Street Medicine Project: Bringing Healthcare to the Streets Our Street Medicine Project is a lifeline for the most vulnerable members of our community—street-connected children and elderly individuals. Through this outreach-based initiative, we not only offer medical care but also provide essential services such as food, clothing, bathing, and shaving. These basic needs are often the first step in restoring dignity and hope to individuals who are overlooked by the broader healthcare system. In partnership with Bisou Bailey Medical Dispensary , we offer a comprehensive range of healthcare services, including health education, vaccinations, dental care, minor surgeries, and treatment for neglected tropical diseases. Since 2015, we have served over 25,000 people , improving health outcomes and bringing life-saving care to those who would otherwise be left behind. 2. Mwanza Community Emergency Response Project: Saving Lives, One Call at a Time Emergencies can strike at any moment, and the Mwanza Community Emergency Response Project is designed to ensure that help arrives fast. Through our Layperson First Responder Model , we train motor-taxi drivers and community members to respond quickly to medical emergencies and trauma situations. With a toll-free emergency hotline (0800 750 112) and real-time dispatch technology, we can deliver care within minutes, saving lives and reducing the time it takes to reach those in critical need. In 2024 alone, we responded to 1,034 emergencies , saving 1,164 lives . Many of these emergencies involve obstetric complications where timely intervention is critical. Your support will allow us to expand this vital service, ensuring that more individuals, particularly pregnant women, receive immediate care in life-threatening situations. 3. Bisou Bailey Medical Dispensary: Affordable, Accessible Healthcare for All The Bisou Bailey Medical Dispensary , launched in 2021, is central to addressing the severe shortage of healthcare facilities in rural and underserved areas of Mwanza. This social enterprise offers comprehensive services such as ultrasound, laboratory tests, pharmacy, maternity care, and dental services. With over 500 patients served each month, the dispensary is transforming healthcare access for disadvantaged communities. For pregnant women , our maternity care services are critical. In a region where obstetric emergencies are common, access to timely, affordable healthcare can mean the difference between life and death. By expanding our infrastructure and services, we aim to provide a broader range of emergency obstetric care, improving maternal health outcomes for thousands of women. Our 7-Year Vision: Expanding Access to Life-Saving Care for 500,000 People Our vision for the future is ambitious but achievable. Over the next seven years, we aim to: Train and retain 1,000 community first responders to ensure rapid medical and emergency support, particularly for pregnant women and those in obstetric distress. Reach 500,000 underserved individuals , including pregnant women, with life-saving healthcare interventions and emergency medical care. Expand our medical dispensary and infrastructure to provide 20% of TRHM’s operational costs through a sustainable model, ensuring continuous service delivery and growth.
