A Safe Space for Dreams – How SOF Empowers Working Mothers and Children

In Bangladesh’s bustling garment sector, over 4.5 million workers stitch together the nation’s success — yet behind every piece of clothing lies a hidden story of struggle, especially for the women who power this industry.
Most of these women are mothers, striving to balance long hours at the factory with the urgent need to care for their children. The challenge of childcare, health, and safety weighs heavily — leaving mothers torn between responsibility and livelihood.

At SOF (Shobujer Ovijan Foundation), we believe that a woman should never have to choose between her income and her child’s wellbeing. That’s why we’ve built community-based, play-centered daycare and learning centers within and around RMG factories. Here, children aged 4 months to 12 years can learn, play, and thrive in a safe, nurturing environment — while mothers can work with peace of mind and dignity.

• Children (4 months–12 years), (4 month to 6 years for daycare center and 6 years to 12 years- community based learning center) receive daily nutrition, emotional care, and early learning — setting a foundation for lifelong development.
