Problem Statement: Following the earthquake that struck Venezuela on June 24, more than 11,000 people were injured, and over 100 people lost limbs or suffered life-changing mobility impairments. Venezuela is facing serious economic and healthcare challenges, making it extremely difficult for injured individuals to access the medical treatment, rehabilitation services, prosthetic limbs, orthotic devices, or wheelchairs they urgently need. Many survivors now require long-term support to regain their independence and rebuild their lives, but the country's limited healthcare resources make recovery a significant challenge. Project Objective: We will initially partner with the Venezuelan Children's Orthopedic Hospital to establish a prosthetics production center, fitting and adjustment areas, mobility aid assessment services, and a rehabilitation space. We will then build partnerships with local and international organizations willing to support the initiative. We will acquire advanced prosthetics manufacturing technology in collaboration with the Ugani Foundation (Belgium), whose innovative solutions have previously helped hundreds of amputees in remote and underserved regions. We will procure all necessary prosthetic components, including knees, feet, hands, elbows, hips, structural parts, connectors, and raw materials. We will provide basic and specialized mobility devices according to each beneficiary’s needs, drawing from the 15 global brands we represent. We will create a network of volunteer medical specialists from Colombia to offer virtual support, knowledge transfer, and scientific guidance to hospitals performing amputations in Venezuela. Through our scientific team at the CIREC Foundation, we will provide teleconsultation, specialized case support, and telerehabilitation services for patients with complex rehabilitation needs.

Este fondo tiene como propósito apoyar a las personas con discapacidad afectadas por el terremoto ocurrido en Colombia el pasado 10 de agosto en horas de la mañana. Nuestra labor estará enfocada en contribuir a la reconstrucción de viviendas, suministrar insumos médicos, entregar dispositivos de movilidad, distribuir paquetes de primera necesidad y brindar servicios de rehabilitación física. CIREC es una organización científica y social con más de 50 años de experiencia en la atención integral de personas con discapacidad, así como en la gestión de emergencias y la atención en territorios a través de brigadas médicas especializadas. A lo largo de nuestra trayectoria, hemos trabajado en 23 de los 32 departamentos del país, llevando esperanza, atención de calidad y oportunidades de recuperación a miles de personas y sus familias. Hoy, una vez más, ponemos nuestra experiencia, capacidad y compromiso al servicio de quienes más lo necesitan para ayudar a reconstruir vidas y fortalecer el camino hacia la recuperación. This fund aims to support people with disabilities affected by the earthquake that struck Colombia on the morning of August 10. Our efforts will focus on helping rebuild homes, providing medical supplies, delivering mobility devices, distributing essential relief packages, and offering physical rehabilitation services. CIREC is a scientific and social organization with more than 50 years of experience serving people with disabilities and responding to emergencies through specialized medical outreach brigades. Throughout our history, we have worked in 23 of Colombia’s 32 departments, bringing care, hope, and recovery opportunities to thousands of individuals and their families. Today, once again, we are putting our expertise, capacity, and commitment at the service of those most in need, helping rebuild lives and support the path toward recovery and inclusion.
