Founded in 1980, Inter Aide is a French registered non-profit organization that specializes in designing and implementing development programs aimed at the most disadvantaged families living in isolated rural areas. Guided by a pragmatic, professional and respectful approach to our beneficiaries’ beliefs, our goal is to help strengthen families’ capacities so they can improve their living conditions in the long term. Inter Aide operates in 7 developing countries: Haiti, Madagascar, Malawi, Mozambique, Ethiopia, Sierra Leone, and Guinea. Our work focuses on 4 core areas:
- Water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH): in all 7 countries, our goal is to improve rural communities’ access to sustainable and affordable WASH services through 1/ The construction or rehabilitation of infrastructure adapted to local contexts (wells, boreholes, water catchments, latrines, etc.), and 2/ The development of sustainable management and maintenance systems involving users, public authorities, and private operators in a complementary approach.
- Family agriculture. In Haiti, Madagascar, Malawi and Sierra Leone, we focus on helping farming families to strengthen their food security and improve their socio-economic situation through crop diversification and income generation, while also protecting the environment and natural resources through soil conservation and reforestation.
- Community health. In Madagascar, Guinea, Malawi and Mozambique, Inter Aide seeks to improve access to quality care and prevent the transmission of the most common illnesses – malaria, diarrheal diseases and acute respiratory infections –, especially among children under 5. To achieve this, we work to raise family awareness, strengthen local health systems through infrastructure improvement and essential equipment donation, and support healthcare workers with training and supplies.
- Primary education. In Haiti, our support programs ran across Artibonite, Centre, Ouest and Sud-Est departments, and aim at improving children’s quality of schooling by strengthening the capacities of the educational community and providing material support to schools (school construction, classroom equipment with textbooks and desks, etc.)
In 2024, Inter Aide carried out 49 programs and supported over 232,000 families to meet their basic needs.
