We Raise Hope

We Raise Hope is a U.S.-based nonprofit working in one of the most overlooked regions of the world — the rural mountain valleys of Nepal. Our mission is simple but urgent: to give children and families the same dignity, opportunity, and access to care that any human deserves, no matter where they are born.

Our work began in Bodgaun, a village where children walked long distances for school, families lived without reliable healthcare, and many had never touched a computer. Over time, we discovered something powerful: even in the most remote communities, hope grows fast when you plant the right seed. So we built programs that meet real needs — not from theory, but from years of listening to families, teachers, mothers, and community leaders.

Today, We Raise Hope supports rural Nepal through five core pillars, each addressing a critical gap in quality of life:

1. Healthcare: Building the First Surgical Room in Bodgaun

Bodgaun Rural Hospital was built to serve thousands of families across the Indrawati valley, but it still lacks one essential facility every hospital in the U.S. takes for granted — a surgical room.
Without it, even the simplest procedures (wound stitching, infection removal, safe childbirth, emergency response) require families to walk hours or travel by risky roads to distant towns.

Our goal is to complete the first-ever surgical room in the valley, giving the community access to basic life-saving care right where they live.

This single room will reduce preventable deaths, protect mothers during childbirth, save trauma patients, and eliminate long, dangerous journeys for essential treatment.

2. Education: Free IT Schools for 350+ Rural Students

We believe education is the most powerful equalizer — and digital education is the bridge to future opportunity. That’s why we operate 3 Free IT Schools in rural Nepal, serving more than 350 students every year.
In communities where computers were once unheard of, children now learn:

• Basic digital literacy
• MS Office and productivity tools
• Internet research and communication
• Creative skills like design and media
• Foundational programming (in some centers)

For these students, technology is not entertainment — it is a doorway to careers, confidence, and a world far bigger than their village.

These labs operate completely free of cost, giving rural children the same digital foundation their global peers receive.

3. Nutrition: Daily Meals for 80+ Kindergarten Children

Hunger and education are deeply connected. Children cannot learn on an empty stomach.
In our kindergarten program, more than 80 young children receive daily nutritious meals — often the most reliable meal they get in a day.

This program has transformed attendance, energy levels, classroom participation, and long-term health outcomes. Parents describe it as “hope for the next generation.”

Our meal program ensures children stay in school and thrive physically and mentally.

4. Clean Water & Community Well-being

We support communities with access to clean drinking water, sanitation improvements, and hygiene awareness. In villages where families once walked long distances for water, we help build systems that bring clean water closer to homes, improving safety and reducing disease.

Access to safe water is a basic human right — and a foundation for dignity.

5. Livelihood Programs: Fish Farming, Agriculture & Skills Development

We Raise Hope strengthens families through sustainable livelihood programs:

• Fish farming initiatives that bring stable income
• Community agriculture and nutrition gardens
• Skill-building workshops for women and youth
• Small-scale support projects for families in crisis

These programs help families earn a consistent income, keep children in school, and prevent migration caused by poverty.
