The Foundation for Strategic Engagement (FSE) designs and facilitates inclusive dialogue processes that bridge divides and generate actionable pathways for collaboration. Through research-based facilitation, strategic convening, and capacity-building, we create spaces where differing perspectives are constructively explored and new approaches emerge.
Its four primary areas of focus are:
- Mediation, Dialogue, and Diplomacy
- Institutional Integrity & Governance
- Post-Conflict Recovery & Development
- Institutional and Leadership Development
It is also building a Trust Fund for rapid response negotiation and mediation support for conflicts and crises, and houses a Fellows program to advance strategic research-based approaches to practical problems facing societies.
FSE was conceived in response to the growing fragmentation of global and local discourse, where mistrust, misinformation, and polarization undermine cooperation. Drawing on decades of experience in multilateral institutions, mediation, and institutional reform, our founders recognized the need for an independent, nimble organization that could foster civil dialogue and collaborative governance across sectors and borders.
Our methods draw from mediation and preventive diplomacy, emphasizing listening-based engagement, collaborative analysis, and joint problem-solving. We integrate high-level dialogue among decision-makers with community-level engagement to ensure peacebuilding efforts are grounded, inclusive, and sustainable.
