Rita needs immediate motel placement, but our motel fund is too low. She is disabled, uses a walker, and is being sent back to the hospital with a recurring infection. She is also about to match for housing, but only if we can stabilize her and get her documents submitted in time. Our motel fund is depleted after housing Robert and covering next month’s room for medically-fragile Kelley. Because Rita has her puppy Blue, we must use a full-price motel. We are raising $3,000–$6,000 to secure a room immediately so Rita can recover, we can help her complete her housing documents, and so her dog Blue can receive his next parvo vaccine through our partner HAPI. The good news is we expect her to match soon and likely require no more than two months in the motel. This is a critical window. A motel room is the bridge between illness and housing.

Help us stabilize fragile unhoused folks and get them housed Kelley is passing out—sometimes just from sitting up. She has advanced lung disease and is very sick. We moved her into a motel today even though it meant going out on a financial limb—because leaving her outside was no longer safe. Now she can stay warm, get meals, and have Lifelong providers come directly to her room. We’ve already gotten Kelley into the housing queue and are pursuing medically fragile housing or respite. We used our reserves to act fast, but those funds now need to be replenished—especially since we are still supporting Robert, who is extremely fragile. Our goal is $3,600 to cover two months of motel for Kelley plus extra food.
