At Namigni Animal Sanctuary, our mission goes beyond saving lives—we create
pathways to a safer, more compassionate future for animals.

As a US-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we operate Colombia’s largest farm animal
sanctuary, providing refuge for cows, bulls, calves, and other animals rescued from
slaughter, abuse, and neglect. Every rescue is an act of compassion, but also a step
toward building solutions that address the systemic issues placing these animals at
risk.

Our work spans borders, tackling urgent challenges in Latin America and Southern
Europe. From protecting donkeys from the brutal donkey skin trade, to safeguarding
Spanish fighting bulls as we strive to create a post-bullfighting era, to giving calves born
in the most hostile circumstances a chance at life, Namigni combines direct action with
forward-thinking advocacy. We are not only a sanctuary—we are a movement
dedicated to creating lasting change where it is most needed.

Help Create a Peaceful Post-Bullfighting World

Bullfighting is in decline — but what happens to the bulls? For centuries, Spanish fighting bulls and cows have been bred for spectacle. Today, as bullfighting faces bans and shrinking audiences, thousands of these animals face an uncertain future: abandonment, slaughter, or being recycled into other forms of cruel entertainment. At Namigni Animal Sanctuary, we believe that simply banning bullfighting is not enough. The real measure of progress is ensuring that these animals — one of the oldest and semi-wildest cattle breeds on Earth — are protected, respected, and preserved. We are already proving it’s possible: 11 Spanish fighting bulls and cows live under our care, rescued from abandonment or slaughter. Each day, we fight to give them the life they deserve. But to truly build a post-bullfighting world, we must go further — and we need your help. 1. Rescue & Care We rescue Spanish fighting bulls and cows who are at risk of being abandoned or sent to slaughter. They are majestic, sensitive beings — and protecting them is both urgent and essential. With every donation, you help us provide food, shelter, and veterinary care for the 11 already under our protection, and for the many more waiting to be saved. 2. Constructive Dialogue A real solution means engaging with the people inside the bullfighting industry — ranchers, breeders, bullfighters, and even promoters — and offering them a way forward that is peaceful, sustainable, rewarding, and constructive. We are creating conversations and partnerships that turn former adversaries into pioneers of change. 3. Smarter Policies Bans alone create unintended tragedies: animals left without protection, heritage breeds at risk of extinction, and families in the industry left without alternatives. We advocate for policies that: Protect the animals, not just ban the fights. Preserve the breed as a living cultural and biological treasure. Include and support industry participants in the transition, ensuring stability and collaboration instead of conflict. 4. Raising Awareness A ban may look like a victory, but it’s only half the solution. Without a plan for the bulls and cows themselves, bans simply erase them from sight — often through slaughter. We are building awareness worldwide to show that a holistic, compassionate transition is possible. Why This Matters The Bulls Themselves: Without intervention, countless animals face abandonment and slaughter as bullfighting declines. A Heritage at Risk: The Spanish fighting bull is one of the oldest semi-wild cattle breeds — a living link to history and culture. Sustainable Change: True transformation requires dialogue and solutions that include those in the bullfighting industry. Beyond Bans: Legislation that ignores the fate of the animals creates hidden tragedies. We stand at a turning point. Either these animals vanish in silence, or we create a new path — one where compassion and culture can coexist. How You Can Help Your support directly funds: Feed, shelter, and veterinary care for rescued bulls and cows. Outreach and dialogue programs with bullfighting agents ready to embrace change. Policy advocacy that ensures animals are protected in law, not left behind. Global awareness campaigns to mobilize support for this historic transition. Every donation helps us expand our sanctuary, rescue more animals, and give weight to the global call for a post-bullfighting world. Join Us in Making History This is more than a campaign. It’s the start of a new chapter in human–animal relationships. Together, we can show that protecting Spanish fighting bulls and cows is possible, that preserving their breed is valuable, and that building a future beyond bullfighting can be peaceful and sustainable. Donate today and become part of the movement for a Post-Bullfighting World, created by Namigni Animal Sanctuary, a US 501(c)3 nonprofit providing sanctuary for rescued Spanish fighting bulls and cows.

Save Latin America’s Donkeys from the Donkey Skin Trade

Every skin is a story. Every donkey deserves a life of dignity. The Crisis Across Latin America, donkeys — gentle, intelligent, and loyal beings — are under attack. A cruel and growing industry is stealing their lives to supply the global demand for "ejiao", a gelatin made from donkey skins used in traditional Chinese medicine and luxury products. Colombia  has already seen donkeys illegally slaughtered and skinned for export. In Venezuela , donkeys are stolen, trafficked, and sold across the border to enter the trade from Colombia. In Mexico, Peru, Bolivia, and Brazil , negotiations and exports are already underway to feed the trade. Meanwhile, the United States  is ironically one of the largest importers of ejiao, fueling the very industry destroying donkeys abroad. What does this mean? Donkeys — who are already overworked, underfed, beaten, and even subject to shocking cases of sexual abuse — are now facing a new and devastating threat: being slaughtered en masse for their skins. This is not just cruel. It’s unacceptable. Our Mission Through this campaign, we are committed to: Rescue, rehabilitate, and protect donkeys in Latin America who are victims or are under the threat of ending up in the donkey skin trade. Raise global awareness about the hidden cruelty of ejiao and highlight the role of the United States as a top importer, seeking a ban on ejiao imports. Advocate for national bans on the export of donkey skins across Latin America, pushing governments to close their doors to this industry. Speak the truth: Donkeys are already some of the most abused and overlooked animals on earth. To add the donkey skin trade to their suffering is intolerable. Why Donkeys? Donkeys are often called “beasts of burden,” but they are so much more: They form deep bonds with each other and with humans. They show patience and resilience even in the harshest conditions. They are curious, affectionate, and intelligent beings. And yet — across Latin America, they are treated as disposable. Their lives are being stolen, their bodies commodified, their very species put at risk. We believe every donkey deserves safety, care, and dignity. Our Strategy In Colombia:  Intervene on the ground to rescue donkeys, support sanctuary care, and investigate the illegal skin trade. In the U.S.:  Launch awareness campaigns to pressure lawmakers and consumers to ban ejiao imports. Across Latin America:  Build coalitions with local partners in Mexico, Peru, Bolivia, Brazil, and Venezuela to demand national bans on donkey skin exports. This is a multinational fight: protecting donkeys where they live, and stopping the demand where it thrives. Your Impact Your donation helps us: Provide emergency rescue and veterinary care for abused and at-risk donkeys. Expand sanctuary space for lifelong protection. Launch awareness campaigns in the U.S. and Latin America to expose the trade. Push for political action — bans on donkey skin exports and ejiao imports. Join Us The donkey skin trade is spreading fast in Latin America. If we don’t act now, thousands more donkeys will be lost to this brutal industry. Together, we can rescue survivors, expose the cruelty, and shut down this trade for good. 👉 Donate today and become a Defender of the Donkeys.
