Since 1977, PADV has worked passionately and tirelessly to end the crime of domestic violence and empower its survivors. We are the largest nonprofit domestic violence organization in Georgia. Join us as we work to combat and educate about abuse or let us know how we can serve you as you seek safety.

PADV implements a holistic approach to ending domestic violence. We connect with individuals personally impacted by domestic violence through comprehensive services designed to facilitate safety and the journey to a violence-free life. On the community level, we reach out in a creative and comprehensive way to educate on the many facets of domestic violence and build the commitment and skills needed to eradicate this crime.

Emergency Safe Houses
PADV operates two emergency safe houses, in Fulton and Gwinnett counties. Our Gwinnett program is the largest domestic violence shelter in Georgia. During their stay, clients receive assistance with planning, goal development, clothing, food, transportation, childcare, emotional support, financial management and referrals for housing and job opportunities.

24-Hour Crisis Lines
The crisis line is often the first and only link to safety for intimate partner violence survivors. PADV's crisis line provides callers with support, safety planning, access to shelter, information, and community referrals. While many of our callers are in immediate danger, we also assist people with loved ones struggling with domestic violence, or those who just need a chance to talk as they try to decide next steps.

Legal Advocacy
PADV's legal advocacy services ensure that survivors seeking legal relief from the violence they are experiencing have trained and compassionate advocates to guide them through the process. We assist clients with preparing temporary protection orders, appearing before the judge, safety planning, and accessing additional resources needed to move them towards a violence free life.

Outreach & Prevention Programs
Education is the key to ending domestic violence. PADV strives to inform our community on the many intricacies of intimate partner violence and what we all need to do to prevent and end it! Our outreach work is comprehensive and includes teen dating violence prevention, domestic violence in the workplace, training to the law enforcement community to create a more victim centered approach, building appropriate responses in faith-based communities, Spanish language services as needed for the LatinX community, and college-based services for young adults. Supportive Housing Program
PADV’s Supportive Housing Program provides an important bridge to self-sufficiency for domestic violence survivors and their children. Our program has grown substantially over the past year; we now serve over 170 people in community-based apartments. In addition to paying a portion of the families rent, PADV provides ongoing support, crisis management, connection with mental health services, counseling, and assistance with food, legal advocacy, childcare, personal care items and transportation as needed.

Support Groups
PADV's Outreach Advocates are available to support survivors in the community who need services but are not a part of a shelter program. Assistance includes therapy for adults and children provided by licensed therapists, support groups, assistance with basic needs, transportation, connection with other community resources and short-term rental assistance.
