Cards for Connection: ME Empathy Project is a Latina-founded, disability-led arts and advocacy initiative. The project combines handmade art and patient advocacy to raise awareness of myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME) among medical professionals. Through this project, I design and produce handmade greeting cards that are distributed to hospitals, clinics and universities. Each card is meant to serve two purposes: 1. To educate clinicIan’s about ME/CFS through brief, accessible information included with each card. 2. To offer a way for patients to connect with medical professionals. The project brings art, empathy, and education together to foster more compassionate care for those living with chronic illness, while offering moments of human connection in clinical spaces.
