Climate and Community Institute

By working with dozens of researchers, most of them university professors with students and research partners, our core staff is able to punch above its weight in capacity and influence, while also cultivating the next generation of progressive experts. The four key goals of our work are to:

1. Pass New Climate Policy - We work together to create and pass ambitious and effective climate policy. We provide research and co-design winning policy taken up by unions, grassroots groups, political insiders, and politicians. We help move from idea to action by providing expert testimony, data analysis, and relationship management. 
2. Implement Existing Policy - We ensure that legislation doesn’t just pass, but provides for maximum climate and social benefit. Importantly, we help the Inflation Reduction Act land powerfully so we can set the stage for more transformation in the future. 
3. Shift Public Narratives - We intervene in public discourse via earned media– from print to radio to social media– to shift narratives to center progressive climate policy as an urgent priority. 
4. Broaden and Deepen New Coalitions - We conduct research, co-design proposals and convene groups to help align unexpected allies. This enables us to advance equitable climate policy that meets the self-determined needs of marginalized communities.
