We are anglers, scientists, truth tellers, and legal advocates fiercely committed to wild steelhead and salmon survival. Our work is grounded in evidence, unbeholden to politics, driven by accountability, and fueled by a deep connection to the rivers we fight to protect.
Across the Pacific Rim, countless organizations are working to conserve salmon and steelhead. Billions of dollars have been spent on habitat restoration and policy advocacy. Yet, wild populations continue to decline. Why? While habitat is essential, it is not enough. The hard truth is that overharvest, hatcheries, and dams have robbed wild fish of their diversity, and without diversity, even the best habitat cannot ensure survival.
This is where TCA stands apart. First and foremost, WE ARE ANGLERS; fishermen with a deep connection to wild steelhead and salmon and the waters they inhabit. Working for collective decades in salmonid science, WE ARE ALSO EXPERTS on what these fish need to recover and survive. We’ve seen what measures truly work and, even more telling, what’s a waste of precious resources.
The Conservation Angler fights the battles that matter — letting science guide the best path for wild steelhead/salmon recovery and protection, educating the public and holding governments accountable for their failures and reckless oversights. We also arm anglers with the best available science to empower them to be effective advocates in the fight to save wild fish.
