Shobujer Ovijan Foundation has started working with women contributing to the global value chain of readymade garments and their children, Trade union, later expanded their areas and operation

and included intervention for domestic workers, Leather workers, transgender communities, adolescent girls, women from ethnic communities, women from vulnerable communities. Shobujer Ovijan Foundation facilitate the women to learn about their rights and entitlements and to raise their voice collectively and systematically so that could be heard. SOF also Strengthening of the trade unions through capacity building initiatives and required reformation to ensure inclusiveness (gender representation) and engaging the trade unions with the national level networks and platforms.

Shobujer Ovijan Foundation is more focus working with women RMG workers with an aim to enable them to mobilize collective movement for their rights and entitlements both in workplace and family. SOF provide capacity building and networking support to empower these women against any act of violence. Since 2009 SOF supported 40,000 women contributing to RMG economy. The major interventions of SOF includes- education programme for children, leadership programme for young women, violence against women programme, child welfare (labor/trafficking) programme.

Apart from mobilizing the grassroot women and institutions, SOF do needful evidence generation as their contribution to the national level feminist movements for policy changes. Apart from periodic interventions and supporting the feminist movements Shobujer Ovijan Foundation have services like Shishu Bikash Kenrda (Day Care) designed especially for the women working in the RMG factories but open to all the children from the nearby vulnerable communities. Women Café is another service-oriented initiative by SOF, where women can refresh themselves and can discuss about the challenges they are facing in their workplace and their family. The café also provides the opportunity to the women to seek legal advice and support if necessary.

A Safe Space for Dreams – How SOF Empowers Working Mothers and Children In Bangladesh’s bustling garment sector, over 4.5 million workers stitch together the nation’s success — yet behind every piece of clothing lies a hidden story of struggle, especially for the women who power this industry. Most of these women are mothers , striving to balance long hours at the factory with the urgent need to care for their children. The challenge of childcare, health, and safety weighs heavily — leaving mothers torn between responsibility and livelihood. At SOF ( Shobujer Ovijan Foundation) , we believe that a woman should never have to choose between her income and her child’s wellbeing . That’s why we’ve built community-based, play-centered daycare and learning centers within and around RMG factories. Here, children aged 4 months to 12 years can learn, play, and thrive in a safe, nurturing environment — while mothers can work with peace of mind and dignity . Why This Matters When a mother steps into her workplace without the burden of worry, her entire world changes. Instead of anxiety, she feels confidence . Instead of exhaustion, she feels hope . Instead of the cycle of poverty, she begins a cycle of empowerment . The Impact of Donations With your support, SOF creates a lasting ripple of change: 200+ women can access safe, affordable childcare directly connected to their workplace. Each woman’s empowerment touches 20+ family members , leading to a total of 4,000+ lives uplifted across communities. Children (4 months–12 years), (4 month to 6 years for daycare center and 6 years to 12 years- community based learning center) receive daily nutrition, emotional care, and early learning — setting a foundation for lifelong development. Employers benefit too — reduced absenteeism, higher productivity, and better retention of female workers. In that circle, a mother’s mind rests, a child’s laughter echoes, and a brighter future quietly begins to grow.
