Founded in 2001, Sindh Community Foundation (SCF) is a nationally recognized non-governmental organization headquartered in Hyderabad, Sindh. Officially registered under the Societies Act XXI of 1860 (Reg. No. 5104) in 2007, SCF is certified by the Pakistan Centre for Philanthropy, registered with the Economic Affairs Division, and holds tax-exempt status from the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR). On the international front, SCF has held special consultative status with the United Nations ECOSOC since 2015, is an accredited observer to the Green Climate Fund, and is a member of the Global Disaster Risk Reduction Network and the National Humanitarian Network (NHN).

SCF began as a youth-led initiative promoting blood donation in underserved communities and has grown into a dynamic development organization working to empower marginalized groups—especially women, youth, and rural communities. Its vision is to create a just and inclusive society, free from discrimination.

SCF works across key development areas, including education, gender equality, youth empowerment, economic justice, disaster risk reduction, climate resilience, governance, and human rights. The organization emphasizes grassroots participation and sustainable development.

SCF has signed Letters of Understanding (LOUs) with the Literacy and Education Departments of Sindh to support literacy and climate change education programs. The organization actively promotes girls’ education by training female teachers in gender-responsive teaching methods, providing school uniforms to girls from low-income families, and offering transportation support to ensure continued attendance.

Additionally, SCF works to improve access to clean water and sanitation facilities and plays an active role in humanitarian response efforts during climate-related catastrophes in Sindh, supporting vulnerable communities to build resilience and recover effectively. In recognition of its outstanding contributions, SCF has been honored with the "Just Climate Solution Award" at COP27 in Egypt. This award was presented to SCF in acknowledgment of its tireless efforts to advance labor rights for women cotton workers in the face of rising temperatures and the impacts of climate change in Sindh. The award was granted by Women Engage for Common Future, the United Nations Climate Technology Centre & Network (UNCTCN), and the Women and Gender Constituency.

Wheel for Education

The Sindh Community Foundation (SCF) has launched “Wheel for Education” to ensure that distance and poverty never force a girl to drop out of school again . The initiative supports rural girls from Grades 6 to 10 in Thatta, Matiari, Sanghar, and Tando Muhammad Khan , where secondary schools are located 3–7 kilometers away and most families cannot afford safe, reliable transport. Without such support, girls are often forced to discontinue their education and become exposed to early child marriage, domestic labor, and lifelong poverty . Through transport support, school facility upgrades, and parent–teacher engagement , the project enables girls to continue lower and upper secondary education—paving the way toward their dreams, confidence, and independence . In 2017, 12-year-old Keenjhar from rural Tando Muhammad Khan completed Grade 5 but could not continue. Her school was 6 km away , her father could not afford transport, and her marriage was being arranged. When SCF introduced Wheel for Education , she became one of its first beneficiaries. With regular van service and community support, she completed matriculation in 2021 , becoming the first girl in her family to finish secondary school . Today, she is pursuing a degree in education. “Before, my parents planned my wedding. Now they plan my graduation,” she smiles. “The van didn’t just take me to school — it took me toward freedom.” Your contribution directly helps rural girls in Sindh continue their education safely and confidently: PKR 180,000 (≈ 650 USD) helps a girl complete lower secondary education (Grades 6–8) . PKR 120,000 (≈ 435 USD) helps a girl complete upper secondary/matriculation (Grades 9–10) . PKR 300,000 (≈ 1,090 USD) enables a girl to complete the full five-year secondary education cycle , from Grade 6 to matriculation. Every contribution keeps a girl in school, protects her from early marriage and child labor, and opens a path toward independence, dignity, and opportunity. “Educate a girl, and you educate a generation.”
