Conservation

We work in a place of outstanding biodiversity and beauty in northwest Costa Rica called Área de Conservación Guanacaste (ACG). Home to 2.6% of the world's terrestrial biodiversity, ACG is the only protected area in the Neotropics that sweeps from Pacific Ocean waters up and over the volcanic mountain range of the continental divide and down into the lowlands of the Atlantic rain forest. The Guanacaste Dry Forest Conservation Fund (GDFCF) was formed to aid with the development, protection, and sustainability of ACG.

GDFCF's formal mission statement is to: “Promote the long-term survival of the ecosystems and biodiversity of the Área Silvestre Protegido (wild protected area) of Área de Conservación Guanacaste in Costa Rica through conservation, education, science-based management and biodiversity development.”

Although GDFCF is a U.S. based 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, essentially all funds go directly to Costa Rica to support 38+ resident Costa Rican biodiversity field managers/researchers, equipment, land acquisition, and educational programs in ACG. Your support helps make our work possible.
