UF4YD means "Ultimate Frisbee For Youth Development." Bright Parents Nursery and Primary School in Kisowera, Mukono District, has been invited to represent Uganda at a Junior Ultimate Frisbee Tournament hosted at Kaimosi University in Kenya. The team consists of 24 talented student athletes under the age of 16, accompanied by 9 teachers and coaches.

For these children, this opportunity is about much more than sports. It is a chance to build confidence, develop leadership skills, experience cultural exchange, and demonstrate that children from rural communities can compete and excel on an international stage. Many of the participating students have never traveled outside their district, and this tournament presents a life-changing opportunity to broaden their horizons while proudly representing their school, community, and country.

The project seeks to raise up to USD 4,000 to support the continued growth of the school's Ultimate Frisbee program. If sufficient funds are raised, the team hopes to participate in the tournament in Kenya. Regardless of whether travel is possible, contributions will help provide essential equipment, uniforms, training resources, and other program needs that enable young people to develop valuable life skills through sport. By supporting this initiative, donors will help students gain confidence, strengthen teamwork and leadership skills, and inspire hundreds of other children in their community to pursue their dreams beyond geographical and economic limitations.

Challenge

Children in rural communities often have limited access to opportunities that expose them to national and international experiences. Although Bright Parents Nursery and Primary School has successfully developed a competitive Ultimate Frisbee team, financial barriers limit access to equipment, training resources, and opportunities to compete beyond their local community.

The team comprises 24 students and 9 teachers and coaches who are eager to continue growing the program and, if resources allow, to travel to Kenya for the Junior Ultimate Frisbee Tournament. The costs associated with transportation, accommodation, meals, tournament participation, travel documentation, and emergency contingencies are beyond the school's available resources.

Without external support, these young athletes may miss opportunities to represent Uganda, develop their talents, and gain experiences that could significantly shape their personal growth and future aspirations.

Solution

This project seeks to raise USD 4,000 to strengthen the Bright Parents Ultimate Frisbee program and, if sufficient funds are available, facilitate participation in the Junior Ultimate Frisbee Tournament in Kenya.

Funds raised may be used to:

• Purchase Ultimate Frisbee equipment and training materials.
• Provide team jerseys and other essential sporting requirements.
• Support coaching and program development activities.
• Charter transportation for the team and support staff if travel is possible.
• Provide meals and accommodation during the tournament.
• Cover tournament participation and travel-related fees.
• Support border-crossing and travel documentation requirements.
• Provide a contingency fund for health and emergency needs during travel.

Throughout the campaign and, if applicable, the tournament period, supporters will receive updates, photographs, stories from participants, and reports demonstrating how their contributions directly impact the children's experience and development.

Long-Term Impact

The impact of this project extends far beyond a single sporting event.

Whether through local training opportunities or participation in an international tournament, students will develop leadership, teamwork, discipline, communication skills, and self-confidence. If the team is able to travel to Kenya, the experience will further broaden their perspectives and strengthen regional friendships and cultural understanding among young people from East African countries.

Upon their return, participants will become role models for more than 450 fellow students at Bright Parents Nursery and Primary School, demonstrating that children from rural communities can achieve success beyond their immediate environment.

By investing in these children today, donors are helping create future leaders who will carry forward lessons of confidence, determination, teamwork, and community service for years to come.
