Virginia Clinicians for Climate Action (VCCA) was founded in 2017 to bring the clinician voice to climate change advocacy in Virginia. Through education, advocacy, and community outreach, VCCA builds a network of clinician advocates advancing local and statewide climate solutions. Since our inception, VCCA has become a leading health voice for a clean energy economy in Virginia.

Gratitude and Hope: VCCA's 2025 Year-End Giving Campaign
Support Health Professional Leadership on Climate & Health in Virginia In 2025, Virginia Clinicians for Climate Action (VCCA) mobilized health professionals across the Commonwealth to bring trusted health voices into climate education, public discourse, and policy advocacy. In the past year, VCCA: Hosted its most successful Virginia Climate & Health Education Collaborative Summit, expanding climate-health education across medical and nursing schools statewide Supported health professional participation in op-ed workshops and published climate-and-health commentary across Virginia Led its largest-ever Advocacy Day, with health professionals holding 30+ meetings with legislators on heat safety, clean energy, and emissions from data centers Delivered written and oral testimony at the state and federal level opposing harmful rollbacks and new fossil fuel infrastructure Partnered with labor, environmental justice, and environmental organizations to advance climate and health protections for Virginia communities Year-end gifts support health professional–led education and advocacy that protect health, advance equity, and shape climate solutions in Virginia. 📍 Vienna Community Center, Vienna, VA Health professionals from across Virginia will share powerful insights on how climate change affects our health — from the air we breathe to our children’s well-being — and offer hopeful solutions that protect people and the planet. Featured Speakers Dr. Abigail Hankin-Wei — Traffic, Air Pollution, and Your Family’s Health Ursula Gately — Your Child’s Health in a Changing Climate Dr. Bob Kitchen — Climate-Friendly Legislation and Reasons for Optimism This event supports VCCA’s mission to educate communities, healthcare providers, and lawmakers about the health impacts of climate change and pollution. Proceeds fund outreach programs, clinician training, and advocacy for a healthier, more sustainable Virginia.
