Lil BUB’s Big Fund provides access to care for special needs pets nationwide. We work with community leaders, shelters, and rescues nationwide to create special needs focused frameworks. We visit schools to promote kindness and inclusion. Through our work, we share BUB’s message of overcoming adversity and the knowledge that the things that make us different are worthy of being seen and appreciated.

Town Bizness exists to bring the necessities of a dignified human life to the unhoused population of Oakland and Berkeley, CA. 
These necessities include good food, reliable shelter, clothing, toiletries, bedding, and basic creature comforts such as safe propane stoves and heaters, radios, and more, depending on each client’s needs. 

We also assist with housing, and keeping folks connected to service providers by supplying telephones and monthly service. 

The majority of folks we serve were born where they now live in tents, and once had property ownership in their families here in the bay area, but no longer do. Most are seniors, and many of them are now sick and/or disabled.

Providing a Safe Haven, Free Shelter to Abandon Visually Impaired Girls in Delhi, India

Empowering visually impaired girls was one of the prime objectives behind establishing the Blind Welfare Society as there is a dearth of organizations working for the betterment of visually impaired girls in India. We affirm that visually impaired young girls and women are more vulnerable and thus need extra support. It is our endeavor to create an environment where the lack of money or opportunities does not make blind girl’s situation worse.

Blind welfare society strongly resents any action which could show the visually impaired people as disabled. Blindness is just the physical loss of eyesight, nothing more. Blind people are like everyone else, and can be expected to perform on a par. BWS has a crucial role to play in creating a world where there are no barriers to people with sight loss. We strive to increase the independence, access to education, equal opportunity, social security and quality of life for people with vision loss.

Every child deserves a caregiver by their side — especially when they’re in the hospital. But for far too many families, the cost of meals, lodging, and daily essentials can become an overwhelming burden during an already devastating time.

Why LilyPads Was Started

Our founder's family has spent much time at UVA Children’s Hospital (and Boston Children's Hospital) when their daughter, Lily, was little and fighting for her life. The medical care was excellent — but the days were long, the nights were sleepless, and the costs piled up fast. They often felt like they were alone and drowning.

That’s where the seed for LilyPads was planted.

They wondered, *what if there was a better way?*
What if families had a soft place to land — a real bed, a warm meal, someone to say, “Hey, you’re not alone”?

LilyPads was born out of that question. Out of the memory of sleeping upright in a hospital chair. Out of the hope that no parent would ever again have to choose between being with their child and affording a place to sleep.

With a singular focus on increasing the naturalization rate in Massachusetts and beyond, Project Citizenship transforms the lives and futures of immigrants in the U.S.!  Our free legal services have enabled over 10,000 permanent residents to achieve U.S. citizenship since 2014.  By accepting the rights and responsibilities of citizenship, our new citizens achieve expanded opportunities, greater economic stability, family reunification, a voice in our democracy, and a deeper sense of belonging in this country.  We all benefit when immigrant groups are not isolated but are full participants in our social and civic life, creating more cohesive communities.

Project Citizenship focuses on those who would not be able to naturalize without assistance through the complex and lengthy process. We coach, we encourage, we inform, and we advocate for each client with the U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Service (USCIS) - from application to Oath of Allegiance.  We submit requests for waivers of the USCIS application fee and for special consideration for clients who are older or who have a disability. The Project Citizenship community includes over 1,000 attorney volunteers and many local organizations who partner with us. Our clients have a remarkable 95% success rate in achieving citizenship.  Our work is at the intersection of economic vitality, civic engagement, and social justice.

Also known as ANAK-Tnk, an NGO that serves the poorest children of Metro Manila through Education, Health, Nutrition, Protection.

Founded in 1998, Tulay ng Kabataan Foundation is a registered NGO whose mission is to serve the poorest children of Metro Manila. Their mission is to raise funds to support the Foundation in Manila and to help every child to reach the fullness of his human vocation, through his basic needs and rights, his desire to study or to get a training, his wish to be reconciled to his family and his thirst for being loved. The goal of TNK is to give back self-dignity and confidence to the children and to lead them to a complete autonomous life. A large team of Filipinos employees (street educators, psychologists, social workers) and community workers are whole-heartedly dedicated to taking care of the 1500 children. - **March 2024**: Launched our first pan-European study on the visibility of people with disabilities in social, professional, media, and political spheres.

PHAN creates tools and resources for folks with long COVID, and we advocate for clean air and prevention of airborne diseases. 

Our mission is to safeguard public health by improving air quality, promoting evidence-based Long COVID and COVID-19 prevention strategies, and empowering communities through education, advocacy, utilization of existing tools, and developing new tools and technologies using emerging technology and methods. We strive to reduce the impact of airborne pollutants and infectious diseases by advocating for the widespread adoption of HEPA and MERV filtration systems, supporting mask usage, disseminating reliable information about the long-term harm caused by COVID-19 and the effectiveness of clean air, and introducing collaborative and in-house developed tools using emerging technology.

Driven by the vision that everyone needs a decent place to live, Habitat for Humanity found its earliest inspirations as a grassroots movement on an interracial community farm in south Georgia. 

Since its founding in 1976, the Christian housing organization has grown to become a leading global nonprofit working in local communities across all 50 states in the U.S. and in more than 70 countries. 

Families and individuals in need of a hand up partner with Habitat for Humanity to build or improve a place they can call home. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. 

Through financial support, volunteering or adding a voice to support affordable housing, everyone can help families achieve the strength, stability and self-reliance they need to build better lives for themselves.

About Habitat Lower Keys:
Habitat for Humanity of Key West and Lower Florida Key is a nonprofit organization that helps families build and improve places to call home. We believe affordable housing plays a critical role in strong and stable communities. 

Habitat Lower Keys builds and repairs houses using volunteer labor and donations. Income-qualifying Lower Keys families purchase homes through no-profit, no-interest mortgages. To qualify, the families must demonstrate a need for affordable housing, qualify for the loan, and be willing to partner with Habitat by completing homeownership courses and contributing 200-300 hours of "sweat equity" through work on their home or within the community.

Homebuyer Program:
Habitat for Humanity of Key West and Lower Florida Keys, Inc. does not build houses for families or give homes away; we facilitate a partnership with families who demonstrate a need for adequate affordable housing, the ability to pay a mortgage, and a willingness to partner with Habitat for Humanity. 

This partnership also engages community supporters who join the families in the home building process and provide both financial and in-kind support for building supplies and materials. Homeowners invest hundreds of hours of their own labor into building their home and they pay back a no-profit, no-interest mortgage. 

Habitat for Humanity of Key West and Lower Florida Keys, Inc. is committed to the development of decent, affordable homes. We also are committed to working with partner families to insure that the experience of homeownership is positive and successful. 

Families are trained and supported in a variety of skills, including: basic construction skills to assist in the building of their house; home maintenance skills; various home improvement skills; neighborhood involvement and cooperation skills; budgeting and consumer awareness skills; and others as necessary.

Habitat homes are modestly sized. They are large enough for the homeowner family’s needs, but small enough to keep construction and maintenance costs down.

The labor of volunteers and partner families, efficient building methods, modest house sizes, and no-profit loans make it affordable for low-income families to purchase Habitat houses.

We are proud to be able to provide an opportunity for working families to stay in the Keys, put their roots down and raise their families.

Down here in the Lower Keys, available land to build on is very scarce. Habitat for Humanity of Key West and Lower Florida Keys also focuses on maintaining decent, affordable homes for low-income families by renovating or preserving existing homes. 

By making critical home repairs to homes owned by low-income seniors, or adults with disabilities, we allow these residents to remain in their homes independently. For older adults, aging in place in their homes extends longevity and quality of life, and safe and stable housing and community networks are core to these outcomes. Surveys of homeowners that partner with Habitat show they’re mentally and physically healthier, feel safer at home, and engage with their family and friends more. Recognizing that safe and accessible housing is a key social determinant of health, Habitat is committed to making repairs focused on safety and accessibility for those in need.

Affordable Rentals:
Recognizing the scope of the affordable housing crisis in the Lower Keys, habitat also provides 27 affordable rentals for low-income families and residents. Keeping our rents below the city and county-mandated affordable levels allows our tenants to focus on why they live here and enjoy the beautiful Lower Keys environment, instead of spending all of their time working multiple jobs just to make it.

For some of our tenants, a Habitat rental can be the gateway to homeownership. Their rental agreement and payment history with Habitat helps them establish credit and show a history of on-time payments, which then helps them to qualify to become a Habitat homeowner.

Why does housing matter?
Affordable housing plays a critical role in strong communities because it is a determining factor for mental and physical health, as well as in educational outcomes for children. Access to affordable homeownership allows essential workers to stay in the Keys, put
down roots and raise their families here, establishing a foundation for building generational wealth. Communities that are diverse across income levels, race and culture are resilient communities. 

Housing that is affordable and decent also reduces taxpayer expenses and boosts the local economy. Allowing seniors to age in place in their own homes reduces the tax payer burden of supported living. Safe, affordable homes reduce public costs associated with
illness and poor school performance in children. Construction and rehabilitation of affordable housing employs local trade workers and powers local businesses.

How do we achieve our vision?
To achieve our vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to live, we build with hammers, with volunteers and with families. We build affordable homes for local essential workers to purchase, we make critical repairs to keep residents on fixed incomes in their homes, we build future homeowners through affordable rentals and homeowner education classes, and we build community in the process. We build through advocacy and through partnerships, and by bringing people together to forge bonds, share their skills and share
their stories.

We believe no woman should endure a life of misery and isolation, simply for trying to bring a child into the world. 

Obstetric fistula is a devastating childbirth injury. It leaves a woman incontinent, humiliated, and—all too often—shunned by her community. Obstetric fistula ranks as one of humanity’s most disabling injuries—but it can be cured by a surgery that costs $624. Few investments in human health can yield such a dramatic impact on a woman, her family, and her community. 

At least one million women today suffer for want of a surgery that can transform their lives. Living primarily in rural areas of Africa and Asia, women suffering with untreated fistula or severe perineal tears (a similar childbirth injury that causes fecal incontinence) endure the burden of debilitating injuries on top of crushing poverty and gender inequality.

There are three main barriers that prevent them from accessing the care they need: Stigma and lack of awareness, poverty, and inadequate healthcare systems.

Resilience1220 empowers young people to build resilience, strength, and the tools to master life's challenges.

Resilience1220 provides free counseling services to youth ages 12-20 in the mountain communities west of Denver. Through individual counseling, support groups and community outreach, we work to raise awareness of the social, emotional, and mental-health issues young adults face, and to provide the necessary life skills to create wellness and resiliency in their lives.

Four years ago, our mountain communities faced the reality of three teen suicides. We were made painfully aware of the mental health issues that young people face and the lack of life saving resources accessible to them. Resilience1220 was founded by a group of local therapists and community members. They worked tirelessly to break down barriers to neighborhood mental health resources and the social stigmas around seeking care. We provide confidential counseling services to youth ages 12 to 20 years old at no cost. Our service area includes Evergreen, Conifer, Bailey, Clear Creek, Gilpin, and Park counties.

Counseling sessions with Resilience1220 teach stress-reduction techniques, tools to ask for and provide help, validation, a place to sort through belief systems, and a non-judgmental place to share their feelings.

Resilience1220 fosters an environment of mutual respect in which our staff, clients, and volunteers can feel valued. We seek to serve all members of our community, without regard to gender, race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, age, sexual orientation or identity, abilities, political affiliation, or education. Our mission is to lower the suicide rate and prevent homelessness in the veteran population.  

Formerly known as Operation Combat Bikesaver. Our flagship program is what we call "Hotrod Therapy," which teaches veterans the skills and techniques to rebuild an old beat up motorcycle and create the bike of their dreams.  Through this distractive therapy veterans also get to work through their problems and end up "rebuilding" themselves as well.  We have seen some great men and women go through incredible changes in this program.  The veteran then gets to keep their project at no cost, and they usually end up sticking around to help mentor the next veteran through the process.  
While we are most known for our Hotrod Therapy program, we offer a variety of programs to improve the lives of veterans that served their country.  The "On Your Feet" program helps veterans going through hard times.  Our weekly veteran peer support group "Lima Charlie" meets every Thursday and gives veterans a safe space to workshop their problems with like-minded individuals who have been through similar experiences.  Our F.A.T. Program, or "Fitness and Tranquility" helps veterans to live a healthy, active, and peaceful lifestyle, which can be an adjustment to some.  Just to name a few.

**What We Do**
STAND gives mobility a second life. We collect high-quality prosthetic limbs that would otherwise be discarded in the UK, Europe, Australia, and North America. These devices are disassembled, cleaned, and refurbished in our workshop in Bristol, UK, and then redistributed to trusted rehabilitation centers across sub-Saharan Africa.

By transforming clinical waste into life-changing mobility, we bridge two critical gaps: the surplus of unused prosthetic technology in high-income countries, and the lack of access to assistive devices in low-resource communities.

**Why It Matters**
In much of sub-Saharan Africa, prosthetic limbs are unaffordable and inaccessible. Most prosthetic components must be imported and are subject to high shipping fees and import duties. At the same time, national health insurance rarely covers these devices. For many people, this results in a life of isolation and dependence after limb loss. STAND works to change that by lowering the cost of care and supporting local clinics with the tools, training, and technology they need.

**Our Impact**
In the past 10 years, STAND has delivered more than 20,000 prosthetic limbs to partners in 8 African countries. We help thousands of people regain mobility, independence, and dignity. Every year, we divert over a ton of advanced mobility equipment from landfill and repurpose it into valuable, safe, and high-quality devices.

Every limb we ship is quality-checked by certified professionals, and every delivery is matched to a local clinic's needs. In most cases, the refurbished limb is provided at little or no cost to the recipient.

They work in hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and communities, and are often the first point of contact for new amputees.

We also invest in training the next generation of prosthetic technicians, especially women and individuals with lived experience of limb difference. By creating inclusive and gender-sensitive care environments, we ensure better outcomes for all.

**A Sustainable Solution**
STAND operates one of the only recycling streams for prosthetic limbs in the world. Our work reduces landfill waste and lowers the carbon footprint of healthcare. In 2023, our program saved the equivalent of 5.7 metric tons of CO₂ emissions, that's like planting over 300 oak trees.

To promote the creative participation in society of those differently abled, through ecological agriculture and expressive arts.

Since our inception we have created opportunities for people of All Abilities to be impactful within our local food system and community.  For our Farmers of All Abilities and their loved ones, we have tried to address the  issue of ‘aging out' of the school system, which often leads to lack of support services, isolation and fear for the future given the difficulties of living with a (dis)ability. At Orkestai our community tends to a no-till garden, pastured poultry, does yoga and other movement exercises and enjoys culinary and art projects. During Overwintering, we spend more time the forest, connecting with nature through shelter building, firemaking, wildlife tracking and more. Our Mission

To provide a home, food, education, treatment, outreach care, and, most of all, love for the disabled and abandoned children of Timor Leste. These children live at the orphanage, and the nuns welcome every child of every race and religion, which is regarded as a gift.

The Need

Alma Nuns welcome children who are disabled and abandoned. They are provided support as required for each child, housing at the orphanage, food, education (including for disabled children living locally with family), and outreach treatment to enable them to lead enriched lives.

The Solution

Alma Nuns provide a home and education at the orphanage where housing, food, education, love, and treatment are given to every child, including outreach programs to provide care and support to families with disabled children.

Our Impact

They have operated in Timor Leste since 2004 and now care for 18 children at the orphanage. They educate 40 children at the school and provide outreach care to 20 families who have children with disabilities. The nuns have helped transform the lives of over 2,000 children since 2004.

Karim Slaoui was born in Belgium in 1987. After a thesis in applied mathematics to forecast the impact of tsunamis on the coastline, he launched Take Eat Easy, a food delivery company by bicycle, pioneering in South Europe. Next, he started the venture Cowboy, promoting urban cycling.
Karim was driven by optimism and innovation.

Karim was obsessed with ‘equality of opportunities’. He encouraged youngsters to be ambitious and to follow their dreams while pursuing an engineering degree. He was also involved in charities dedicated to help underprivileged teenagers in France to choose wisely for their future. With his Moroccan name, he faced prejudices and he was determined to change biased mindsets.

In 2018 Karim wanted to run a marathon but had something odd in the knee. By the end of the year, he was diagnosed with a synovial sarcoma. After 5 years of experimental treatment in 3 different countries, surgeries, and other fights, he became paralyzed because of a metastatic tumor in his spine. He lost the ability to walk and to move from the chest down.


His wife Aurore Balsan and he discovered the lack of innovation in addressing the challenges faced by wheelchair users. Before his death on September 29th 2023, Aurore Balsan, his wife, and Moncef Slaoui, his father, committed to pursue his dream and vision of promoting more innovation and entrepreneurship to help address the challenges faced by wheelchair users.

We support education, safety and wellbeing of vulnerable children by training local young adults as their tutors.

History of Toa Nafasi
"Nova was sexually abused as a child multiple times starting at the age of six. As a boy child, he had neither the comprehension nor the language to report to a parent or teacher. Growing up with the secret and shame, he learned child sexual abuse is common place in his community. And children with disabilities are twice susceptible to abuse and violence. Studies show 1 in 3 girls and 1 in 7 boys will experience sexual violence between the age of 2 and 17. Additionally, 1 in 3 students enrolled in grade 1 have a learning disability of some kind. With this knowledge, he went on to start Linda Community to address abuse and violence and later fold the organization with a learning disabilities project. This birthed Toa Nafasi Foundation – a locally led organization building the capacity of local young adults to support vulnerable children in public primary schools. 

Why Toa Nafasi
Tanzanian education doesn’t treat each child as an individual with diverse aptitudes and learning styles. The curriculum for primary schools barely encourages and supports children from early age and grade to develop strengths, overcome challenges, and cultivate creativity.  In 11 public primary schools in Moshi we have surveyed in 2020, we have learned 30 percent of grade 1 students have a learning disability. In a community where 1 in 3 girls and 1 in 7 boys are likely to experience sexual violence (According to a 2009 National Survey on Violence Against Children), children with disabilities are twice vulnerable to violence.

The goal of Toa Nafasi Foundation is therefore to enrich the classroom experience, create a linkage between school and home, unleash children self protective skills and offer a chance to succeed for both student and tutor.

Toa Nafasi addresses three major infrastructural challenges in Tanzania. The first problem is the lack of special education information and programming in the Tanzanian public school system. Nearly 30 percent of students have a learning difficulty don’t respond to standard educational methods. Without effective special education pedagogies in place, these students are often stigmatized as disobedient, lazy, or stupid. The second is the lack of comprehensive body safety education and support in the school system that help students build their ability to protect and prevent abuse and violence. 1 in 5 children experience violence before they are 18 years. And those with disabilities are twice vulnerable. Without taking drastic measures, the children will continue to experience violence with multiple short and long term impacts. The third problem Toa Nafasi addresses is widespread lack of opportunity for young adults. Tanzanian youth under 30 make up over 70 percent of the population yet unemployment rate is 11. 5 percent.

Our Approach

The Toa Nafasi model is a three-tiered approach of assessment, referral, and curriculum modification that build the asset of young adults and enhancing community relations. In assessment, our tutors observe all the children enrolled in grade 1 for social behaviors, adaptive abilities, and motor skills as well as test them for literacy, numeracy, and cognitive skills to get a full picture. In referrals, we work with health professionals and institutions to treat those pupils whom we have identified are struggling due to medical, psychological issues or experiences of trauma. In curriculum modification, tutors work with children who are struggling to reach their potential to help them complete the standard Tanzanian curriculum in a modified context. We've also modified the curriculum to include personal body safety curriculum for children.

Our programs

Toa Nafasi recruits young adults from the local community, and provide them professional development support on child protection and learning disabilities. The young adults work full time as tutors supporting public primary school students with learning difficulties and at risk of abuse and violence.

Each year, the tutors assess students enrolled in grade one to identify children with experience of trauma and with learning difficulties. Then follows a Referral stage where students identified with medical and psychological challenges are taken to care and treatment facilities. The young adults then provide tutoring and psychosocial support in child friendly spaces, and through play.

An important component of the program is community engagement, where the tutors work with families of the vulnerable children, school administrators, justice system, and community development and education offices to better support the vulnerable children, to promote safety, wellbeing and address the stigma often surrounding abuse, violence and learning differences.

Toa Nafasi provides the students with the education and holistic support services, and the young adults that run the program with employment. The impact is not only empowering individual students with age appropriate knowledge and support, but also giving the young adults a meaningful role in the community.

The END Fund is the only private philanthropic initiative solely dedicated to ending the most common neglected tropical diseases.

**Our Mission: To control and eliminate the most prevalent neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) among the world's most vulnerable communities and people.** 

NTDs are a group of parasitic and bacterial diseases largely prevalent in tropical regions, responsible for blindness, severe disfigurement, stunted cognitive and physical development, malnutrition, and anemia, among several other issues. Despite having a significant impact on the lives and livelihoods of the 1.6b individuals affected, these diseases currently receive little attention on the global health agenda. Their comprehensive impact on all aspects of daily life means that the presence of NTDs costs affected countries billions of dollars per year in lost productivity, out-of-pocket expenses, and reduced socioeconomic and educational attainment. 

However, **the treatments and knowledge required to eliminate these diseases are readily available. Due to generous donation programs from the pharmaceutical industry, the annual cost of treatment per individual is, on average, 50 cents per year.** Demonstrating the uniquely cost-effective impact of NTD treatment, [a Nobel Prize-winning study](https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.1111/j.1468-0262.2004.00481.x) showed that deworming is the most efficient means of improving children’s school attendance and capacity to learn. At a national level, a recent [report by Deloitte on Nigeria](https://www2.deloitte.com/za/en/nigeria/pages/strategy/articles/Ending_The_Neglect.html) showcases the significant gains affected economies stand to make should NTDs be eliminated, with Nigeria’s economy estimated to receive an $18.9b boost from now until 2030.

[The END Fund](https://www.end.org) is helping to accelerate the elimination of NTDs to support affected individuals and communities in living healthier, more prosperous lives and fulfilling their vast potential. **Working in close partnership with stakeholders across the global NTD community, we build and distribute a pool of funding to support local partners in eliminating NTDs. To ensure maximum impact for investments, we provide technical and strategic assistance and increase coordination and awareness across the broad range of stakeholders.** 

Our work helps children stay healthy and in school, adults to fulfill their productive potential and earn a living, and communities to thrive. **Since our founding in 2012, we have distributed more than 2b treatments, trained more than 7m health workers, and performed more than 180k disability-preventing surgeries, with 152m individuals treated in 2024 alone.**

Strongest Hearts is so excited to have you here.  We founded Strongest Hearts in 2022 after our son’s diagnosis with Becker’s Muscular Dystrophy.  BMD is an incredibly serious disease that affects the muscle systems of young boys and men.  Like the more common and more severe Duchenne’s, it is progressive and life threatening.

Strongest Hearts intends to end that threat.  Our non-profit is designed to exclusively work to find a cure or treatment, educate and advocate for this deadly disease.  DMD is the number one killer for adolescents in the US and we search to find a solution that will help over 90% of the DMD and BMD community.  

Like so many people and families, we have felt fear, anxiety and hopelessness and have received massively conflicting data from doctors and websites.  It is time to stop that cycle and move towards a day when we can say that a diagnosis of any muscular dystrophy, while unsettling, is no longer a tragedy.  We truly believe that we have the people, the skill and the technology to end this scourge once and for all.

Dar-us-Sakina is a safe space for people of all abilities and their caregivers.  We inspire the community to abandon stigmas and embrace individuals with disabilities with empathy and respect.  Together, we are better!

We are dedicated to providing inclusive opportunities for individuals with disabilities, while empowering the affected and their caregivers with social support and access to local resources.  We envision a Muslim community where individuals with disabilities are fully accepted and included, and both they and their caregivers have adequate access to support.

Dar-us-Sakina offers its services to all special needs individuals and their caregivers within the Houston community, but reserves its Zakat fund for Muslim families who are in financial need or crisis. Our mission is achieved through three key service areas: Education, Support, and Community Awareness.

Education:

Special Needs Weekend Islamic School Programs: At four locations across Houston, children with special needs come weekly to the masjid to learn about their faith using an adapted curriculum and to be included in the community.

Teen Adult Program (TAP): This program helps individuals with special needs take the first step to adulthood by teaching them independent life skills in a supportive social environment.

Support:

Caregiver Support Groups: This allows mothers, fathers, and siblings of individuals with special needs to connect with others with similar life circumstances.

Events: From inclusive family events that make all accommodations to caregiver training events, Dar-us-Sakina engages the local special needs population on a monthly basis.

Zakat Services: For special needs families in crisis, we are committed to providing comprehensive support through our Zakat Fund, including funding of emergency respite care, counseling, necessary evaluations, advocacy and durable medical equipment.

Community Awareness:

Youth Inclusion Training: We visit local Islamic schools, masaajid, and Scouts to train typical youth on accepting and including their brothers and sisters with disabilities.

Community Education: We conduct awareness events and workshops to educate the general community on disability awareness and early childhood intervention.

Sakina Internship: This is a one year commitment for college age students who dedicate one day of the week serving individuals with special needs while learning about related topics.

Volunteer Enrichment Program: This is a volunteer buddy program for High School students.

Providing community-based rehabilitation, wheelchairs & inclusive education for children with disabilities living in Uganda
 


Kyaninga Child Development Centre (KCDC) was founded in 2014 to provide much needed, high quality, specialized and affordable therapy and rehabilitation to children with disabilities and their families and carers in western Uganda in order to enable them to lead more independent lives.  The Inclusive Education Hub provides professional development for teachers in Inclusive, child-led teaching practices and the Mobility workshop designs, develops and manufactures wheelchairs using locally available materials, suitable for the local terrain.

In addition to this, KCDC acts as a platform for education and support in the field of disability, offering training as well as guidance on best-practice methods to both individuals and healthcare professionals as well as communities and other institutions requiring assistance.

Physicians for Peace brings quality education to surgical care providers around the world. It received nonprofit status in 1989.

Physicians for Peace is dedicated to educating and empowering local providers of surgical care, to alleviate suffering and transform lives in under-resourced communities around the world.  

For 35 years, Physicians for Peace has brought long-term, sustainable, replicable, and evidence-based training to underserved communities, helping them to sustainably build local capability and capacity.

Family to Family Network creates success for children with disabilities by empowering their families with information, training, referrals and support as try to get help for their children from the complex education, health care and social service systems.

Family to Family Network believes that ALL children should be included and supported in our schools and community in order to ensure the future success of children with disabilities.

F2FN transforms lives by helping people discover possibilities, see potential when others see barriers, and advocate for what their children need to achieve their dreams.  By changing attitudes and mindsets about disabilities, our organization changes lives to make sure every individual gets to live THEIR best life.

By 2031, Our Goal is to Help 25,000 Families See Possibilities in their children with disabilities!
You can help us reach our goal by:
1) Supporting the development of a bilingual learning platform where families can access training at their own pace;
2) Providing intensive case management to families in underserved communities, especially our communities of color and those that are non-english speaking;
3) Updating & maintaining our bilingual website that provides accurate & consistent information on the special education process;
4) Subsidizing our annual conference for 500 family members & youth with disabilities.

Through these services, families and individuals with disabilities have an opportunity to network and learn from one another.

There are over 127,000 students with disabilities receiving special education services in the greater Houston Region 4 Education Service Center area.  This does not include those receiving accommodations only through 504 plans or children who are home schooled or in private school placements.

29% Request help with the Individualized Education Program (IEP) special education process. 28% Request help finding resources in the community.  39% Needed help navigating Adult Service systems, Medicaid Managed Care or Social Security.

Family to Family helps families understand their rights & responsibilities, while also aiding them in understanding the right words to use, right place to look, right person to connect with when trying to find services & supports for their children with disabilities.

Education is the only FREE service available to children with disabilities.  Adult services are not free, and there are over 150,000 Texans with disabilities waiting over 10 years for long term services & supports.  That is why it is imperative for children with disabilities to receive the necessary supports and services at school so that they can become contributing members of our community and live meaningful lives after high school.

**About Neurotherapeutic Pediatric Therapies**

A source of shared community and healing since 1985, "Neuro" is a place where everyone belongs. We are ***the only nonprofit outpatient clinic group in Oregon that provides pediatric occupational, physical, and speech therapy. For both pediatric clients and adults, we also offer mental health and naturopathic care***. Neuro programs are designed to honor the whole person, celebrate their victories, and seek growth in challenge. By using Nature-based therapy, Play therapy, Feeding therapy, and much much more, we incorporate the most effective and innovative treatments and techniques to empower our young clients with new skills and understanding about themselves and the world. Most of our clients are living with multiple diagnoses and many require long-term or even lifelong therapies. We provide supports for parents, foster parents, and guardians to help them help their children to live their best lives. Annually, more than 1500 families are supported by our 50 specialty providers and 25 dedicated staff.

As a majority of our clients receive Medicaid, the removal of financial barriers to therapy is vital to ensuring our families can thrive. Neuro is a trusted resource in each of our seven communities.  We're also the first organization of our kind designated as a Culturally Specific Services provider by the Oregon Health Authority--as we primarily serve neurodiverse people living with disabilities.

Faces Up Uganda (Faces Up) is a youth-led, community-based not-for-profit that serves young people (6-25 years), in and out of school, refugees, juveniles, and those with disabilities. Our current focus areas include Wakiso and Kampala districts, plus Nakivaale refugee settlement, in Isingiro district.

We serve young people like Mark. In 2019, Mark joined our program. His initial drawings were dark scenes of violence, death, and despair. We later learned he was a refugee from South Sudan, carrying trauma he couldn’t express in words. So we gave him what he needed: space, pencils, and presence. Over time, his drawings transformed from guns to flowers, from fire to birds in flight. His smile returned, his confidence grew, and his performance at school improved. Mark’s journey showed us that art is more than expression; it’s healing. 

That’s why our team is on a mission to extend arts education to all young people like Mark.
