Homa U Migdal builds complete, self-sustaining villages for Jewish communities living far from the modern grid — and creates a place of healing for people rebuilding their lives after trauma.
Instead of asking isolated communities to leave everything behind, we bring them the technology that lets them thrive where they already are. Each village is designed around four systems that work together: off-grid solar power, water generation, aquaponic fish-and-vegetable farming, and regenerative permaculture. Together they produce electricity, clean drinking water, protein, and produce — with no grid connection, no well, and no imported fertilizer.
Our name comes from the original Homa U'Migdal ("Wall and Tower") movement, which in 1936 raised entire working settlements in a single day. Our model village is being built at Sde Trumot in the Beit She'an Valley, on the ground where that movement began. We call it Homa U'Migdal 2.0 — the global self-sustainable kibbutz movement.
The village is also a healing center. Alongside the farm and energy systems, we host survivors of trauma and PTSD in a residential program that pairs agricultural work and community living with alternative therapeutic methods. The land does part of the work a clinic cannot.
iTribe, our digital arm, connects these communities to one another — a network where a village in Africa, India, or South America can share what it has learned about growing food in its own soil with a village half a world away.
Your gift funds the physical build — solar arrays, water systems, greenhouses and aquaponics infrastructure — and the training that lets each community run and repair its own systems long after we leave.
