Rethink Learning Inc

The mission of Rethink Learning Inc. is to advance innovative learning programs and practices that empower PreK-12 learners and the educators that support them. We are specifically committed to using research – both research we do and research done by others – to improve teaching, learning, and leadership in STEM in schools and informal learning settings.

While the Rethink Learning staff works in math, science, and computer science, we are each dedicated to the premise that all people are math people and that learning math is a right. We recognize that traditional instruction across STEM, particularly in math, is not only problematic, but actually harmful to students who don’t fit the the stereotype of a “math person”. And we know all of this contributes to students opting out of all of STEM. Thus, we develop and implement research-based principles to drive instruction that is fun culturally relevant, and grounded in real world activities. We want everyone to have access to STEM, to feel they are a math person, and to smile and laugh while learning. These seem like rights to us.

Rethink Learning is driven by a commitment to rethinking who gets to learn, what it means to learn, and the doors that can be opened through formal and informal education. It is our assertion that this work is critical for supporting economic mobility and opportunity as it opens doors to later careers and pathways to good jobs.
