Alcohol taxation is the single most effective alcohol policy solution to prevent and reduce harm caused by alcohol. Health, social and economic burden caused by alcohol use keeps many people in poverty. Alcohol taxation helps to reduce alcohol consumption but not only that. It does magic in groups with lower socio-economic status because the harm caused by alcohol hits this population the most. Alcohol taxation helps to reduce the harm. It helps governments mobilise resources to invest in health initiatives and it helps alleviate health inequalities.
Center for Alcohol Policy Solutions - CAPS is focused on advocacy for public-health oriented taxation in low-income countries and enable effective poverty eradication.
