India’s 100,000 coal-fired brick kilns are responsible for 6% of the country’s CO2 emissions and up to 15% of the annual air pollution (PM2.5). Technically simple, no-cost operational changes that were validated through an RCT can reduce carbon emissions and PM2.5 while increasing the kiln’s profitability. This gives Neev a unique opportunity to take advantage of aligned incentives.

We provide direct training to kiln owners and workers on improved firing practices, offer ongoing technical support for implementing change, and conduct measurement and evaluation followup to assess efficacy. Our aim is to make technical training open source, easily digestible, and widely available, facilitating the knowledge being shared organically through kiln owner’s informational networks.

At scale, we seek to be one of the most cost effective climate change charities, averting a ton of CO2 for $2.22 while also improving air quality.
