Bloomington Animal Care and Control

As a dedicated division of the Department of Public Works, Bloomington Animal Care and Control operates the City of Bloomington Animal Shelter and provides compassionate animal control services for the community.

At the heart of our mission is a deep commitment to the well-being, dignity, and humane treatment of every animal. We work tirelessly to respond to the needs of animals in our city- offering shelter, safety, and second chances through education, ordinance enforcement, and support.

Our goal is to foster a community where every animal is valued, cared for, and treated with kindness and respect-because every life matters, and every act of care makes a difference.

As our animal population continues to grow, we remain committed to maintaining an exceptional live release rate. Even with the increasing number of animals in our care, we proudly achieve a 94-96% live release rate, reflecting our dedication to giving each animal the chance for a happy and healthy future.
