Mandela Partners was founded in 2004 and now has a 21-year history of increasing access to healthy food, good jobs, and economic opportunities - all fundamental to healthy residents and thriving neighborhoods. Since our inception, we have generated more than $10 million in local economic returns, distributed more than 2.5 million pounds of fresh and healthy produce, and supported more than 200 local food entrepreneurs to launch and grow their businesses, all within Alameda County.

Our mission is to improve health, create wealth, and build assets through local food enterprises in limited-resource communities throughout Alameda County. We envision a time when communities of color across the East Bay have access to all they need and more – food and economic stability; jobs and business opportunities that build long-term family and community wealth; and economic investment that centers legacy residents and allows those who have been here to stay here.
