Cause In India, marriage is often accompanied by financial strain and the deeply rooted dowry tradition. These burdens can lead to severe consequences such as forced prostitution, sexual abuse, femicide, human trafficking, and honor-based abuse, especially for disadvantaged women. Recognizing this, Ladli Foundation is reaching out to you with a heartfelt appeal to support an extraordinary mass wedding initiative. It aims to provide a dignified life to 51 of the most vulnerable, underserved, and underprivileged women, to these women’s families marriage is both a burden and a dream. The Ladli Foundation Trust wishes to implement this event, which transcends mere ceremony—it is a crusade for dignity, security, and empowerment for the most vulnerable women in our society; by covering all wedding expenses, we alleviate financial burdens and promote social security, this initiative has earlier transformed the lives of over 2,067 young girls and womens, and aims to bring empower them again. Solutions Mass Weddings:  We conduct mass weddings for underprivileged women, covering all associated costs to relieve their families from financial burdens. Groom Screening:  We rigorously screen potential grooms to ensure the bride’s safety and security, preventing future exploitation. Impact Saved The Lives Of 2128+ Daughters:  Through successful marriages as well as has empowered and provided with social security, for the socially victimized women, who were saved from forced prostitution and rehabilitated them through mass wedding. No Dowry Violence:  None of the beneficiaries has fallen victim to dowry-related domestic violence, as verified by police certificates. Female Infanticide Reduction:  The initiative has helped reduce female infanticide, with the girls giving birth to girls. Mindset Change:  The program has shifted societal views, showing that daughters are not burdens and promoting their education. Holistic Development:  We provide safe spaces for the holistic development of young girls, free from patriarchal myths and taboos. Direct Impact:  The lives of 3,287 adolescent girls have been directly impacted. The initiative was launched in 2019 across 47 cities in India in a single day. Community Involvement:  Engaged numerous families in supporting their daughters' dignity and future. UN SDGs Promotion:  Focusing on SDG 5 that is to strive together towards gender equality and empowerment of all women and girls, as well as SDG 7 that aims to ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all. Eliminated Child Marriages and Trafficking:  Worked towards the eradication of child marriages and human trafficking. Education and Healthcare:  Ensured that girls from marginalized communities are enrolled in schools and receive continuous education, healthcare, and overall wellbeing. Challenges One of the primary challenges was the lack of access to digital resources in underprivileged communities. The existing infrastructure was insufficient to support students in today’s technology-driven world, leaving many without the tools needed for educational and professional success. Additionally, the widespread digital divide has limited access to learning opportunities, especially for those from disadvantaged backgrounds, further widening the gap between those who can adapt to a digital future and those left behind. Another significant hurdle was engaging the local community in this initiative. Without community participation, creating lasting impact would be challenging, particularly in terms of maintaining and sustaining the infrastructure built. Financial constraints were also a challenge, as the campaign was determined not to rely on external funding, making it critical to leverage local resources and voluntary support. Our Action In response to these challenges, the Ladli Foundation initiated the Sashakt program, focusing on building infrastructure that supports digital learning and providing students with hands-on training in digital skills. This platform was designed to equip students with practical knowledge that would prepare them for various educational and professional opportunities. The foundation also sought active community participation, engaging local leaders, volunteers, educators, and parents to help create a sustainable ecosystem for learning. Through workshops, training programs, and collaborative efforts, the Ladli Foundation ensured that students not only gained access to digital tools but also learned how to effectively use them to improve their academic and career prospects. By fostering a sense of shared responsibility within the community, the foundation was able to create a supportive and sustainable learning environment. The Impact So Far Since its launch, the Sashakt initiative has seen tremendous success. Hundreds of students have been trained in digital literacy, and many have reported improved academic performance as a direct result of their newfound skills.
