Los Angeles Community Garden Council

An endowment protecting the Los Cedros cloud forest forever.

Held in the mists of the Ecuadorian Tropical Andes, a scientific station works with local communities to protect a cloud forest known as Los Cedros (“The Cedars”). The station encourages artists, educators, and researchers to connect with and learn from Los Cedros, whose walking palm trees and old growth lift racket-tail hummingbirds and critically endangered brown-headed spider monkeys into the clouds. Decades of interdependent artwork and scientific discovery from the station—including over 100 publications—factored into the 2021 [decision of Ecuador’s highest court](https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2021/dec/02/plan-to-mine-in-ecuador-forest-violate-rights-of-nature-court-rules-aoe) to ban extractive practices in the forest by upholding Los Cedros’ constitutional rights to exist and to thrive.

This ruling set a monumental precedent for worldwide Rights of Nature efforts. Yet mining companies continue to apply pressure to Los Cedros communities and Ecuadorian authorities—and if mining comes to pass in Los Cedros, it will devastate one of the most biodiverse and endemic forests in the world. Home to thousands of wildlife species, Los Cedros spans 6000 hectares of mostly primary forest habitat. There, the threatened spectacled bear builds a tree bed to feast on aguacatillo berries (tiny avocados), and the elusive jaguar has left her tracks on the banks of waterfalls. In the abundant green shadows, undiscovered fungi, insects, and orchids flourish. A glass frog hides his heartbeat under a leaf.

As one of the rare places where humans can still drink directly from cascading rivers, this refuge also protects numerous watersheds crucial to downstream communities. So, the Los Cedros Fund will prove that the station’s approach of sustainably partnering with the cloud forest and surrounding communities is best for Pachamama—all of Mother Earth, including humans—in the long term.

The Los Cedros Fund is growing an endowment for the cloud forest to be financially self-sufficient. Honoring all who’ve protected the forest for decades, the Los Cedros Fund aims to offer this new watershed of perennial support to the forest to keep artistic, educational, and scientific collaborations flowing.

We support the Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary's goals in Australian wildlife rehab, care, conservation, and community involvement.

Friends of Bonorong was established in 2021, and acts as a fundraising arm to the Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary and Bonorong Wildlife Hospital & Rescue, including its Primary Care Teams. SORBA Orlando is the Orlando/Central Florida chapter of the Southern Off-Road Bicycle Association.

The Founders Pledge Climate Fund exists to leverage each dollar and fund the most effective, neglected climate solutions.

Climate change is an incredibly complex problem borne out of how we produce and consume energy; it's intertwined with challenges of economic development, energy poverty, and emissions-fueled air pollution. It is an environmental and humanitarian crisis we must urgently address.

We aim to take a holistic approach that recognizes the global nature of this challenge and the fact that, despite its urgency, we are still in the early days of climate action. We address the worst-case scenarios of climate damage, and look for solutions that can reduce current carbon emissions and accelerate the transition to clean energy to meet global demand, especially in developing countries. Through the Fund, we:

- Accelerate innovation in neglected technologies
- Catalytically grow the most effective climate organizations
- Promote policy leadership and paradigm shaping

### Our Approach to Grantmaking
When evaluating potential grants, we consider several key points:

- **Counterfactual impact.** Our grants are designed to create a meaningful outcome that would not otherwise have happened. This means that you can rely on the Funds to create meaningful, real change, rather than just maintaining the status quo.
- **Impact-driven philanthropy.** This fund prioritizes the highest-impact solutions to challenges. We assess where the gaps are, which opportunities may be neglected by other funders, and where the biggest wins are in terms of making the biggest difference.
- **The organization’s funding gap.** Not all organizations are set up to scale up their programming and many can’t productively absorb large amounts of unsolicited funding. We evaluate all potential grantees’ capacity for growth and consider how much money they could put to good use.
- **Organizational strength.** Particularly with unrestricted funding, it’s important to have trust in the leadership and capacity of the organizations we support. We look at their track record of success and their transparency about failures as well as successes, and we only support those organizations which are exceptionally well run.
- **Time-critical opportunities and funding certainty.** While Founders Pledge members give to our top climate charities regularly, sometimes there are time-critical opportunities which require fast decisions. We will use the Fund to make grants that enable such short-term opportunities and stability for high-impact funding opportunities thereby increasing the impact compared to individual giving to specific organizations.
- **Portfolio approach.** Because most climate damage comes from particular severe outcomes – with a world of 4 degrees of warming being much worse than twice as bad as a world with 2 degrees – and because every particular strategy – such as energy innovation – might underdeliver, we pursue a portfolio approach to maximize positive impact. This means we will diversify our bets in ways that, when one approach fails (such as energy innovation), the others we promote (such as carbon removal) can be expected to be particularly important and still available.

### Frequently-Asked Questions

**Can charities apply for money from the Fund?**
The Funds do not generally accept applications from charities, and we request that charities do not send unsolicited applications for funding. If the Fund Managers choose to open up an application round, this will be publicized.

**How frequently will you make grants from the Fund?**
In general, Fund Managers will review grantmaking decisions on a quarterly basis. Decisions will be made based on the value of Funds and the available options for high-impact grantmaking. We may disburse funds outside of quarterly review dates if we become aware of a particularly promising and time-sensitive funding.

**How will my contribution be used?**
All funds are granted out. The Fund is not an investment vehicle. The Fund does not use any percentage of contributions to cover staff time or other overhead costs. Every dollar contributed to the Fund will be used to make grants directly to end-user organizations creating a real difference.

FWI reduces the suffering of farmed fish by researching and executing evidence-based interventions in high-priority contexts.

The mission of Fish Welfare Initiative (FWI) is to reduce the suffering of farmed fish as much as possible. We do that specifically by researching and testing evidence-based welfare interventions, and then implementing them in high priority contexts. Our main implementation program right now focuses on collaborative farmer outreach in India to improve water quality and reduce stocking densities. As of this writing, this program currently works with about 100 farms (www.fwi.fish/farmers). FWI also invests significantly in research to identify and test more promising welfare improvements (www.fwi.fish/post/rnd-plans-2024).

Fish Welfare Initiative

The Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) is a volunteer-based, non-government organization whose goal is to prevent animal cruelty through education, animal sheltering and advocacy, based in Quezon City, Philippines.

PAWS also runs an animal shelter for over 300 cats and dogs rescued from cruelty or neglect. There, animals are rehabilitated in the hope of finding them new homes and a second chance at a good life.



There is also a low-cost clinic that provides veterinary services to the indigent community, including spay and neuter (kapon).

Aquatic Life Institute is a 501(c)(3) non-profit focused on reducing the suffering of aquatic animals in the global food system.

Aquatic Life Institute (ALI) was founded in 2019 to address the critical and often overlooked issue of aquatic animal welfare. Recognizing that aquatic animals are the most exploited group of animals worldwide yet remain largely unprotected, ALI set out with a mission to drive systemic change and elevate aquatic animal welfare as a priority in global food systems.

KWO is an indigenous women’s organisation serving women and girls in our community in Burma and in refugee camps in Thailand.  

The Karen Women’s Organisation (KWO) currently has a membership of more than 70,000 women living in Karen State, Burma and in refugee camps along the Thai-Burma border. KWO is a leading indigenous women’s organisation working in protection and our programs directly serve women, girls, children, and the most vulnerable people in our community. We promote women’s leadership, gender equality and community ownership in all aspects of our work. KWO is active in four main sectors: Organising and Information Sharing Program, Education Program, Health Program and Social Welfare Program.  KWO is led and staffed entirely by women in our community. KWO participates in the struggle to stop all kinds of oppression of women and of children. We believe in a federal Burma, where all communities have gender equality, the protection and promotion of indigenous people’s rights, human rights, and justice. 


WHAT WE DO

Within our 4 program areas we provide: service delivery, advocacy, awareness raising, and capacity building threaded throughout our daily work and our funded projects. Our work varies from the delivery of hygiene kits for mothers with new-borns, conducting community health and nutrition education, to ensuring safe accommodation for women suffering violence, developing Women’s Protection Laws, to training young women from our Communities to become leaders. 

KWO believes that empowering women will help reduce human rights abuses and encourage an end to discrimination against women. We believe that women have a right to be properly represented in politics and society at large. And we believe that the whole community is better off when women play an equal role with men in decision-making. The 17 individually funded Projects which KWO currently implements in refugee camps and Karen State, run under our 4 programs, and have over 100,500 beneficiaries.

WHERE WE WORK
KWO lives and works in the 7 districts of Karen State, Burma which is in Southeastern Burma and in 7 refugee camps along the Thai-Burma border.

ORGANISING AND INFORMATION SHARING PROGRAM  - KWO’s Organising and Information Sharing Program provides services, advocacy and capacity building to support women’s empowerment, mobilize the community, and sustain the organisation. KWO believes that broad community and organisational education contributes to building a fair and tolerant civil society. We conduct training, events and activities around: women’s rights, indigenous rights, democracy, political awareness, a Federal system for Burma, child protection, human rights, project management, leadership skills, public speaking, financial policy and procedures, KWO policy, landmine awareness, etc.

The Organising and Information Sharing Program Co-ordinators are all Karen women who live in their communities. Work under this Program includes: to conduct community consultations to identify needs, share information in the community about the current situation, including through KWO publications, update KWO’s membership list, co-ordinate with the KWO Social Welfare Program to organize the distribution of humanitarian aid (food and materials) in emergency situations, oversee and monitor all funded KWO projects implemented in the area, arrange and attend meetings for KWO and our network, coordinate with other agencies on issues that affect the community, assist researchers and field trips for visiting individuals, advocate on behalf of vulnerable groups in the community, conduct individual and joint advocacy efforts on the local, national, regional, and international stage.  We currently implement 4 funded projects under this program.

EDUCATION PROGRAM 
KWO’s Education Program provides services, advocacy and capacity building to promote education in our community. We provide schooling where there are gaps in existing education mainstream services in the refugee camps, and in areas in Karen State. We particularly target girls in the community to ensure they have equal access to education, protection, development and care. We also place a significant emphasis on education that promotes and preserves Karen indigenous culture.

Our Education Program Co-ordinators are all Karen women and are part of the community. Every day they work to promote education, to identify children struggling at schools or at home and provide support to the family, and assist with school fees when possible. They monitor and support KWO’s funded education projects in their areas, visit all community schools and give encouragement to students and teachers. They conduct home visits and encourage parents to send children to school, and assist the poorest of the poor children to get into schools. They attend events organized by schools to share positive messages about the benefits of education for all. They meet with education leaders at all levels and advocate for inclusive education, improved child protection mechanisms, and the importance of girls education. We currently implement 7 funded education projects under this program.

SOCIAL WELFARE PROGRAM 
KWO Social Welfare Program provides services, advocacy and capacity building in all sectors of Karen society. We provide direct care and assistance to community members and we work to solve social problems in our community, particularly those that affect women. Due to the failure of Burma’s successive governments to provide care and security for the people, many ethnic groups, like the Karen, have established well-organised and high-functioning social systems. The KWO Social Welfare Program does a lot of the work that a free and democratic national government would normally be offering to the people.

Our Social Welfare Program Co-ordinators are all Karen women and live in their community. Their duties include: identifying and providing care to the most vulnerable members of the community including the elderly, people with disability or chronic illness, and families in trouble; providing assistance in emergencies; help to organize community events and ceremonies; home visits; build capacity and opportunity for women to earn income especially through traditional crafts; be advocates for the best interests of women in justice cases; fight for improvements in laws relating to women and child protection, justice system reform and better enforcement mechanisms both in the refugee camps and within Southeast Burma.

Overall our Program’s main area of focus is to prevent, and respond to Violence Against Women. Under the Social Welfare Program, and its funded project, we provide an enormous amount of training for women, for KWO leaders and staff, for local community leaders, and for the broader community. We currently implement 4 funded projects under this program.

HEALTH PROGRAM 
KWO’s Health Program provides services, advocacy and capacity building to promote better health in our community. Our Health Program activities address common community health issues, like nutrition and hygiene, and we focus on the health needs of women and of children. KWO collaborates with existing community health organisations to support local health workers, to care for patients and the community. We do not offer medical or clinic-based services ourselves.

Our Health Program Co-ordinators are Karen women who live in their communities. Their work includes: to advocate for better access to health services, accompany patients to hospitals or clinics, organise village and stream clean ups, identify health needs of the most vulnerable people and provide support in the home, conduct health education campaigns in the community, share information with families about good health practices, encourage communities to set up kitchen gardens, organise access to clean drinking water, improve village sanitation and the use of built toilets, promote KWO’s key health messages for women’s reproductive health, improve access to safe sanitary materials for all women and girls, monitor any funded KWO Health projects being implemented in their area, educate parents about good nutrition and childcare, advocate for recognition of skilled Traditional Birth Attendants, and for birth registration and birth certificates for all children. We currently implement 2 funded projects under this program.

Charlies Animal Rescue Centre – CARE was established in January 2013 with the aim of providing state of the art, timely medical help to injured and ill street animals in the city of Bangalore. The inspiration behind CARE is Charlie, a differently abled 3 legged Indie dog who was an established figure in the field of animal assisted therapy since 2005. Charlie passed away in 2017 but his legacy lives on in the work at CARE.

As part of our ongoing 3F initiative, the foundation played a key role in enabling Chile to become the first country in the world to include protection of fungi in its environmental legislation. More recently, the foundation proudly announced the Fantastic Fungi Education Curriculum, the world's first mycological set of courses designed for schools.

Rethink Priorities

CETI is a nonprofit org applying advanced machine learning and gentle robotics to listen to and translate whale communication. 

Founded in 2020 as a TED Audacious Project, the organization’s science team is made up of the world's leading artificial intelligence and natural language processing experts, marine biologists, cryptographers, linguists, roboticists and underwater acousticians. CETI’s research is taking place off of the island of Dominica in the Caribbean.

In the late 1960s, scientists, including Dr. Roger Payne, a principal advisor of CETI, discovered that whales sing to one another. His recordings, Songs of the Humpback Whale, sparked the “Save the Whales” movement, one of the most successful conservation initiatives in history. The campaign eventually led to the Marine Mammal Protection Act that marked the end of large-scale whaling and saved several whale populations from extinction. 

All this by just hearing the sounds of whales. Imagine what would happen if we could understand them?

WHY WHALES 
Sperm whales specifically share traits strikingly similar to humans. They live in matriarchal and multicultural societies and share dialects and strong multigenerational family bonds. Sperm whales have the largest brains of any species and have higher-level functions such as conscious thought and future planning, as well as speech and feelings of compassion, love, suffering and intuition. Their vocalizations, among the loudest animal sounds on the planet, have a Morse code-like structure that shares the hallmarks of a highly-evolved language. Our understanding of these animals and their dialects is still in its infancy. Only in the last fifteen years have we begun to learn how some of their vocalizations are used for communication.  
WHAT CETI IS DOING
CETI is:
-Developing non-invasive robotics to listen to a population of whales in the Caribbean and put their sounds into context.
-Deploying a “Core Whale Listening System,” an innovative hydrophone array, underwater robotic gliders, custom bioinspired whale tags and other technology to gently study the whales.
-Building on substantial data on the whales’ sounds, social lives, and behavior already obtained by the Dominica Sperm Whale Project. 
-Creating a bespoke, big-data pipeline to examine the recorded data and decode it using advanced machine learning, natural language processing and data science.
-Publishing a series of academic papers beginning with the CETI roadmap.
-Collaborating with the National Geographic Society, including their Exploration Technology Lab, and amplifying the project across National Geographic’s storytelling and education channels.
-Implementing community-based programs like the Dominica Marine Conservation Fellowship, a community-based 10-month multi- module training program for young Dominicans interested in marine science, that was developed in partnership with National Geographic.
-Launching various communications projects to tell CETI’s story including a public interface for the citizen science community, resources for educators and children and arts programs.

IMPACT
Now, for the first time in history, it’s possible to use artificial intelligence to identify and interpret deep structure within animal communication. Using these technologies, CETI is building on the legacy of the “Save the Whales” movement with the goal of having an impact by contributing the following:
Interspecies Communication - A new data set of unprecedented size to the rapidly expanding field of interspecies communication and a roadmap of how humans could translate the communication of any other species
Marine Biology - A substantive contribution to the field of whale research within marine biology that opens gateways for future research initiatives. 
Policy - New information about whales that can bolster policy efforts to protect marine mammals and ocean habitats. Policy advances in this area are crucial as six out of the 13 “great” whale species (the largest whales) are still endangered (World Wildlife Federation). To ensure impact in this area, CETI plans to build out policy campaigns and initiatives. 
Perspective - It is widely endorsed that connectivity with nature can improve mental health. By sharing its journey and findings with the public, CETI hopes to contribute to a feeling of increased wonder and connectedness to whales and the ocean that can inspire action. CETI will build out arts and childrens’ initiatives in support of this impact goal.
Conservation - CETI’s first phase of research is taking place in Dominica in the Caribbean, a region that is one of the world’s greatest centers of diversity. By carrying out its research in partnership with local stakeholders, CETI hopes to contribute to regionally-led research and conservation efforts.

HOW CETI IS SUPPORTING DOMINICA
-CETI’s capacity-building initiative, Dominica Marine Conservation Fellowship is a 10-month, nine module training program for young Dominicans interested in marine science) in partnership with National Geographic.  The program has three 2022/2023 fellows and partnerships with the Dominica National Youth Council, Dominica State College and Dominica’s Ministry of Education. The program’s curriculum (co-created with National Geographic) includes modules on marine science, scientific research/techniques, water and vessel skills and storytelling and leadership among other topics.
-All research and findings by CETI in Dominica are all open-source and will be available for Dominica. The organization’s sailing research vessel (CETI-1), a Rigid Inflatable Boat (CETI-2) and Dominican made boat (CETI-3) are in operation in Dominican waters; these boats along with other CETI equipment will be donated to the local entity at the completion of the project.
-A temporary field station has been established in Dominica and has the capacity to host 10-12 researchers, fellows and students. In the long-term, CETI plans to build a permanent field station in Dominica 
-In 2023, CETI will continue local engagement and presentations with primary and secondary schools, development of video content for use in classrooms, collaborations with local artists and collaborations with local stakeholders such as marine and dive operators, civil society organizations and schools.

Using urban surplus as a solution to ignored issues of rural India

Goonj, founded in 1999 by Magsaysay award winner Mr. Anshu Gupta, works on poverty alleviation, rural development, and disaster relief & rehab, by using the cities’ discards as fuel for wide-spread development work across villages in India, creating a barter between two new currencies - the urban underutilized material, and, the efforts of rural communities who work on the neglected issues around water, sanitation, agriculture, education, local infrastructure, access, etc. Working with a strong network of 600+ grassroots partners, in the last 8 years (2014-2022), they have reached out to more than 12 million people, facilitated 55,000+ development activities, and channelized more than 45 million kgs of material across 31 states & UTs of India.

ICAF’s Arts Olympiad has evolved over the years into the world’s largest school art program. Its structured lesson plans culminate in art contests on the theme "My Favorite Sport." The U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee has granted ICAF an exclusive license to utilize the "Arts Olympiad" mark.

As empathy flourishes, divisions diminish, polarization lessens, consensus emerges, nations come together, and the world becomes more peaceful. The educational programming for this three-day public celebration of children's talents is rooted in STEAMS education, an innovative approach developed by ICAF that integrates Arts and Sports into the STEM disciplines. Ecogenia is a non-profit that was established in Greece in 2021. Its mission is to mobilize youth through civic service to create a resilient and sustainable Greece. Its vision is to become a national program, where every young person (18-30) has the opportunity to complete a paid service term of up to one year to lead local climate action projects and address community needs across the 13 regions of Greece. Ecogenia is inspired by the core values of action, collaboration, service, resilience, optimism, commitment, and equity.

Program Details
Ecogenia is heading to Mt. Olympus and invites you to help them reach the peak! In Spring 2024, the team will again be putting boots on the ground to lead their first disaster management pilot. This project will combine ecotourism program impact (trail maintenance and revitalization work) with disaster management (wildfire fuel reduction, fire breaks, community engagement). Litochoro will serve as the home base for the project and will include work in the foothills of Mt. Olympus National Park. This pilot project is part of a strategic partnership with the U.S. Embassy and in collaboration with the California Conservation Corps (CCC). The CCC plans to send a team of young people from their program to Greece to work alongside Ecogenia cohort members for a training exchange. The goal of the exchange is to incorporate best practices from the CCC on how to utilize a youth corps program to accelerate this critically important work and to understand how to best scale across the country.

FUNDIS is a nonprofit designed to document and protect fungi and their habitats across North America. Our goals are to help create a detailed inventory of fungal diversity across continental regions and ecosystems, identify key ecological interactions, contribute to the broader scientific knowledge of fungal ecosystems, and execute conservation strategies that actually include our beloved Fungal Kingdom.

Protecting the Amazon rainforest and our climate in solidarity with Indigenous peoples

Since 1996, Amazon Watch has defended the Amazon rainforest and our climate in solidarity with Indigenous peoples. Long-term, trusted partnerships with Indigenous peoples — the best stewards of the rainforest — are the foundation for Amazon Watch’s campaigns for climate justice, corporate accountability, and the permanent protection of the rainforest.

The Amazon is home to more than 511 distinct Indigenous peoples. As our planet’s largest tropical rainforest, it stabilizes our global climate and an immense amount of Earth’s biodiversity and flowing freshwater can be found there. This vital ecosystem and the Indigenous peoples who have stewarded it for centuries face grave threats from deforestation, resource extraction, land grabs, and destructive development projects. The Amazon is facing a tipping point and won't be able to sustain itself as a rainforest if we remain on our current path of destruction.

To move to a turning point, Amazon Watch is carrying out campaigns in partnership with Indigenous peoples to secure Indigenous rights to ancestral territories, halt oil drilling and mining in the biome, and mobilize solidarity funds directly to Amazonian peoples at their request. Their work combines on-the-ground legal, advocacy, and communications expertise and long-term trusted partnerships with Indigenous peoples and organizations.

🌳Amazon Watch’s Amazon Defenders Fund (ADF) provides direct solidarity funding to Amazonian peoples and organizations free of bureaucratic barriers. The ADF supports Indigenous-led initiatives including community organizing, women’s leadership, communal economies, protection of Earth Defenders at risk for resisting destructive development, and crisis response including to wildfires and oil spills. History of DPNA



The Development for People and Nature Association (DPNA) was founded in 2003 by a passionate group of activists who saw the pressing need for a structured approach to sustainable development in Lebanon. Initially starting with a small, dedicated team, DPNA set out to tackle the challenges faced by marginalized communities, particularly those in rural and underdeveloped areas. From these modest beginnings, DPNA has grown into a prominent non-governmental organization (NGO) with a significant impact on both social and environmental issues locally and regionally.



DPNA's founders were motivated by a vision of creating lasting positive change through collaborative efforts and sustainable practices. Over the years, the organization has expanded its scope and influence, becoming known for its innovative approaches and impactful projects aimed at improving the quality of life for Lebanon's most vulnerable populations. The organization's growth reflects its commitment to addressing both immediate needs and long-term challenges, leveraging a combination of grassroots engagement and strategic partnerships.

DPNA envisions a democratic society built on the principles of non-violence, respect for human rights, and the full enjoyment of freedoms for all citizens. The organization aims to foster a culture of dialogue and peaceful conflict resolution, encouraging communities to work together to overcome obstacles and build a more just and equitable society. This vision is rooted in the belief that lasting peace and development can only be achieved through mutual understanding, collaboration, and respect for diversity.

Objectives



DPNA has outlined several key objectives to guide its efforts towards a more just, peaceful, and sustainable society:



Promoting Civic Education and Participation: DPNA organizes a range of activities including workshops, seminars, and community events to enhance citizens' understanding of their rights and responsibilities. The organization places a special emphasis on engaging youth, with the goal of cultivating a generation of informed and active participants in the democratic process.



Spreading a Culture of Peace and Understanding: DPNA believes that peace is not just the absence of conflict but the presence of justice and mutual understanding. The organization runs programs that promote peace, reconciliation, and constructive dialogue within Lebanon and beyond, working to bridge divides and foster a culture of cooperation and respect.



Protecting Natural and Environmental Resources: DPNA is committed to environmental sustainability and advocates for stronger environmental policies. The organization works to educate communities about sustainable practices and partners with local and international bodies to implement conservation projects aimed at preserving natural resources.



Creating Positive Change in Local and National Policies: DPNA actively engages in advocacy to influence policy at both local and national levels. Past Activities



Over its two decades of operation, DPNA has implemented numerous impactful projects across Lebanon:



Civic Engagement Programs: DPNA has led extensive initiatives to enhance civic engagement, including voter education campaigns, democratic participation workshops, and youth leadership training. These efforts have significantly increased civic awareness and participation across various communities.



Peacebuilding Initiatives: The organization has played a key role in peacebuilding efforts by facilitating dialogue between communities, supporting conflict resolution processes, and promoting a culture of peace through education and outreach activities.



Environmental Conservation Projects: DPNA has undertaken various environmental conservation projects, focusing on protecting water resources, promoting sustainable agricultural practices, and raising environmental awareness. These initiatives have involved active community participation to ensure long-term sustainability.



Human Rights Advocacy: DPNA has been a strong advocate for human rights, addressing issues such as gender equality, refugee rights, and the protection of minority communities. Through its advocacy work, the organization has influenced important policy changes and raised awareness about critical human rights issues.



Economic Empowerment Programs: The organization has implemented programs aimed at improving economic opportunities for marginalized communities, including vocational training, support for small businesses, and microfinance initiatives. These programs have helped to alleviate poverty and promote economic stability.

Leadership Training Programs: The organization is currently conducting leadership training for municipal officials and other key stakeholders, focusing on enhancing governance at the local level. Future Planned Activities



Looking ahead, DPNA has ambitious plans for several key initiatives:



Policy Change Initiatives: DPNA aims to achieve measurable changes in local and national policies affecting the environment, youth, children, and women within the next three years. This will involve engaging policymakers, conducting research, and running advocacy campaigns to drive meaningful policy reforms.



Expansion of Leadership Training Programs: The organization plans to broaden its leadership training programs to include a wider range of stakeholders, particularly youth. The goal is to enhance decision-making processes and improve leadership skills, with tangible outcomes expected by the end of the three-year period.



Support for Entrepreneurial Initiatives: DPNA will continue to support entrepreneurial initiatives and economic opportunities for youth and women in rural areas. New programs will be launched to provide training, resources, and support to aspiring entrepreneurs, focusing on sustainable economic development.



Expansion of Civic Education Programs: The organization plans to extend its civic education initiatives to reach a broader audience, especially in marginalized and rural communities. Projects will be developed to promote civic engagement and participation on national, regional, and international levels.



Promotion of Peace and Understanding: DPNA will continue to promote peace and understanding by developing programs that foster dialogue, trust, and mutual respect. The organization will work to spread a culture of peace, solidarity, and human rights both locally and regionally.



Environmental Conservation Initiatives: New environmental conservation initiatives will be introduced to protect natural resources. These efforts will involve collaboration with local communities, government bodies, and international organizations to promote sustainable practices and environmental stewardship.



Humanitarian Aid and Emergency Response: DPNA is dedicated to providing humanitarian aid in times of crisis affecting Lebanon and the region. Plans include expanding the organization’s emergency response capacity to ensure timely and effective support during disasters or conflicts.

Krista's Legacy Foundation (KLF) extends Krista Roth’s impact by advancing the causes about which she was most passionate.

Krista's Legacy Foundation (KLF) extends the late Krista Roth’s impact (4/22/99 - 1/20/21) by advancing the causes about which she was most passionate - Rainforest Restoration, Clean Water and Education. As the result of a childhood dream, Krista's Rainforest Sanctuary project started in the Monteverde Cloud Forest of Costa Rica with funds raised on what would have been Krista's 22nd birthday on Earth Day (April 22) 2021. In honor of her desire to help solve the world's water crisis, KLF works in partnership with Can Do Kids International in Kenya. KLF also sponsors projects supporting the education of underprivileged kids with potential to make the world a better place.
