For more than 45 years, STAR Institute has been a global leader in advancing understanding, treatment, and acceptance of sensory processing and sensory integration differences. Our mission is to improve quality of life by developing and promoting best practices for sensory health and wellness through treatment, education, and research.
Every day, children, adults, and families come to STAR seeking answers, support, and hope. Many individuals experience challenges with sensory processing that affect daily activities, relationships, learning, emotional regulation, participation in school or work, and overall well-being. Too often, these individuals struggle to find providers who understand their unique needs. STAR fills that gap by providing compassionate, evidence-informed, neurodiversity-affirming care that helps people thrive.
Based in Colorado, STAR Institute provides specialized occupational therapy, feeding therapy, mental health services, parent coaching, intensive treatment programs, and therapeutic groups for children, adolescents, and adults. Our interdisciplinary approach recognizes that sensory processing impacts every aspect of life, and we partner closely with families and individuals to build skills, confidence, and meaningful participation in everyday activities.
Beyond direct services, STAR is committed to expanding access to sensory-informed care worldwide. Through professional training programs, continuing education, mentorship opportunities, and community outreach, we equip healthcare professionals, educators, and caregivers with practical tools to support sensory health. Our educational programs reach thousands of professionals and families each year, helping create more inclusive schools, workplaces, and communities.
Research has always been a cornerstone of STAR's work. By advancing understanding of sensory processing and sharing best practices, we help shape the future of care for individuals with sensory differences. Our commitment to innovation ensures that families and professionals have access to the most current knowledge and effective interventions available.
As a nonprofit organization, STAR is dedicated to making services accessible to as many individuals as possible. We accept Medicaid, offer financial assistance when funding allows, and continually work to reduce barriers to care. Demand for services continues to grow, with hundreds of children and adults seeking support each year. Donations help us expand access, reduce wait times, provide scholarships and financial assistance, develop new programs, train professionals, and advance research that benefits individuals and families around the world.
When you support STAR Institute, you are investing in a future where sensory differences are understood, accepted, and supported. Your generosity helps children participate more successfully in school, empowers adults to navigate daily life with greater confidence, strengthens families, and expands access to life-changing services for those who need them most.
Together, we can build a world where every person has the opportunity to thrive.
