The Central African Republic (CAR) has no formal film training programs. The few Central African filmmakers who exist are trained in the craft, either self-taught, having participated in short training courses, or having taken part in development workshops outside the country. It is with this in mind that we came together to create the association LÊ TI BEÂFRICA, a socio-cultural association recognized under Law No. 16.022 of April 10, 2006, which establishes the cultural charter of the Central African Republic.
Created on June 6, 2022, by a group of filmmakers, LÊ TI BEÂFRICA brings together film enthusiasts and professionals in socio-cultural and artistic activities.
The goal of creating LÊ TI BEÂFRICA is to “Contribute to the development, promotion, and popularization of Central African cinematographic, artistic, and socio-cultural works both within the country and internationally, and to promote African cultural heritage.”
LÊ TI BEÂFRICA's mission is to unite film, arts, and culture professionals around major themes, in order to foster harmonious exchanges on the greatest challenges and directions in the cultural field. This will be achieved through the creation of cinematographic and socio-cultural works at the national, regional, and international levels. Having received professional film training, the members of LÊ TI BEÂFRICA want to contribute to the development, promotion, and popularization of cinematographic works both nationally and internationally. They aim to establish collaborations with filmmakers from all backgrounds and create a legal framework and an environment conducive to the development of the industry. Cinematography in the Central African Republic. Establishing a partnership framework with sister organizations sharing the same objectives. LÊ TI BEÂFRICA, through cinema and culture, aims to offer a fresh perspective on filmmaking and contribute to the development of Central African and African society.
Since 2022, we have been running a screenwriting workshop called "Writing in Bangui," which has become one of our flagship international projects. Each year, filmmakers from the sub-region participate in this screenwriting workshop to strengthen their skills and foster networking among the different countries of the sub-region, notably the Central African Republic, Cameroon, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Chad, Gabon, and the Republic of Congo. Our medium-term objective is to create an audiovisual incubator in the Central African Republic to promote intercultural exchange with the rest of the world.
