Our mission is to advance tools and technologies that rehabilitate coral reefs as whole ecosystems, using location-specific, ecologically-sound principles that support the way they naturally function and adapt.
Our approach is focused on whole ecosystem restoration, including organisms, relationships between organisms, and the environment. We develop novel technologies through laboratory and field trials, and apply these in combination with the best existing methods for a given reef area, based on local ecology and in collaboration with local communities.
Emergent Reefs is deeply committed to open source technology, knowledge sharing, and networking efforts around the world to achieve scale through collaboration.
