FundaciΓ³n KodeaΒ is a non-profit organization based in Chile that focuses on empowering people through digital skills and knowledge. Our main areas of work are:We aim to be the driving force of digital change in Latin America, digitally empowering individuals, with a special emphasis on the school community, women, and those who have been marginalized, so they can become relevant actors in this new era.

In nearly 10 years, we have impacted more than 2 million people, influenced 2 Public Policies related to Education and Employment, and were recognized by the IDB as one of the NGOs making the most effective innovations to improve people's lives in Latin America.

Our strategic guidelines are:

  1. Positive Valuation of Digital Skills: Raising awareness and promoting a positive valuation of professions, trades, and disciplines associated with technology; changing biases and stereotypes entrenched in society and highlighting their importance for the development of countries in this new global and digital context.
  2. Computer Science (CS) in the Classroom: Incorporating CS into the educational curriculum in Chile and Latin America as a key tool for developing 21st-century skills, future employability, school transformation, and student empowerment, motivation, and creativity.

  3. Digital Workforce: Equipping the digital industry with new talents, with a special focus on increasing the presence of women and underrepresented sectors.
  4. Female Digital Empowerment: Providing women and marginalized individuals with the necessary knowledge and technological tools to develop digital, entrepreneurial, and innovative skills.
  5. Digital Citizenship for All: Providing people with tools and knowledge to become competent digital citizens capable of effectively participating in the digital space, enhancing the quality of democracy.

To achieve this, we swiftly incubate relevant training offerings, articulating collaboration ecosystems with the public sector, private sector, academia, civil society, and media. We work along three lines of action:

Education

  • IdeoDigital: Aims to create the necessary conditions for thousands of children and adolescents to become protagonists of the 21st-century digital society, supporting teachers in developing teaching skills and integrating Computer Science into the Chilean public school system.
  • Los Creadores: A School Digital Talent Award that places the importance of developing digital skills and early innovation on the public agenda and in school communities, showcasing children and teachers with creative minds capable of using technology for community benefit. It has a training program to guide an innovation process from idea conceptualization to prototype configuration. It operates in Chile, Peru, Colombia, and Argentina.
  • Hour of Code: A digital education campaign by Code.org, which arrived in Chile in 2015 to encourage children to spend an hour playing, learning, and creating with technology, promoting the teaching of Computer Science.

Future Workforce

  • Digital Talent for Chile: A national initiative for digital workforce conversion, based on an agreement integrating companies, training institutions, and the state to develop new skills in people, aligned with the demands of the digital economy.
