Village Earth

WE are VILLAGE EARTH, a publicly supported 501(c)3 nonprofit organization founded in 1993.

Our core mission is to help reconnect communities to the resources that promote human well-being. We aim to achieve this by enhancing social and political empowerment, community self-reliance, and self-determination. We primarily work towards this goal by strengthening intermediate and grassroots organizations.

We strengthen these organizations through various methods, including fiscal sponsorship, networking, training, research, and advocacy.

OUR WORK MATTERS to our fiscally-sponsored organizations or Global Affiliates because we serve as a crucial support structure for them. Here's HOW:

Being a Support Structure: Village Earth provides fiscal sponsorship and additional support structure for grassroots organizations in indigenous and marginalized communities across the world.

Focus on Grassroots Justice Work: Our grassroots organizations (the global affiliates) are "working on the front-lines of social & environmental justice". This context underscores the challenging and vital nature of our/their work.

Methods of Support: Village Earth strengthens intermediate and grassroots organizations through several key methods:

• Fiscal sponsorship
• Networking and Fundraising
• Training & Research
• Advocacy

Enhancing Capacity and Effectiveness: Providing these services helps the affiliates in their efforts. The types of support offered, such as training (like the Sustainable Community Development certificate), access to research (like the Native Land Information System initiative), networking opportunities, and advocacy, enhances the capacity, knowledge, and outreach of these grassroots groups.

Contributing to Core Mission: By supporting these organizations, Village Earth helps them achieve the broader goals of enhancing social and political empowerment, community self-reliance, and self-determination in the communities they serve. The affiliates are the direct implementers of this work on the ground, and Village Earth's support is instrumental to their success in pursuing justice and well-being.
