Fest seeks to advance the do-it-yourself ethos by fostering community throughout the Bay Area. In our annual festival and its accompanying panels and workshops, we celebrate and support independent writers, artists and creators, allowing them to share their work with an ever-growing audience in exhibitions and public events.
SF Zine Fest is held every year on Labor Day weekend—generally the first weekend in September—and it features over 220 exhibitors and 3000+ attendees.
SF Zine Fest provides space for independent artists to create zines and distribute them to a receptive and supportive audience. Throughout the year, SF Zine Fest organizers partner with Bay Area arts organizations, libraries and community centers to offer zinemaking workshops.
SF Zine Fest is committed to representing the diversity of the Bay Area zinemaking community, and its organizers do so by programming the festival with exhibitors from historically marginalized communities and by selecting diverse guests of honor.
The festival hosts screen printing and risograph printing workshops, and kid-friendly zones and stations. Throughout the year, San Francisco Zine Fest organizers partner with Bay Area organizations such as KQED, San Francisco and Oakland libraries, bookstores, and community centers to offer workshops, teach classes, and appear at events to promote zinemaking.
