The Allbritton Journalism Institute, launched in 2023, is a nonpartisan nonprofit dedicated to training future generations of journalists to cover power in the nation’s capital.

In the DC-based newsroom, NOTUS, next-gen fellows work side-by-side with veteran reporters and editors over a two-year, salaried experience delivering groundbreaking accountability reporting on the consequential decisions made in Washington and how they reverberate across the U.S. and around the world.

Fellows represent an extraordinary range of socioeconomic, cultural, geographic and educational diversity. More than 75 percent have a local news background, and 25 percent represent rural communities. They receive immersive training from the best in the business while joining a newsroom spearheaded by a slate of supportive editors who previously guided reporters in top national newsrooms including at Axios, BuzzFeed News, Politico, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post Magazine, National Journal and Vanity Fair.

Millions of people already engage with NOTUS’s work each month, through its rapidly growing site, daily newsletter, Apple News, frequent citation and republication in local and national media as well as NOTUS reporters’ regular appearances on CNN, MSNBC, PBS, Fox News, NewsNation, SiriusXM radio and a range of podcasts.

Because AJI is staunchly nonpartisan, fellows' reporting is widely trusted by communities across the political spectrum and by the diverse array of sources these reporters depend upon to get the truth.
