Artists' Television Access is an all-volunteer, artist-run, underground and experimental media arts gallery founded in 1984.

Artists’ Television Access is a San Francisco-based, artist-run, non-profit organization that cultivates and promotes culturally-aware, underground media and experimental art. We provide an accessible screening venue and gallery for the presentation of programmed and guest-curated screenings, exhibitions, performances, workshops and events. We believe in fostering a supportive community for the exhibition of innovative art and the exchange of non-conformist ideas.

Story House Ithaca brings people together to share, study, create, and enjoy stories in all their forms.

Story House Ithaca brings people together around stories. We define “story” very broadly, to include fiction and nonfiction, poetry and song, documentary, journalism, photography, audio, film, theater, puppetry, visual and performance art, graphics, dance, and every other way of communicating ideas and experience. Our definition of “house” is also broad. We hope eventually to settle into our own space, but for now we’re excited to be popping up around the community.

**The Problem**

Our society is going through a period of fracturing, as people of different socioeconomic, cultural, and educational backgrounds divide into ever more insular groups. One reason for this is a lack of opportunities for people to interact in meaningful and non-threatening ways. This has had disastrous consequences in politics, public health, and many other areas.
  
 **Our Approach**

- Story House creates. We dream up, organize, and present workshops, discussions, readings, talks, screenings, exhibitions, performances, participatory projects, and other activities. 
- Story House collaborates. We work with organizations, artists, activists, scholars, and others to plan and present compelling programming. 
- Story House connects. We help creative people and groups find new partners and reach new audiences. 
- Story House empowers. We help members of our community acquire the skills they need to tell the stories they want to tell.

In all our programs and activities, we are committed to creating inclusive spaces that welcome diversity. We strive to foster interactions between people of different cultures, ethnicities, and socioeconomic backgrounds, with the goal of working toward shared understanding and a more equitable, anti-racist society.
 
**Our Team**

Lesley Greene (co-director) is a producer, designer, writer, and director. She worked for many years at the Kitchen Theatre Company, where she curated and produced three performance series, created sound and projection designs, and served as chief grant writer and head of marketing. She is a co-founder and co-organizer of Porchfest, a festival that began in Ithaca in 2007 and now takes place in more than 150 cities across North America.
  
Jonathan Miller (co-director) is a writer, journalist, editor, radio producer, podcaster, and media project leader whose work has taken him to more than 20 countries. Since 2006, he has been executive director of Homelands Productions, an award-winning journalism collective that specializes in public radio features and documentaries. Jon serves on the board of Ithaca City of Asylum and coordinates the ONWARDS project, which seeks to help displaced writers, artists, human rights defenders, and scholars find stability in the USA.

Women of Color Unite (WOCU) is a social action non-profit organization focusing on fair access, fair treatment and fair pay for women of color in all aspects of the entertainment and media industries.  This organization works towards these goals by creating self-sustaining long-term programs for:  Facilitating fair hiring practices; Fostering a more inclusive and diverse workplace environment; Promoting access for excluded content creators; Expanding audiences represented by those excluded content creators; Raise funds for WOCU to produce their own content; Hold events, seminars, workshops, panels and summits to get more women of color hired, fund their projects and distribute their content; Work with additional organizations to develop analytics of under-represented marginalized groups to better identify their needs; and, Help companies incubate talent and integrate them into their work force.

For over a decade, Your Move with Andy Stanley--a TV program containing practical, Christ-centered content--aired on NBC after Saturday Night Live and CBS after The Late Late Show and currently airs, on TBN and UPtv, in television markets nationwide.  In 2022, over 80 million messages were accessed via our broadcast purchases.  Another 10 million messages were accessed through other online digital placements.  But viewership has never been our end goal.

**We are here to change the world.**

No matter who you are or where you live, harmful and limiting gender stereotypes hurt all of us, women, men, and people of all genders. Through film, education, and activism, The Representation Project exposes the cost of these stereotypes and invites everyone to build a more equitable future rooted in healthy identities, shared responsibility, and collective liberation.

Founded in 2011 by filmmaker and activist Jennifer Siebel Newsom, The Representation Project uses storytelling to shift culture and spark change. Her groundbreaking film *Miss Representation* ignited a national conversation about sexism and the underrepresentation of women and girls in media. Her second documentary, *The Mask You Live In*, brought urgently needed attention to the crisis of unhealthy masculinity, revealing how rigid expectations placed on boys and men fuel emotional suppression, violence, substance abuse, and isolation, while also harming women and communities. The film calls men and boys into healthy masculinity and active allyship, showing that gender equity benefits everyone.

Jennifer’s later films, *The Great American Lie* (2019) and *Fair Play* (2022), further examine inequality in the American Dream and the division of care and domestic labor, reinforcing the interconnected nature of gender justice, economic fairness, and well-being.

Together, these films challenging harmful gender narratives have been viewed nearly 30 million times, and our educational curricula have reached over 2 million students. Our work affirms what Siebel Newsom has long known: storytelling opens hearts and minds like nothing else, shifting attitudes and behaviors. This is culture transformation at its most powerful — creating a world where people of all genders can show up fully and thrive.

Why It’s Urgent

Gender stereotypes are a public health crisis. Two-thirds of young women experience disordered eating, and one in three girls has seriously considered suicide. At the same time, boys and young men who internalize rigid ideas about masculinity are significantly more likely to experience depression, suicidal ideation, substance abuse, and to perpetrate violence or harassment.

These outcomes are not inevitable; they are learned. By challenging harmful messages and promoting **healthy masculinities, emotional literacy, and allyship**, we can change the trajectory for young people and communities.

How We Do It

- We raise awareness through films viewed over 30 million times worldwide.
- We educate students through curricula that have reached more than 2.4 million young people.
- We amplify impact through national hashtag campaigns (including #AskHerMore, #NotBuyingIt, #EndRape, #RespectHerGame, and #BoysWillBeBoys) that reach over 600 million people.

Together, we are bending the long arc of history toward intersectional gender justice, engaging women, men, and gender-diverse people as partners in change. This is a person-by-person and community-powered movement.

[Fuente Latina](https://fuentelatina.org/en/) (FL), a Latina-led US nonprofit and non partisan media organization,  empowers thousands of global Hispanic journalists and influencers to ensure accurate news coverage of Israel, the Jewish world, and the Middle East that reaches millions of consumers worldwide.

FL provides access, production support, and data that Hispanic journalists need to cover timely news stories that matter to diverse Latino audiences across the US, Latin America, and Spain. 

Our work counters disinformation fueling hate and antisemitism while building bridges via the media between millions of Latinos and Jews.

Project Recover is a nonprofit organization focused on locating, recovering, and repatriating missing-in-action service members. 

For over 30 years, Project Recover has been the nation’s leading citizen-led, non-profit organization to search, locate, document, recover, and repatriate the over 81,500 American service members missing in action and to bring recognition and closure to the estimated 5,000,000 MIA Gold Star family members. Project Recover is the only non-governmental organization (NGO) with full vertical capabilities in the POW/MIA recovery space, which includes operational missions in both underwater and land environments. 

In 2012, Project Recover partnered with the Scripps Institution of Oceanography and the University of Delaware’s School of Earth, Ocean, and Environment. These collaborations, along with Project Recover’s partnership with the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) and Legion Underseas Services, have enabled Project Recover to document dozens of war sites associated with hundreds of MIAs.

Project Recover has completed over 100 missions in 24 countries, discovered and documented more than 75 aircraft associated with MIAs, developed a growing database of more than 700 cases associated with more than 3,000 MIAs, accounted for over 80 missing-in-action service members, repatriated 17 American heroes, and anticipate the identification of 26 MIAs by the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) by the end of 2025.

Creative Futures Collective

A unique, cutting-edge, and ecologically sensitive multi-media art space and cultural ecosystem in Uganda.

Since its inception in 2006, Bayimba has been working towards the sustainability of its programming that has shaped Uganda’s cultural landscape and influenced a vibrant creative industry within the East African region. Championing platforms like the Bayimba International Festival, the Kampala International Theatre Festival, Amakula International Film Festival and DOADOA: a regional network of professional stakeholders. Over the years, more than 5,000 artists have shared stage at the Bayimba events, and more than 15,000 industry professionals have been skilled for the market through the Bayimba Academy.

Through its hard work, careful saving and individual givers – the organisation managed to acquire Lunkulu Island - a leafy 92-acre semi-attached island in the midst of a lush environment at the shores of Lake Victoria in Mukono and Buikwe districts, with an idea of developing it to become a cutting-edge multi-media arts centre that uniquely serves the creative community from across the globe. 

From 2018, Lunkulu Island purposely accommodates Bayimba’s growing annual festivals and events, contributing to the long-term sustainability of Uganda’s creative arts. The development of physical structures is deemed necessary to further provide artists with a holistic safe-space that will enhance innovation, collaboration and creative development in East Africa. With a combined community of all mediums of art, professionally presented in one space where visitors can get a comprehensive artistic experience, creating jobs for the youth, preserving the local culture to a year-round tourism eco-system – the Bayimba Centre will be a hotspot for entrepreneurs where art, culture, and sustainability intersect—a place where creativity knows no bounds.

At ReFOCUS Media Labs, our mission is to empower asylum seekers and refugees by equipping them with modern media skills to overcome the challenges they face, such as limited access to education, language barriers, financial constraints, mental health support, skills training and job placement.

Through our three Media Labs (Lesvos, Athens, Krakow) workshops and original content productions on location (Amsterdam, Berlin, Athens, Krakow) we provide comprehensive education in photography, filmmaking, audio engineering, and graphic design. Moreover, we actively collaborate with our students in the production of impactful dramatic films and documentaries.

Established in 2017 in Lesvos, Greece as a pilot project when we supported the residents of the infamous Moria refugee camp. in 2019 we officially registered ReFOCUS Media Labs as a foundation in Poland, and started formalizing our work. In 2022 we expanded our efforts by adding new media labs in Athens (GR) and Krakow (PL).  Athens was established to support refugees who struggled to secure access to education and job placement in the Greek system, and Krakow was created to support the massive influx of Ukrainian refugees who fled to Poland after the full-scale Russian invasion. Our work throughout our global network of media creation labs demonstrates our commitment to empowering our community members, and ensuring they have a seat at the table in determining our present and future direction. 

Our mission is to transform lives through education, career training, and psychosocial support, and ultimately sustainable employment. 

In Greece, we primarily work with minors and young adults, who are either stuck in the asylum system or struggling to integrate after receiving minimal asylum protection.  In Poland, our focus groups are women and young adults who fled the war, and now put down roots in Poland.  A key highlight of our training is the creation of professional portfolios, an essential tool that enables our beneficiaries to effectively showcase themselves to potential employers. This part of our program is particularly important as many refugees arriving in Europe have faced educational disparities due to conflict, poverty or discrimination in their home countries. Even those who have a university degree often struggle to be recognized in Europe as education systems in their home countries often fail to meet EU standards. As a result, many higher education graduates are forced to adapt and accept employment well below their skill and education level. In most cases this leads to exploitation on the European labor market.

Our programming aims to break the cycle of disadvantage that refugees and asylum seekers encounter in the labor market. By providing a platform for our students to showcase their original work, share their stories, and employ them as teachers, lab coordinators and co-creators we empower them to become skilled professionals within the global media industry. But our work goes beyond the technical training by providing foundational support and safe spaces for people with refugee backgrounds to be accepted and flourish. Put simply, we treat the whole human being. 

Since our establishment in 2017, we have successfully certified hundreds of media students, produced feature films and music videos; internationally published original photography and graphic design, and collaborated with mainstream media partners on investigative reportage.

We've been featured in National Geographic, collaborated on investigative reports with Forensic Architecture, Human Rights Watch, BBC Newsnight, Aljazeera, the Guardian, and BBC Panorama, and also produce our own original podcast "Fractured", which focuses upon refugee issues and human rights violations in Europe and around the world.

What sets ReFOCUS apart is our dedication to mentoring students beyond the traditional classroom setting. We actively collaborate with our students to create compelling films and documentaries based on their own scripts and concepts. Since 2019 ReFOCUS has produced several films directed, filmed and edited by our students and alumni including  “Even After Death”, “Nothing About Us Without Us”, “Dancing Bells”, “Dead End”, Interview" and "Erantzun", all of which were written and directed by community members. 

“Stitches” - our latest film is currently in post production and will premiere in March 2024 at Movies that Matter Film Festival. Our films and work has been internationally recognised and showcased at prestigious film festivals worldwide, including the Human Rights Film Festival Berlin (DE), Movies that Matter Film Festival (Hague, NL), CPH:DOX (Copenhagen, DK), Melbourne International Film Festival (AU), Rotterdam International Film Festival (NL), IDFA (Amsterdam, NL), New Delhi International Film Festival (India), the World International Film Festival (Amsterdam, NL), and the (in)Justice Film Festival (Chicago, US) and many more. 

In recent years we have expanded to reach larger audiences and provide even more community members with employment and pathways to develop their own careers as freelance media creators. We also take a local approach to ensure the settled communities we work with have foundational support. A great example of this local approach is our Art Under Pressure Arts Festival, which was inaugurated in Athens, Greece (May 2023). The festival provided a platform for artists from Athens, both from within our community and the greater cultural community, to showcase their music, art, performance, design, photography, films and critical reportage on issues the community faces. In 2024 the festival will travel throughout Europe and North America in an effort to activate new local communities of artist who can learn from one another and create together. 

At the heart of our organization is a fundamental belief that individuals can make a difference in the issues they see in the world. Our extensive experience in the field working on the front line of the "refugee crisis" in Europe proves that civil actions can have a massive impact in the lives of people at risk, especially when media and governments claim otherwise. These challenges are not intractable, rather they are opportunities for us to think creatively, and work collectively to ensure we build the societies we know are possible. 

And so we remain committed to helping people with real lives in crisis develop the real skills needed to pursue the real futures they envision. No matter how many times the fast news frames people in need as "takers" and "burdens", we are proving every day that it is possible to cultivate givers who enhance and power our society into the future.

Reach A Hand Uganda (RAHU) is a youth-centered nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering young people with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities they need to make informed life choices. Founded in 2011, RAHU focuses primarily on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), ensuring that young people across Uganda have access to accurate information and quality services.

We operate in more than 53 districts across Uganda, engaging youth ages 10–19 and 20–30 who face SRHR challenges. We partner with young people living with HIV, refugees, youth who are in - and out-of-school, and those living with disabilities. We also work closely with men as users, advocates, and satisfied users of family planning. We recognize their critical influence on reproductive health decisions within families and communities.

A cornerstone of our impact is our national network of **836+ trained peer educators**, who lead community mobilization and SRHR information sharing and significantly increase service uptake. Their efforts are supported by interpersonal communication agents who promote male involvement in family planning, including informed uptake of vasectomy.

Our digital communications hub, **SautiPlus**, amplifies RAHU’s work by creating and disseminating youth-friendly SRHR content to millions of young people and the adults who influence them—parents, teachers, cultural leaders, policymakers, and more.

Our ambitious growth strategy includes future collaborations and distribution through major platforms such as PBS, Netflix, or Amazon Prime, especially for our documentary-focused project, Curiosity Entangled.

**The Need for Support**

Tokyo University of the Arts, a national comprehensive art university,  was established in 1949 through the merger of two institutions, Tokyo Fine Arts School and Tokyo Music School, both founded in 1887. At its inception, the university consisted of ten departments across two faculties: the Faculty of Fine Arts (comprising the Departments of Painting, Sculpture, Crafts, Architecture, and Aesthetics and Art History) and the Faculty of Music (comprising the Departments of Composition, Vocal Music, Instrumental Music, Conducting, and Musicology). It also included the University Library.



Over the years, the faculties have expanded and undergone reorganization, leading to the current structure of 14 departments across two faculties. The Faculty of Fine Arts now includes the Departments of Painting, Sculpture, Crafts, Design, Architecture, Inter-Media Art, and Aesthetics and Art History, while the Faculty of Music comprises the Departments of Composition, Vocal Music, Instrumental Music, Conducting, Traditional Japanese Music, Musicology, and Musical Creativity and the Environment. Additionally, the university features facilities such as the University Library, the University Art Museum, and the Performing Arts Center.



In 1963, a graduate school was established, which has since expanded to offer master's and doctoral programmes across four graduate schools: the Graduate School of Fine Arts, the Graduate School of Music, the Graduate School of Film and New Media, and the Graduate School of Global Arts.



In recent years, the university has been involved with art projects and other initiatives to address social issues through the power of the arts. 



Tokyo University of the Arts is located across four campuses: the Ueno Campus (its main headquarters) in Taito-ku, Tokyo; the Toride Campus in Ibaraki Prefecture; the Yokohama Campus in Kanagawa Prefecture; and the Senju Campus in Adachi-ku, Tokyo.



Tokyo University of the Arts has produced many exceptional artists, educators, and researchers in the field of the arts, spanning secondary to higher education. The university preserves the traditions and cultural heritage of Japan while embracing and integrating artistic ideas and techniques from around the world. 

Building on this rich history, the mission of Tokyo University of the Arts is to uphold the spirit of freedom and creativity that has defined it since its founding, to play a leading role in advancing art and culture in Japan and globally, and to collaborate with the wider society in creating diverse artistic values.



To achieve this mission, we have outlined the following goals:



• Provide art education at the highest global standards, fostering superior expertise and a strong sense of integrity among artists, educators, researchers, and all art practitioners.

• Promote the preservation of traditional culture and the creation of new artistic expressions, while collaborating with other academic disciplines and art education and research institutions both in Japan and internationally.

• Engage in activities that emphasize the importance of art in building a spiritually rich and dynamic society, create opportunities for people to engage with art, and contribute to society through artistic endeavors.
