The eastern region of the DRC has been embroiled in conflict for over 20 years, and rape is commonly used as a weapon of war. Panzi Hospital & Foundation was created by Dr. Denis Mukwege, 2018 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, to provide survivors of conflict-related sexual violence with medical, psychological, legal, and socioeconomic care in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

So far, we have treated over 80,000 survivors of sexual violence and over 25,000 women with complex gynecological injury.
