WOCU 2025 Gala & Fundraiser - September 11
Women of Color Unite started with a small gathering of Women of Color working in the entertainment industry. On that first invite, it said: "Women of Color... Unite!" That became the name of our non-profit. Today, WOCU has grown to become the largest non-profit for Women of Color working in entertainment, with over 6000+ members. At our Gala, our members connect with each other and mix and mingle with industry professionals - while enjoying food, libations and a show. For our seventh anniversary, we are celebrating bigger than ever before! Here’s to lucky number 7! Location CAAM (California African American Museum) is a powerful and deeply symbolic venue for WOCU’s gala—not only because of its mission to showcase the history, art, and culture of African Americans, but also because it reflects our own values of community, creativity, and resilience. Located in the heart of Exposition Park in Los Angeles, CAAM has been a cornerstone of Black cultural preservation since its founding in 1977. It has hosted exhibitions ranging from civil rights photography to contemporary Black art and social commentary. WOCU held its very first gala at CAAM, and returning to this iconic space feels both like a homecoming and a celebration of how far we’ve come. Hosting our gala here is more than just a beautiful event—it’s a tribute to the legacy we’re building on. About Women of Color Unite Women of Color Unite (WOCU) is an LA-based social action and non-profit organization that focuses on remedying the inequities that face Women of Color in today’s entertainment and media industries. We stand for hiring parity, fair treatment, and providing resources to Women of Color content creators industry-wide. WOCU, a collective of over 6000 women and growing, creates opportunities for engagement between hiring agents and our active membership of experienced women to address the indefensible precept: “I don’t know any WOC that I can hire.” The funds raised in this fundraiser will go towards our yearly operating costs.
