The Trades Show is a documentary-style interview series that steps inside the workshops of modern artisans. Hosted and created by Briana Ottoboni, each on-location episode centers the maker, their work, and the setting where skill becomes craft.

Our mission is to revive the artisan trades by highlighting craftwork as a viable career path, educating aspiring artisans, and connecting makers to one another through storytelling, apprenticeships, and community. Through warm, grounded conversations and close attention to tools, materials, process, and lived experience, the series invites craftworkers and the craft-curious to see traditional craftsmanship as a vital part of modern life.

Donations help sustain the work required to research guests, travel to workshops, film and edit episodes, and distribute the series free across video, audio, and written channels. Support also helps us develop future city-anchored seasons and reach more people who want to understand how things are made—and the people who make them.

The Trades Show is a fiscally sponsored project of Intersection for the Arts, a San Francisco-based 501(c)(3). Contributions made through our fiscal sponsor support the series' charitable arts and educational work.

Keep The Trades Show in Production

Help keep The Trades Show in production. The goal is to raise $2,000 by December 31, 2026, toward November and December's production and post-production expenses—a planned budget of $1,000 per month. To date, this project has been entirely self-funded. Your support of a one-time or recurring (tax deductible!) donation allows me to keep pouring my love into this project, while keeping it free and accessible to everyone. The Trades Show takes you inside artisans' workshops to meet the people behind the craft. Through conversations with makers, we share how they learned their trade, what goes into their work, and what it takes to keep a craft practice alive. Every episode takes work beyond the interview: researching and booking guests, preparing and filming on location, editing video and audio, and getting the finished story out into the world. Currently, in order to keep cost of production low, I am the sole operator. Your donation helps cover production and post-production expenses, including the software and tools used to edit, caption, and release the show. That support helps us keep the episodes free to watch and listen to, so anyone curious about craft can enjoy them. Monthly giving helps me plan for those recurring costs and keep making the series. Whatever amount works for you, thank you for helping me share the stories of modern craftwork with the world. The Trades Show is a fiscally sponsored project of Intersection for the Arts.
