Building Aloha is a California-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to perpetuating and promoting the lived culture of Aloha through culturally grounded programs that strengthen education, leadership, wellness, and community resilience.

Rooted in the values of kuleana (responsibility), lōkahi (unity), and mālama (care), Building Aloha serves Pacific Islander, Indigenous, and underserved communities while creating inclusive opportunities for anyone committed to community, cultural respect, and mutual care.

Our work is grounded in lived experience and strengthened by relationships across the Pacific. Our team includes people with deep ties to Hawaiʻi and communities throughout the Pacific, giving us a meaningful understanding of the cultural connections, responsibilities, and realities shaping the communities we serve.

Our Impact

Building Aloha translates community relationships into measurable action:

  • 700 families impacted through Maui wildfire relief efforts.
  • 300 families directly supported through a Maui community distribution effort grounded in hoʻoponopono principles and cultural protocol.
  • 400+ pounds of food collected through food sovereignty and community food drives.
  • 45 families supported through community food assistance partnerships.
  • $10,000 raised for families affected by the Kona Low storms on Oʻahu.
  • 200 keiki supported through a community outreach initiative on the San Carlos Apache Reservation.
  • $10,000 donated to support Keiki O Ka ʻĀina following the Kona Low storms.
  • 3,500 community members reached through a single All Islands United community event in Southern California.
  • Educational technology provided to youth participating in the Mana Youth Summit.

Our programs include cultural education, youth development, scholarships, financial literacy, wellness and re-entry support, veteran support, food sovereignty, disaster relief, and community resource initiatives.

We believe effective nonprofit work requires more than good intentions. It requires relationships, accountability, cultural competency, measurable outcomes, and responsible stewardship of every dollar entrusted to us.

Why Your Support Matters

A donor to Building Aloha is investing in more than a single program or event. Your support helps strengthen the systems, relationships, and community capacity required for people to thrive.

Corporate and individual contributions help us:

  • Deliver culturally responsive resources during disasters and community emergencies.
  • Expand educational and scholarship opportunities.
  • Create safe, inclusive spaces for cultural connection and wellness.
  • Support youth, families, veterans, and individuals navigating re-entry or significant life transitions.
  • Advance food sovereignty and basic-needs initiatives.
  • Preserve and share cultural knowledge across generations.
  • Build partnerships that connect communities, organizations, businesses, and resources.

As a California-based nonprofit with strong Pacific connections, Building Aloha also serves as a bridge between communities. We bring together people and organizations around shared values while respecting the distinct cultures, histories, and protocols of the communities involved.

Our Commitment

We practice Aloha as a responsibility—not simply a greeting or sentiment.

For Building Aloha, Aloha means showing up, taking responsibility, caring for one another, strengthening relationships, and creating conditions in which communities can move forward together.

We are building an organization designed for long-term community impact, with an emphasis on responsible governance, measurable programming, strategic partnerships, and sustainable growth.

Your contribution helps turn community need into organized action.

Together, we build stronger communities, preserve culture, expand opportunity, and create spaces where people can connect, heal, learn, and thrive.

Building Aloha — Donor Giving & Fund Use

Building Aloha is a California-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit public charity. EIN: 92-2103211. Contributions are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.

Your Gift. Our Responsibility.

We believe every contribution represents a relationship of trust. Building Aloha is committed to using charitable funds responsibly, transparently, and in alignment with our mission to strengthen education, leadership, wellness, cultural connection, and community resilience.

Donations help support culturally grounded programs and community initiatives including cultural education, youth programs, scholarships, wellness and re-entry support, food sovereignty, disaster relief, community resource distribution, and leadership development.

How Donations Are Used

General donations provide flexible support for Building Aloha's charitable mission and may be used for programs, direct community assistance, supplies, outreach, transportation, technology, administration, fundraising, and other reasonable costs necessary to operate our charitable programs.

Campaign-specific donations are used for the charitable purpose identified in the campaign.

When a campaign specifically states that 100% of donations go directly to the stated cause, Building Aloha will direct the funds raised to that charitable purpose, with applicable processing or platform costs disclosed or covered separately when applicable.

If a campaign raises more than is reasonably required, or circumstances change, remaining funds may be directed toward a substantially similar charitable purpose or another Building Aloha initiative addressing the same community need, consistent with applicable law and donor restrictions.

Our Accountability

Building Aloha maintains financial records and internal controls to responsibly track charitable contributions and expenditures. We document expenses, monitor designated funds, reconcile financial accounts, and complete required nonprofit reporting.

We measure our impact through people served, resources distributed, funds raised and deployed, educational opportunities created, partnerships established, and community outcomes.

We believe transparency should be accessible. Donors who wish to learn more about charitable organizations, charitable fundraising, tax-deductible contributions, and the legal requirements governing nonprofit funds may consult:
