The mission of The LOVB Foundation of Nevada is to provide access to and opportunities through volleyball for everyone who wants to play. Volleyball is the #1 girls team sport in the country, and one of the fastest growing sports for boys in the country. The sport matters because it provides a source of joy and connection, a venue for critical life lessons, and ultimately, a pathway to educational and economic advancement. The LOVB Foundation exists to give more young people access to volleyball and to the life-changing opportunities the sport creates. Working closely with clubs across the country, the LOVB Foundation helps young people get the financial aid they need to stay in the game—and reap lifelong benefits. Volleyball is a catalyst for empowerment of young people, girls in particular. Its benefits are powerful and far-reaching, from an athlete’s personal and holistic growth to understanding how to make a team and community successful.  Unique to volleyball, athletes learn in a fast-paced, interdependent environment with scoring on every exchange and constant feedback from teammates and coaches.  These lessons, imparted through the sports of volleyball, shape young people into great athletes and teammates—and prepare them for life. Volleyball means a lot to me. I started playing way later than a lot of girls that play at the higher level who usually start in elementary school. That never stopped me, that just made me want to work even harder to catch up. I fell in love with the sport, and since then, I’ve pushed myself to improve every time I step on the court. I was really proud to make varsity as a freshman this past season, and even more proud to be a starting player. I also earned All-Conference, which was such a big moment for me and showed me how far I’ve come. I go to Lincoln, where we don’t have a head coach or real training support for volleyball, so I’ve had to find ways to grow on my own. I take every chance I can to get better, and that’s why this opportunity means so much to me. I know that playing club volleyball will help me become a better player and give me access to better coaching and competition that I don’t have at school. At the same time, I’ve been able to keep up with my grades and earn all A’s while being a student-athlete. It’s not always easy to balance everything, but I care about my future and know how important school is. I’m dedicated, I work hard, and I’m so excited for the chance to grow and compete in club volleyball.
