The Virgil Louie Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit building an equine sanctuary in Marengo, Ohio — a place where healing can happen for both horses and people.

Founded in memory of Virgil, our mission is rooted in transformation. Virgil experienced deep trauma early in life which led to addiction but grew into someone who protected others. This foundation honors that legacy by creating a space where pain can be met with compassion and purpose.

We are working to establish a peaceful sanctuary where rescued horses are given safety, dignity, and lifelong care. Alongside them, we will offer trauma-informed programs for youth, adults in recovery, and individuals rebuilding their lives.

Our vision is simple but powerful: A place where broken stories are not the end.

Right now, our primary focus is securing land in the Marengo area and building the foundation for our first rescue horses and healing programs. Every step forward brings us closer to creating a permanent place of restoration — for animals and people alike.
