The Kind Mind fosters student experiences with curated programming, panels, workshops, and events that expand students' theatrical experience. Exposure to theatre enhances connection, encourages discussion, and gives students limitless room to hone their creative abilities.
We work with mental health professionals, youth programming professionals, and theatre creatives to bring meaningful arts education to students who need it most. Our programs are grounded in the belief that theatre — as a way of being together — builds the social and emotional skills students carry with them long after the session ends.
We don't ask students to perform. We ask them to listen, respond, and be present with each other. Our methodology draws on ensemble theatre practice, social-emotional learning research, and the direct experience of our teaching artists — who are themselves practitioners, not just facilitators.
Our programs include:
• Student Matinees with a Creative Workshop — after seeing a theatre matinee, students take part in an interactive session with the creative team, exploring expression through a range of activities.
• Social & Emotional Wellness Through Theatre — a classroom workshop, or a practitioner/actor/creative-team panel paired with a matinee, that helps students explore the social and emotional skills theatre builds.
• Creative Performance Projects — students collaborate to create their own original performances, from brainstorming and script/song development to rehearsal and performance.
• Special Events — one-off theatre experiences and workshops for festivals, cabarets, after-school and summer camp programs, wellness initiatives, and creative enrichment.
Your support helps us bring theatre — and the presence, connection, and confidence it builds — to more students.
