Cohort Retreat for THRIVE: A BIPOC Arts Leadership Program

Intersection for the Arts is a bedrock Bay Area arts nonprofit that’s dedicated to helping artists grow. Through vital resources, including fiscal sponsorship, low-cost coworking and event space, and professional development programs, we empower people to continue creating, thinking big, and taking weird and wonderful risks.

We believe art and culture are necessary elements of wellbeing. That’s why we serve people working in the arts—from artists to educators to administrators to funders.

We take the stance that artists should be at the top of the systems that were originally created to support their work. Art institutions would not exist but for artists’ creativity, sweat, blood, tears, and enormously generous hearts. We support those who take matters into their own capable hands and make their own opportunities. We stand by artists every day in their efforts to make our communities better, healthier, more exciting and dynamic places to live our lives.

Donate $60 for 60 Years of Intersection

OUR IMPACT Intersection for the Arts is an essential arts service organization providing comprehensive support and resources to hundreds of Bay Area artists. We empower their voices and visions through a variety of resources: artist residencies, fiscal sponsorship, professional development, a space to create, and opportunities for community and collaboration. Through membership, Intersection makes possible the visionary work of over 145 multidisciplinary art projects Half of our fiscally sponsored members are BIPOC , and 84% serve marginalized communities . Collectively, they provide vital arts programs and cultural strategies to foster change and healing. Intersection has been a part of the cultural fabric and landscape of San Francisco for 60 years. Always evolving, but always connected to the belief in artists as changemakers. WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP We are seeking your partnership to help artists during a period of financial and cultural uncertainty. Fiscal sponsorship fees cover only 45 % of our operating budget. Each year, Intersection must fundraise up to 50% of our operating budget. Your donation makes what we do possible.   By supporting Intersection, you are helping make thousands of arts programs and events happen every year. This is because your support directly benefits artists through our programs, including: AIR , our Artist-in-Residence program; THRIVE , our BIPOC arts leadership program; and AFEC , our Arts Finance Empowerment Camp.  Intersection has been an anchor for artists for six decades. For our 60th anniversary, we invite you to help ensure that Intersection can continue to empower artists so they can meet this challenging moment with vision, power, and strength. Please consider supporting Intersection with a tax-deductible donation of $60  for our 60th anniversary (or whatever amount feels right for you). Together, we can keep imagining — and building — a more just, joyful world where creativity leads the way. Here’s to the next 60 years — together!
