I am a Children's Librarian in  the US with no ties to Ukraine, but I value what SUCHO is trying to do and am praying for peace in your country every day. Thank you for preserving culture. 

Because Culture matters. It defines us as Human Beings. And it matters even more when it is systematically being destroyed.

When the lives and worlds we planned for fall apart, how do we keep moving with grace and curiosity? *Dancing in the Ashes* is ten’s biannual grassroots fundraising campaign, born from the literal fire that transformed [Liquid Cartographies](https://opencollective.com/redirect?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.emergencenetwork.org%2Fliquid-cartographies%2F) — our long-awaited seasonal festival in Red Hook, Brooklyn — into an emergent celebration of the magic in the minor and of the power of community solidarity and reciprocity.  Since our inception, The Emergence Network has been asking the question: are the ways we’re currently responding to the crises of our times part of those very crises? After a decade of inquiring, we can pretty assuredly say, “Yes. Many times we feed the overculture even in our attempts to fix intractable problems, catalyze social change, or attain some ultimate sense of peace or justice.” Our first in-person seasonal festival offered us a powerful opportunity to find out what’s on the other side of that question. We practiced living emergence in a situation that was devastatingly disappointing and simultaneously full of creative place-based experiments to support people to perceive commonly-held concepts differently. As we hospice one cycle of our work and compost what’s ready to decompose, we’re also nurturing the seeds of what wants to emerge next. 

This season, we invite you to support us in staying open to joy, experimentation, and renewal — learning to dance, together, in the ashes of what was and the questions of what might be.

Here at ten, we are deeply grateful to friends and strangers alike for sporulating with us by participating in our fundraising campaign. We are thrilled to share that we have raised $9,000 USD via the abundance and generosity of our unbelievable community! 

A tremendous thank you for journeying with us into the generative contagion of sporulation to imagine the new: the new that we do not yet know... landscapes we don't know how to articulate yet, fugitive futures that are not yet legible.

**Sporulation**: */spȯr-yə-ˈlā-shən/ the process by which an organism creates spores in response to harsh conditions. Spores are cells that can be found in bacteria, fungi, and plants. They have thick cell walls that help them survive in unfavorable conditions, and they preserve the organism's genetic material. Once conditions improve, spores can resume multiplying.*

Over the last couple of months, ten has slowly emerged from the underground. We opened the doors of our [new mbari](http://emergencenetwork.org)** (aka website), inviting you to animate it with song, prayer, dance, and ritual. Within the skin of this new body, we are sensing the call to practice as a commonwealth of bewilderment, to host impossible dreams, and attempt to dance into them. We wish to build up the sporulative cells in our walls to continue tying fungal knots and weaving fugitive carpets as networks of practice and co-inquiry that support experiments in making sanctuary together.

To breathe life into these impossible dreams, we are raising **$8,000 USD by June 28th** via the generosity and gifts of our unbelievable community. The funds we raise will help us co-create projects and gatherings, grow our core operations team, cover necessary operational costs, and support regional convenors in our growing trans-local fungal carpet [An Infection](https://www.emergencenetwork.org/how-to-get-involved-fugitive-assemblage/an-infection/). We have also started dreaming up a monstrous hybrid trans-local season festival for this October / November where we can explore experimental ways of gathering online to celebrate, grieve and become undone together.

In the face of the so-called anthropocene, let us do outrageous, celebratory and experimental things together. Let us co-generate abundance as a way of responding to the present meta-crisis of our times, preparing ourselves to mutate into unexpected new forms and cultivate capacities that allow us to respond to the sensuous solidarities we are beginning to become aware of. Let us also grieve and decompose and put to rest our tired notions about what it is to be “human”.

Sporulation: A ten Gifting experiment 

Saving Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Online  (SUCHO)  is a global grassroots initiative supporting the digital preservation of Ukrainian cultural heritage. So far we have saved more than 50TB of scanned documents, artworks and many other digital materials from 5,000+ websites of Ukrainian museums, libraries and archives. We are now coordinating aid shipments of digitization hardware, such as scanners, cameras and computers to Ukraine.

Your donation will help us continue to support our digital preservation efforts and to buy the equipment needed to preserve Ukraine's cultural memory.

Saving Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Online

This project is focused on peacebuilding by **sharing NVC and Sociocracy** and at the same time supporting CNVC certification candidates in gathering the experience in offering training, that is needed to get certified.
It is based on integrating both **Nonviolent Communication (NVC) and Sociocracy** in how we work together. NVC supports connection with self and others. Sociocracy supports team work in the spirit of **partnership and “power with”**. The two together strengthen **appetite for feedback and learning together** for the benefit of our project.

**Our vision:** NVC and Sociocracy becomes well known in Africa as a process towards **peace, conflict resolution** and **awareness of our interdependent nature.**

**Our mission:** Showcasing NVC and Sociocracy projects in Africa **to inspire each other, and attract funding for NVC and Sociocracy training** in the projects and also to offer training to people who are not yet working in an NVC and Sociocracy project.

**Our aim:** Supporting NVC certification candidates and certified trainers in Africa, in their NVC work by sharing their stories on this platform and attracting donations to **support their work in a way that nurtures their community**.
We support the NVC work by also offering training in teamwork mainly in the form of learning about Sociocracy and offering training in how to develop **a healthy organization where feedback culture is a natural part of the learning organization.We favor projects that focus on bringing NVC to schools** and other educational institutions, to homeless children and caregivers, to refugee camps and similar.
We support the members of the project in **learning the skills needed to apply for bigger grants** for their peacebuilding projects.

NVC and Sociocracy for Social Change

The Data Rescue Project is a coordinated effort among a group of data organizations, including [IASSIST](https://iassistdata.org/), [RDAP](https://rdapassociation.org/), and members of the [Data Curation Network](https://datacurationnetwork.org/). Our goal is to serve as a clearinghouse for data rescue-related efforts and data access points for public US governmental data that are currently at risk. We want to know what is happening in the community so that we can coordinate focus. Efforts include: data gathering, data curation and cleaning, data cataloging, and providing sustained access and distribution of data assets.

Open Collective Europe promotes charitable initiatives within the European Union, with a focus on Education, Social Impact and Civic participation, and provides such initiatives with a simple and transparent way to manage their finances. Open Collective Europe's mission is to promote projects in the EU with the following charitable purposes: - increasing access to educational resources and training,  - creating a positive social impact and  - developing tools to improve civic participation within cities or communities. Future perspectives At the beginning of 2022, we shared our desire to grow the Open Collective Europe community. Our goal is to make the community more vibrant, supported and resilient. We set out to build a more comprehensive fiscal hosting service and support system for our collectives.
