SEEDS (Sustainable Environment and Ecological Development Society, www.seedsindia.org) is a 30+ years experienced humanitarian organisation that enables community resilience through practical solutions in the areas of disaster readiness, response and rehabilitation.

Since 1994, the organisation has worked extensively on every major disaster in the Indian subcontinent – grafting innovative technology on to traditional wisdom. SEEDS is recognized as one of the important humanitarian actors in India and Asia. It has reached out to families affected by disasters and climate stresses; strengthened and rebuilt schools and homes; and has invariably put its faith in skill building, planning and communications to foster long-term resilience. SEEDS is also India’s first agency to be certified for the global Core Humanitarian Standards – an international certification system for quality and accountability in humanitarian response.

We extend our commitment to voluntarily contribute to the goals set for 2030 in the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction (SFDRR), Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and the Paris Agreement.

Urgent Appeal: India Floods 2025

Support Families Facing the Worst of the Monsoons India is in the grip of one of its most widespread flood emergencies in recent years. Early monsoons, dam overflows, and extreme rainfall have triggered severe floods across multiple states, displacing thousands of families and destroying homes, livelihoods, and infrastructure. Where We’re Responding Assam: Entire villages in Cachar and Jorhat districts lie submerged following dam-induced floods and river breaches. Families are camped along roadsides or on raised embankments with little to no access to clean water, food, or shelter. The need for safe drinking water, hygiene support, and temporary shelter is immediate. Odisha: In Balasore district, back-to-back floods from heavy rainfall and upstream dam releases have left more than 80,000 people affected. Vulnerable communities remain cut off, with many still stranded or living in damaged homes. Relief efforts focus on shelter kits, WASH supplies, and support for women, children, and the elderly. Manipur: Flash floods in Senapati district struck without warning. Over 15,000 people have been affected. Families lost everything - homes, documents, school materials. Water stagnation and damaged toilets have increased public health risks. Youth-led evacuation efforts and temporary camps helped in the immediate aftermath, but long-term support is now crucial. How You Can Help Ration Kits – ₹2,500 / $30 To support one family with wheat, flour, rice, pulses, oil, salt, and sugar Hygiene Kits – ₹1,800 / $22 Includes face masks, toothbrush, toothpaste, towel, sanitary pads, mosquito net, washing soap, bathing soap, bucket, and mug Family Kits – ₹2,100 / $25 A set of essential utensils, bedding, and household items to help a family cook and rest safely Transitional Shelter – ₹1,10,000 / $1,325 Materials for rebuilding a safe home with a washroom and toilet for a family of five Every donation counts. Help SEEDS reach the most vulnerable, stranded, left behind, and with no safety net. Together, we can bring dignity, safety, and hope to those facing this disaster.
