In too many places around the world, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer (LGBTIQ+) people are among the most marginalized groups in society, often facing discrimination, harassment, violence and murder – simply because of who they are or whom they love. UN Free & Equal is an unprecedented global campaign for equal rights and fair treatment for LGBTIQ+ people, led by the UN Human Rights Office. We challenge negative stereotypes, support activists worldwide, and ultimately win over new allies and inspire them to stand up for LGBTIQ+ equality. Thanks to your generosity, the UN Free & Equal campaign can: Work with partners in countries around the world to support changes to discriminatory laws and advance legal protections for LGBTIQ+ people. Advocate for the human rights of LGBTIQ+ people, dispel negative stereotypes and convince people on the fence to become active allies of the LGBTIQ+ community. Support local LGBTIQ+ communities and their efforts to create a fairer, more equal society for everyone. Work with the private sector to promote a culture of respect and equality both in the workplace and in the communities where they and their partners operate.
