Physicians for Peace is dedicated to educating and empowering local providers of surgical care, to alleviate suffering and transform lives in under-resourced communities around the world.

For 35 years, Physicians for Peace has brought long-term, sustainable, replicable, and evidence-based training to underserved communities, helping them to sustainably build local capability and capacity.

We believe access to quality surgical care is essential to transforming lives in communities around the world.

We believe in the exponential impact of education to empower.

We build local capacity through training, not service provision.

We work through partnerships, by invitation and in collaboration.

We respect diverse cultures and traditions.

We emphasize being relevant and adaptable, prioritizing locally identified needs and sustainable interventions, over our own supply of volunteers or donor mandates.

We innovate, through use of new technologies and ongoing technical support.

We commit to monitoring and evaluation; holding ourselves accountable.

We value learning.

Teach One.Heal Many

I am honored to serve as Chair of the Board of Physicians for Peace (PFP), an organization I've been supporting with my time and financial treasure for the last 15 years. In collaboration with partners across the globe, PFP trains and mentors healthcare workers serving low-resourced communities worldwide, expanding their skill sets and surgical knowledge base to meet their patients' needs. This training and workforce development is greatly needed to address this startling inequity: of the 7 billion people across the globe, 5 billion lack access to safe, timely, and affordable surgical care, including anesthesia. Malawi, one of our long-term partner countries, has only 65 surgeons and 7 anesthesiologists in the entire country! Please join me in supporting our mission to "teach one, heal many." You can DOUBLE YOUR IMPACT by making your gift now, which will be matched by PFP's long-time friend, TowneBank. THANK YOU, in advance, for your contribution!
